Wow, I can't believe summer is pretty much over! Normally we get hot weather right on into October, but it was so mild this summer that the cold weather has already started to settle in. I'm looking forward to the colours of autumn and the white wonderlands of winter, but for now, a few more summer photos while I can still see green on the trees.
Such a perfect vision of beauty, not a hair out of place. Ok, well maybe just one.
~Black Capped Chickadee~
"OK fine, one picture... but then I'm going back to hiding in the leaves!"
~Mr Cardinal~
Since I had to take down the bird feeders on the patio, there aren't many Blue Jay visitors anymore, but I found a little cubby at the lake where the Blue Jays will come and visit me for the small price of a peanut. I'm super excited to have a little blue back in my life!
One of my favourite things about taking a walk at the crack of dawn is seeing these most darling creatures! I just wanna scoop them up and hug them!
"What is that foul odour in the air? Oh, it's human!"
~Mr Skunk~
"Errrrrrrrr, do you think I can't see you just because you're laying down in the grass!"
~Miss Cherie~
"Me, come out there? Heck no! No way! Nope! Nuh uh! Staying right here thank you very much."
~a shy trail friend~
"For the love of all that is holy, let this taste as good as it smells!"
~One Eyed Willamina~
"Digging the new patio human. If you're taking orders, I'd like more yellow flowers please, goes great with my fur tone!"
~Rusty~
My best bud Crazy Karen has spent most of August healing a badly injured hind leg. Every morning she struggles to get to my patio where she can eat and drink in safety, then I follow her home to make sure she arrives safe and sound. She is healing slowly, but there has been improvements. She can't sit up or jump from branch to branch yet, but she seems to be in less pain this week. My poor little friend has had such a rough summer this year!
This photo was taken a few weeks ago. I look forward to seeing her smile again when she is feeling better.
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.
They really are lovely papers - I'm guessing this is the summery end of the spectrum! A gorgeous card. The photos are fabulous as always.... I adore the "shy trail friend" hiding out, and Rusty is a very handsome chap!

Adorable card with these fab papers, love all the distressed layers and the beautiful sunflowers!! That lace with the bow and the bunch of flowers is a delight!
ReplyDeleteWonderful birds photos, I'm glad that the Blue Jays has found a sure place to eat in your amazing patio! Poor Crazy Karen, hope that she could feeling well quickly! Her smile melts my heart, as well the cute One Eyed Willamina and the tiny Rusty. You have done so well to follow Crazy Karen for all the summer to be sure that she arrive safely at her home! It isn't possible she moved her home to your patio? Ask her on this possibility, please LOL :)
Big hugs
Another stunner Pamellia.gorgeous layers and colours and embellishments.
ReplyDeleteHope your patio is still in full colour and you are enjoying those restful days.Nice pics
Jules xx
Beautiful card! I love sunflowers. All the layer are so wonderful. Fantastic photos too!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, your card is absolutely stunning!! I love the amazing layers!! You've showcased the beautiful papers perfectly!! The sunflowers are so pretty!! Truly spectacular, my friend!! I love, love it!!
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing pictures, too!! I know I say that every time, but I mean it!! I keep meaning to send you an email to ask if you process the photos after you shoot in Photoshop or another program. Good gosh, Rusty is the most beautiful squirrel I've seen!! What gorgeous color!! And oh, I hope Crazy Karen heals quickly and she's able to jump again. The photo of the skunk made my nose wrinkle...I have one that loves to spray every single night. He's mostly white but the pictures I snapped didn't turn out too well. I hope you are doing well, my sweet friend!! Thinking of you and sending big hugs :)

ReplyDeleteluv CHRISSYxx
its stunning card!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card as always, Pamellia! Why did you have to take down your bird feeders--did someone complain? Love the photo of your shy trail friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Patty. Yes, apparently someone complained about having bird poop on their car and squirrels playing in the tree, so property management told me I had to remove all of my bird and squirrel feeders. This is one of the reasons I did a redesign after the patio was built and added in all of the railing planters... to give me a place to hide the food dishes. Unfortunately a lot of the birds won't come under the roof to get food from the dishes, so I've lost many of my visitors. No more Cardinals, Blue Jays, Woodpeckers or White Breasted Nuthatches.
DeleteI adore sunflowers - they are such happy flowers. Fabulous card, lots of wonderful layers, great colours and I adore the bunch of flowers and the big bow.
ReplyDeleteWe had a very wet August and I noticed last weekend that a lot of the trees in the forest have already turned red. I think autumn is well and truly on the way here.
Oh, poor Crazy Karen. I hope she is her old self soon.
Dionne xx
Same here Dionne. Our temperatures have been crazy cold for this time of year and the trees are already starting to turn colour. Looks like winter is coming early this year!

ReplyDeleteWinter hee has been cold in patches, but also very wet - we are so looking forward to the warmer temperatures and dry days of spring!!
Love your photos, as ever, and the sweet, quirky captions you give them. So glad to hear Karen is healing up.
Blessings

Oh my, your card is exquisite Pamellia! I love all those wonderful layers and the gorgeous sunflowers (I always watch the Tour de France, as much for the cycling, as for the fields and fields of gorgeous sunflowers!). The papers are truly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am super impressed at the photo of the skunk, you are one brave lady for sure! Crazy Karen really is adorable, I hope she is soon back to full health, it is so heartbreaking to see an injured animal... Hope all is well with you my friend! Hugs, Anne xxx
Yes I agree whats not to like with those new papers and indeed whats not to like with your amazing and fabulous card. Great colours, layers and texture...Amazing! Chuckled with your little anecdotes on your fabulous photos. Loved the shy little fella behind the leaf, the gorgeous bird photos and so glad that crazy Karen is slowly on the mend x Yes that's Summer over x
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful creation, love the sunflowers and the addition of the "fruit" flower, don't know what you have in it, but it's WONDERFUL, so are ALL the fabulous details you have made and coloured and scratched and painted, LOVE the gorgeous effect of everything. As for your photos, I always admire the patience and determination you have to wait for the perfect time to catch these wonderful animals.
ReplyDeleteHave a Wonderful weekend.

Oh WOW!! Your card is so beautiful Pamellia. I loooveee all the delicious layers and those beautiful sunflowers. The colour mix is stunning and, as always, your design is simply fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteHaven't been here for a little while and I have missed seeing your little friends. Was going to ask you about the feeders but just saw your reply to Patty. Some people need to get a life. What's a little bird poo if you can have all those gorgeous little critters coming to visit and play. You must be heartbroken that your little friends can't visit anymore. So glad that you can still see them on your walks though. Your photos are absolutely stunning as always. Have a wonderful day! hugs xx
Wow! Just look at all that distressing, Pamellia! Knowing you do it all by hand makes it even more cherished. Your shabby-nature look always melts my heart with its loveliness and endearing qualities. I love the way you have twisted the green ribbon atop the laces. Do you tape the back of the ribbon onto the back of the card panel, and then twist it around to the other side? It's really a great look. But I also like the way it does not flatten from the twisting - it's another of Pamellia's magic tricks to crafting. Beautiful tags as well!
ReplyDeleteYour critter captions are always happy and bring smiles to me - I talk on behalf of animals as well, and find it fun and imaginative. I wish they were not so afraid, but gosh, with so many humans all around, and SUCH BIG HUMANS, it is difficult to not be afraid. Yesterday I saw a cardinal escape the clutches of a hawk - it was amazing! Wishing you a great week-end! huggers, de
Fabulous card, love all those distressed edges. What a meanie complaining about bird poop! They obviously have no clue how wonderful and important nature is. Sorry to hear that Crazy Karen is still suffering, but so glad that she is able to find sanctuary on your patio. I did smile at the thought of you escorting her home though. You don't want to know what kind of weapons I'd armed you with in my imagination!
ReplyDeleteDear Pamellia, your card is stunning from every angle! I just want to hold it up and peek between the layers for some strange reason! It amazes me that you can take rustic sunflowers and make them so elegant. My favorite bit is that twisted ribbon and sweet butterfly.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you aren't able to hang the feeders anymore...that would really annoy me! Thankfully you are able to take walks and continue to capture these amazing photographs! A skunk??? Really?! Looks like you got an eye roll out of that cardinal! Love your shots and captions which just make me giggle! Sending hugs!
Love the new papers! Sunflowers how gorgeous and you're exquisite layering always amazes me! Love the critter pics! Love the shy trail friend and that rusty colored guy. I was wondering how long it'd be before someone complained about your furry/feathered friends. Such a shame. Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful details as always, you always nail that soft feminine theme, the queen of chic hun! Hope you're well my lovely, big hugs, Gee x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful papers, gorgeous distressed layers shabby chic to perfection--love all the nature pics-I had to stop feeding the birds behind our garden because someone complained about bird poop on their car--metal objects take preference over living creatures--I still feed them when he is out at work though :)
