Frilly and Funkie - All in the Family

Hello Everyone!

It's time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. Suzz is our hostess this time around and she has chosen the theme "All in the Family". Whether it is your ancestors, a favourite family memory or family outings, create a vintage or shabby chic project reflecting your family. One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

When I think of family, I think about Christmas. It's the only day of the year when we are all together in the same room, and some of my favourite family memories are of the holidays.

All of the following products that I used can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique

I would like to send out a special thank you to Faith of Daffodil Cards for identifying that white mystery flower from last week. It is some type of Ninebark shrub (Physocarpus). There are a lot of types, and I can't figure out which it is, but I happy to have a name for it. Thanks Faith, you rock!!

So I decided to take a new path a couple of weeks ago and explore a new area. There was a hill to climb, which I love...I always want to know what's on the other side! At the top of the hill was a bridge, and some lovely park areas just beyond.

I ran across this tree which must have been scared by something in the sky, because it seems to have abruptly turned and headed back towards the ground! lol.

And back on the home front, it's been hotter than heck, so I decided to do some evening photography and take some artsy pictures of the lake and some moonlit flowers.

Some evening shots of a Swamp Rose and a Water Iris.

I had lots of questions about by new bird feeding system, so I thought I would share the advice I received from Lisa and Valerie. I was using dry birdseed before, but they recommended lard based products like SUET blocks. So far, the mixed nuts for woodpeckers seems to draw the best variety of birds, but all of them work better than the loose seeds ever did.

Here is a juvenile female Starling enjoying my new feeder, and a baby on the branch watching with great anticipation!

I've decided that JUNIOR must be a natural born trend setter. As per usual, here you can see him taking a rest on the patio railing...

But guess what? His lazy habits are starting to catch on. Here is STEVIE...

and MR SCRUFF...

...and even CRAZY KAREN has decided to give it a go. Although in true Karen style, she had to do it in her own way! How hilarious!

My token morning coffee shot gave me some hope of rain. There was even some super strong winds and one clap of thunder, but alas, Mother Nature's bark is apparently worse than her bite because not a drop of rain fell!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.
