A Vintage Journey - Guest Creative Guide - Spring Colours

Hello Everyone!

Big day today, as I once again have the honour of being the Guest Creative Guide at A Vintage Journey! This month is being hosted by the very talented Astrid and she has chosen the theme SPRING COLOURS!

I have had this box squirrelled away for quite some time and I just knew this was the perfect time to pull it out and decorate it. Who can resist Tim's bright and cheery ink sprays, and that's exactly what I will be storing in it! I hope you enjoy my Distress Ink Spray Storage Box!

My box started as a plain, unfinished piece. It originally was lined with chicken wire and filled with fruit!  I gave it two coats of Gesso as a base and then I used a variety of Tim Holtz stamps and his smudge technique to add some designs. Next I used the Tim Holtz Latticework stencil and some Crackle Paste to lay down the pattern. While the paste was still wet, I coated it with Ranger Clear embossing powder to act as a resist.

I sprayed with Tim Holtz distress sprays Mermaid Lagoon and Peeled Paint as well as a little Dylusions Jade. For the flowers I crinkled up paper and dabbed some Picket Fence paint on the wrinkles. Then I spritzed with Tim Holtz Picked Raspberry and Dusty Concord. They were cut using the Tattered Florals die.

The butterfly is from the Tim Holtz Butterfly Duo set and was coloured with Picked Raspberry and Dusty Concord with a touch of Gathered Twigs. The bottle is filled with Tim Holtz Distress glitter Antique Linen. For the windows, I used one of my favourite Tim techniques, embossed shrink plastic. I used the Flourish texture fades embossing folder and then cut some Latticework using the Mixed Media die set to tuck into the corners.

The foliage is cut from the Tim Holtz Garden Greens and coloured with Peeled Paint distress spray. The little tiny roses are Tim Holtz Heirloom Roses. I rubbed a little Picket Fence paint over them and then a little Wild Honey to colour them. The birds and the nest were stamped and fussy cut out from various Tim Holtz stamp sets.

The small butterfly is from the French Flight stamp set. I fussy cut it out and used a Tim Holtz Idea-Ology brad as the body. The rusted wires are just some regular wire covered in Tim Holtz Vintage Photo embossing powder. The small flowers were coloured with Wild Honey distress spray.

UPDATE:
My box won an award in the following wonderful challenge:

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.
