Christmas Cottage - Platinum Style

Hello Everyone!

I'm back today with something a little different. I don't normally go in for silver, but I just received a bunch of new products from The Funkie Junkie Boutique and I was blown away by the beauty of Tim Holtz's new distress sprays Brushed Pewter and Iced Spruce! I felt that I had to start creating immediately, just so I could use them!

I hope you enjoy my Christmas Cottage - Platinum Style!

For the multi-coloured background, I embossed a piece of card stock with a Spellbinders M-Bossibilities folder E-006 Then I took my NEW Tim Holtz distress stains Walnut Stain, Gathered Twigs and Iced Spruce and randomly covered the paper. I used my sanding block to sand the raised areas, swiped a little Walnut Stain to highlight it.

For the blue layer, I did a bit of stamping with some text and some snowflakes using Ranger Archival ink Potting Soil. Then I used a Simon Says Stamp Flower Pattern stencil with some VersaMark and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I took the Iced Spruce stain and rubbed it over the surface.

See the beautiful silver splashes all over the card, so shimmery right! Another one of my fun new products! Tim Holtz distress spray Brushed Pewter...boy oh boy, I am loving this stuff!

The snowflakes were cut using Tim Holtz On the Edge Snow Flurries which I embossed using Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder and while they were still hot I stamped them with my Impression Obsession Paisley Crystal stamp.

I also added a couple of sprigs of AB Crystals. I had to reach deep in my stash to find these as well as the AB fabric snowflakes. I've had them for years and never used them because I normally decorate with gold, but what a perfect fit for the platinum, don't you think?

This fancy flourish panel was actually done with an embossing folder. One that I have NEVER used, not once! Totally forgot I even had it! It's from Cuttlebug called Flourished Frame. After I embossed a piece of card stock, I painted it with a couple layers of DecoArt paint, stained it, sanded it, highlighted it with Walnut Stain and then I fussy cut it out. I edged it with my Krylon Silver Leafing Pen and then stamped my Artistic Outpost cottage in the center.

I am entering my Platinum Christmas Card into the following wonderful challenges:

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  3. Gorgeous card. Love the neutral palette and all the glittery layers. You sure made that stash from The Funkie Junkie Boutique do everything except sing and dance. Also think the flourished frame with the cottage stamp is just so perfect for a focal point. Time to stop gushing and get ready to go and stock the pantry. Thanks for sharing this beauty at Frilly and Funkie.

I want to wrap up in a blanket and sit in front of a blazing fire...and I want to deconstruct this card so that I can see all the amazing details you worked into every layer. Each layer is sublime..and the soft brush marks make it feel "real." You have the eyes and soul of an artist.....I really don't have words to describe how very much I love this! 35. My sweet Pamellia, I saw this beauty very briefly yesterday... but I only had a moment and that is never long enough to fully take in your creations. So I'm back today to properly admire and fall into the beauty that is your Christmas cottage! Oh my... the life you give to every product you use is simply magical. Your new goodies look amazing! It is clear to see how inspired you were by them. The pewter and iced spruce sprays are incredible and I have never seen such spectacularly designed snowflakes! The cottage itself is gorgeous, the pinecones are lovely, and the sentiment is just perfect. What I would give to spend a crafty day with you to try to soak up some of your creative brilliance. :o) Thank you for continually inspiring, my sweet and talented friend! Have a sparkly Sunday. :o)
