Frilly and Funkie - Tis the Season

Hello Everyone!

It's time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie! We will be taking a break on the 16th, but we will be back on the 30th for one more challenge before the New Year chimes in! For this fortnight, the talented Nancy is our lovely hostess and she has chosen the theme 'TIS THE SEASON'. She would like you to create a vintage or shabby chic holiday themed project - whatever winter holiday you celebrate! One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

I'm very behind with my holiday cards this year, but now I can knock one more off my list. Is it just me, or am I stuck on the colour blue this year?? Hmmmmm, I will have to do something about that! lol

This card has probably been my worst experience ever with photography, I just could not capture the crystal glitter that covers the entire card. I took over 100 photographs and I just could NOT get the camera to grab even a hint of the sparkle, so I shot 20 seconds of the card in video instead!! Hope with have a quick look at this so you can see how truly glittery everything is.

A big thank you to my dear teamie Nancy Dynes of Tattered Treasures, who gave me the inspiration for this card with one of her gorgeous cards from last year. I pinned it way back when and then ran across it the other day. She is such a talented lady, you should really pop in and give her a visit.

The toy sign is from the Tim Holtz Ephemera Festive Package and the little JOY was stamped with a stamp from the Graphic 45 Christmas Carol set. That stunning piece of lace is from Linda's shop! She has the most gorgeous selection of laces, I'm completely addicted!

The papers are from Maja Design, the Summer Crush collection and the Vintage Frost Basics collection. The top layer I put a frosty pattern down with the Tim Holtz Flourish stencil and then covered the paste with Distress Glitter Rock Candy. The pearls are from Kaisercraft, the foliage sprig is from Sizzix Fall Foliage, it is also covered in three sizes of glitter!

The poinsettias were cut using the Tattered Poinsettia die from Tim Holtz. The poinsettia centers were punched with the new Spiky Floral punch from Sizzix. The twine and the gorgeous reindeer charm are also from Linda's shop.

GLITTER GLITTER EVERYWHERE
IT'S UP MY NOSE AND IN MY HAIR
IT'S ON THE FLOOR AND IN THE AIR
THE DOGS ARE COVERED - PUPPIES BEWARE!!

bet you didn't know I was a poet too!!

UPDATE:
my card won awards in the following wonderful challenges:

All of the following products that I used can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique

It's been pretty wet and miserable here this week, but that doesn't stop me from wandering around the neighbourhood with my camera! All the picnic tables and benches are deserted, it's just me and the critters left now. It was very misty out, but I had a hard time capturing that with the camera.

The plants sure do look different this time of year. They struggle in the cold, but these little flowers are surviving way past the other pretty petals around here! My cattails look very different too, although I really do still want to touch them! haha

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  12. That was a very kind comment about the card I made. I only wish I could find some way of making a card that had such gorgeous detail as yours but would still be flat enough to go in an ordinary envelop... maybe that could be my task for 2016 Lol! Take care and happy crafting, Angela x

  50. So, over the past year I have been fortunate to see much of your work up close and personal and can say I like everything but this has to be my all-time favourite. I love, love, love that you used some Maja papers. The colour palette is wonderful and the sparkle is sooooo pretty. I haven't put any glitter on my creations because I did the Christmas tree on Sunday and there is glitter everywhere just from ornaments. Thanks for treating me to more eye candy.
    Hugs!
    Cec

  51. Pamela - this is such eye candy! I personally love your blue palette - no matter how you use it! LOVE how your design follows the curve of that lovely flourish in the background, and how you've used the greenery and poinsettias to such great effect to emphasize that as well. Absolutely lovely! And your Ode to Glitter is quite true! I'd say you captured the ambiance of mist and fog quite well in your photos....such beauty surrounding you! xxx Lynn

  66. Glorious, glorious glitter! I did have to use my imagination just a little, because even with your fine photography skills, sparkle can be so elusive on film. But the video pushed this over the top, and this is indeed STUNNING! Mere words...but truly one of my favorites! Love blues, and seem to be quite caught up in them myself, so I will give you a pass. Your poinsettias are are drop dead gorgeous in their spray and the lace is simply icing on the cake! Glitter poem tickled my heart, because I was thinking something similar last night after yet another night of tossing glitter around my Closet! My face not only glows, it sparkles!

I love that you can see the beauty even in a misty dreary day, and capture it in your photography. The cat tail and the last photo remind me of your beautiful cards! Looks chilly, and I hope you've gotten that winter coat!
    Big hugs!
