My entire adult life I've been making the trip up north to visit my parents. Every time I have, I've passed by this road that seems to be floating on the top of a lake. I've never checked it out before, because it's almost always been flooded or looked like it was going to be flooded any minute. Well I finally found the silver lining in this drought we've been having... the road finally looked safe enough to drive on!! lol

So on one side of the road is this beautiful clear blue lake...

and on the other side... an icky smelly marsh! What's up with that!!

I stuck to taking photos on the 'lake' side of the road. tee hee.

Oh no, Mr Bee, stay away from that spider's web!! It's a trap I tell you, a TRAP!!

For a second I thought the road the slanted and my heart skipped a beat, but alas, it's just the sign. lol

Well of course I'm going to check out what's on the other side of the bridge! Silly question!

A gorgeous lake where you can walk right in from the sandy area and get your feet wet. Behind where I'm standing is a stunning little picnic area and we will be stopping here for lunch on our next trip for sure!

One last little discovery before we head back on the road. MR & MRS HALLOWEEN PENNANT DRAGONFLY are making kissy kissy!! Fun Fact: Did you know that a female dragonfly is actually called a Damselfly! How cool is that!

And back on the home front, I've been practising with the zoom lens on my bird shots. I still get mostly blurry photos, but I've had a few successes so far. Here is my little Chickadee shot.

And a stunning Grackle up in the tree. Take note of the missing feathers on his face. I'm starting to see a lot of featherless heads in the bird kingdom, as they prepare to grow their winter plumage. EEK

SKITTLES says hello from the railing. Kids... they're always eating on the run! lol

and PRECIOUS says hello from the tree where she likes to hang out.

My dear MR SCRUFF has gotten quite picky about his menu recently. He has figured out that I carry a variety of munchies at all times, so if he doesn't find what he wants in the food bowl, he comes and knocks on the door... LITERALLY... then stands on his hinds and patiently waits! What a hilarious little dude!

And JUNIOR you ask? Well he's not as picky as Mr Scruff. He's a good kid and will eat whatever is in the bowl, but his favourites, hands down, are avocados and carrots, so I always make sure he has them when he comes.

My token morning coffee shot.

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.

  1. What a beautiful creation Pamellia - love your little elves and all the texture and layers..
The lake photos are beautiful - you really live in a beautiful corner of the earth.
As for Junior and Mr Scruff - you really do have your hands full with them! :-)
We are seeing signs of spring - tulips and daffs coming up, the Daphne smelling sweetly and some SUNSHINE, for several days in a row too! Oh and the Starlings tidying up the nesting box.
    Blessings

Grat photos as always, and that road does look like it floats in the lake.
Sorry to hear you are having droughts, but it was to your advantage this time.
Where I live it doesn't very often rain, and we are always having drought warnings and not to use too much water.
