I apologize for being MIA for the last week. It's been pretty busy in my craft room as I prepared for my full blogging schedule this week. I promise to catch up with everyone over the next few days. So now, lets get on with the show.
It's time for another challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers! Thank you to everyone who played with us last time for our 'Triple B' challenge, I enjoyed looking at all the wonderful cards you made!
Lin, our wonderful hostess has chosen the following theme for us CHALLENGE #125 - IT'S ONLY WORDS. So she would like to see your cards or projects that have a sentiment as the main focus. This one is easy ladies, I know how much you love to stamp your sentiments! Here is my make.
For the background I mixed together some DecoArt Slate Grey and Cinnamon Brown paint and put down an uber thick layer on white paper. I mean I just glopped it on, so there would be nice deep brush impressions in the paint. Then I stamped a couple of swirls on the page and ran it through my Cuttlebug with a poinsettia embossing folder.
Next I took a really coarse sanding block and swiped it back and forth in different directions to take off some of the paint. I rubbed some Krylon Gold Leafing on the top for a metallic finish.
MRS DUCK...PLEASE TAKE THIS KRYLON PEN AWAY FROM ME...I CAN'T STOP ON MY OWN!!
I cut the base shape from Spellbinders Labels 33 and painted it with a thick layer of white paint, again, making sure there were lots of visible brush strokes.I added some Picket Fence Crackle paint and coloured it with Tim Holtz distress inks Bundled Sage, Gathered Twigs and Pumice Stone. Then I dabbed some Picket Fence paint really lightly and added more distress ink. Some Krylon gold leafing for the metallic edges.
The foliage was cut from Tim Holtz Festive Greenery and coloured with Crushed Olive and Gathered Twigs. I added some Martha Stewart coarse glitter to the leaves (which was absolutely impossible to photograph!).
The poinsettia was cut from Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia. I layered white paint and UTEE a couple of times, then swiped some Tim Holtz distress ink Black Soot over the petals and heated it up so it melted into the top layer.
I am entering my Christmas Noel card into the following wonderful challenges:
- We Do Doobadoo - Challenge #16 - Christmas
- Completely Christmas - Challenge #33 - Anything Goes With a Twist - Add a Poinsettia
- Completely Christmas - Challenge #33 - Anything Goes With a Twist - Add a Poinsettia
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.
Gorgeous card again, Pamellia. It's so elegant and well made.

DeleteOMG Pamellia!! Your card is definitely THE BEST Christmas card I have seen! I love nontraditional Christmas colors you used and all the crackle paint and textures on it. The poinsettia is heavenly beautiful and your card would not be your card if there isn't a perfect shabby ribbon bow on it ;) I love the embossing and your use of different paints is amazing!!! I don't think I have seen anybody else use paint and mix it with such ease and expertise as you do! You are a genius!!!! You pay so much attention to every single detail and I am glad you do, that way I can rest my eye on the masterpieces you create every time! Thank you for giving the world the joy! I already told you that your art is like doctor's prescription :) Dose of heavenly beauty: take as needed. So when ever I need a boost of art I hop on to your blog. :) Thank you again for such a beautiful peace of art that we can all enjoy!!

MIA? I thought you had been buried under an avalanche of embossing puffs and Mr J had only just dug you out lol!
No good asking me to prise that Krylon out of your vice like grip. . . . .I'm an addict too remember! We both need a spell in Krylon Rehab lol!
Best wishes.
