It's time for another challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and More! This time around our lovely hostess Jackie has chosen the theme SENTIMENT, so she wants to see your creations where the sentiment is the focal point of your design.
Have you ever met anyone with OCD? Welcome to my world of 'obsess much?'. This card here is not the original card, nor is it the second version...what you are looking at is version NUMBER THREE!!! I knew what I wanted but I just couldn't seem to get it right, so I kept starting over and over again like some sort of lunatic! Truth be told, if I had time I think I would have done it just one more time...turns out I think I would have preferred silver accents instead of gold. Like I said...lunatic!
The first version got thrown in the garbage before it had even dried, I had used some Liquitex inks but it was so dark and I just couldn't get it to look right. This image below is the second version. This time I tried some Brusho crystals. It was photographed and even uploaded before I decided it still wasn't right, the colours were too scattered. Back to the drawing board - AGAIN!
For version number three, I used just a dribble of Distress ink spray Cracked Pistachio for a uniform and more subtle colouring in the background. THANK HEAVENS!! My main experiment for this card was some home made glass bead gel which I used to create the texture. It's a mix of Super Gloss Gel from Liquitex and some clear microbeads. It's so much fun!
The sentiment here is from a Fiskars stamp set called Make a Wish, it was stamped with Jet Black Archival ink.
In the background is some stamping using an Inkadinkado stamp set and black Archival ink. The roses are made from hot glue and a silicone mold. I coloured them with Brusho Crystals, some white DecoArt paint and then highlighted them with a bit of gold gilding wax.
The butterfly was made from Crafter's clay and a silicone mold. I hope you can see all the fabulous texture that I created with my home made glass bead gel. I dabbed some of the areas with white paint and rubbed a little gold wax onto some of the other areas.

Having a bit of OCD tendencies myself, Pamellia, I completely understand! That being said, I think both cards are beautiful. I love all the textures.
ReplyDeleteI can only begin to imagine how tactile these are irl Pamellia, the one with the hints of green is probably my favourite, but all are lovely.
ReplyDeleteB x
WOW! Pamellia this is gorgeous! I love that texture and the little roses look amazing. Need to get that silicon mold! What a creative way to make little butterfly's body! Love it! Another fabulous creation my dear! Thank you for the inspiration :) and have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI would have just been happy to make anything that looks like this one....gosh it's stunning.xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a perfect take on that photo that"s for sure! It's a lovely piece of art and I know what you mean about getting things right ... To me there is something inside that says 'yes or no' ... You have to go with that part of your soul ... I've yet to open my cracked pistachio Lol! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely are very harsh on yourself Pamellia! Your end result looks incredible, just love all that tactile texture and beautiful colourings. The glass beads add wonderfully too. Never heard of hot glue in mould (roses), they look stunning. Love the sentiment although I have just read it out to my Mum who I'm with, and she isn't too enamoured with it!! Gorgeous make as always, have a great week. Nicola x
ReplyDeleteStunning layers and gorgeous shabby chic tones and colours, Love the hints of gold gracing the tops of the texture, a truly creative and beautiful piece of art xx
ReplyDeleteJUST ONE WORD:

Happy new week Pamellia!
Really pretty, with lots of fun techniques. We are our own harshest critics, sometimes.
ReplyDeleteAnother layered wonder! Your home made roses and butterfly are SO pretty - it doesn't seem possible that there is actually card stock at the base of all this beauty - you have transformed it!
ReplyDeleteWOW absolutely stunning Pamellia love the gold accents and the beautiful detail and colours, love the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteHugs Julie xxx
Wonderful card and sentiment! How good that we have bins to hide those pieces that go wrong! Have a lovely day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI totally get your OCD here Pamellia. This card is a stunner,,,cool...and those resin flowers looks pretty!
ReplyDelete'The Third Time's a Charm' as they say. This is beautiful Pamellia.
ReplyDeleteLorraine
You are way too hard on yourself but then again, I get it because I am my own worst critic. I love the end result and you certainly nailed the colours in the photo inspiration. You always create the most awesome texture and this card has that in spades.
ReplyDeleteHugs!

Well hallelujah I am not he only one that makes things over and over, my bin is always full lol. In fact I have made a box four times today to get it right, a project that should take half an hour has taken me hours, it's official I now feel more normal thank you lol . Love your card and that sentiment taking centre stage is perfect. Love the clay butterfly and that wonderful delicate touch of colour. Wonderful texture and altered design. Tracy x
ReplyDeleteOh Pamellia I can't believe that one of your amazing creations ended up in the bin!!
ReplyDeleteI think we are all a bit OCD, and constantly doubt our creations. It's so nice to know that it is normal amongst the crafty set.
I wish I were a little more adventurous with my cards. The textures that you have created are just fantastic. You have my address if you need a home for any of the off casts lol.
Hugs Kimx
Always love your makes and you final version is amazing. The sentiment certainly deserves to be centre stage
ReplyDeleteLove Chrissie xx
Beautiful card, Thank you for entering it for the Glitter n Sparkle Challenge blog xLisax"
ReplyDeleteabsolutely stunning Pamellia !! love the colors and the lovely effect of the homemade glass bead gel !! your hot glue flowers and butterfly is gorgeous with the bead body !!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful in my eyes . You are just toooooo hard on yourself but then I too tend to be like that sometimes . Love the flowers ans butterfly just wondering where you get the molds or do you make your own .?
ReplyDeleteThanks Marilyn. I actually get my molds from so many different places. Etsy, Ebay, Amazon, craft stores, flea markets...you name it. I am always on the lookout for new molds. I've considered making my own, but the process is somewhat complicated and I am much too lazy for that! haha! hugs :)
DeleteLots of Ooohs! and Aaahs! here….. Both are stunning! My philosophy of "It is what it is….life's too short etc., etc.," clearly will never get me to your level of creativity! That said, I have plenty of rejects in my bin but hardly ever get around to re-making projects - maybe I should remember something my dad used to say - "Try, try and try again!" Hugs, Chrisxx
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, stunning, Pamellia!! Version three is amazing, as was version two!! I'm sure version one was, as well!! You are way to hard on yourself!! In fact, I can't image you make anything less than spectacular!! Ever!! Amazing texture!! Fabulous layers!! Gorgeous colors!! Everything about this is phenomenal!! Wow!! Jaw-droppingly gorgeous, as always!! Have a great day :)

ReplyDeleteGoodness me Pamellia you are such a perfectionist I bet all the thrown ones were good too. Your number 3 is really stunning though just fabulous. Great colours and a fun sentiment. Do you know that I have never ever binned a piece of paper craft ..I make a point of rescuing it...it's my challenge to myself and comes from my cake decorating when you can't bin the cake you just have to rescue it however. .lol. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous creation, Pamellia - you have stick-ti-itiveness!! And I laughed at that sentiment l- oh my, it is SO true! Thanks for sharing your talents with us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous creation Pamellia - I like the blue one too, but this one features my favourite turquoise colour. I think the gold highlights add a lovely touch of elegance and it pretties up the roses perfectly. Your glass bead gel looks fabulous and I can only imagine how wonderfully tactile it is xx
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Pamellia! I love the textures!
ReplyDeleteSo, so glad you persevered because it is stunning!!! I love how you used the glass bead gel, it creates the most wonderful texture, the colours are beautiful and those roses are gorgeous.... the whole tag is! So glad that someone else doesn't like to give up, in your case it is obvious creative genius - in mine it is just plain stubborn! Love this beauty. Hugs, Anne xx

You are crazy! haha - I would have been thrilled to have your earlier versions. That glass bead gel creates such a cool texture! And those hot glue roses?! Ah-mazing!
ReplyDeleteThose cards are amazing!!!! I esp LOVE the one with the blue :-) Roses are fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Pamellia and I say cards because I love #2 as well as #3, very beautiful the pair of them. As for the sentiment I seem to be on one heck of a downhill rollercoaster, time is disappearing way too fast.
ReplyDeletehave a great week.
hugs Brenda xxx
Well I think all your fussing and redoing was worth it! Version #3 is absolutely beautiful! I like Version #2 as well but I think you really nailed it the third time! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteStunning creations Pamellia! I LOVE all of the textures and your gorgeous flowers!! Both versions are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Tammy
Oh, My, Pamellia! LOVE these colors...and it's that 2 great minds...AGAIN. You'll see soon enough. But your cards are fantastic; I do love #3's colors, but I'm partial to them. Happy you went with gold vs. silver. Again, just because 2 great minds think alike. Those molded roses are to die for, and oh, the bead gel!!!! I'm in love! I could sprinkle that on my ice cream! Just another breath taking work of art here! big hugs!

Oh Pamellia, - you are funny with your OCD..... and you are way too hard on yourself too. Having said that, the finished card/tag is completely stunning!! Love the colour you eventually landed up with and oh all those textural elements and the embellies, they just look amazing!!! xxx
ReplyDeleteI dread to think how much gets wasted judging by the number of times I keep emptying the bin at the side of my desk, your cards are stunning, I love the colours and they look so delicate yet tactile, hugs Carole Z X
ReplyDeletePamellia, I am in LOVE with this card!!! It is so dreamy. Third time was the charm, my friend... although I say number two is also lovely. :o) The colors in this version are so beautiful and I am enamored with the microbead work! I adore microbeads but have not used them in quite some time. I would love to use them as you have here, but I'd need your creativity! ;) The butterfly and flowers are gorgeous and the design throughout is impeccable. The texture of your cards leaves me speechless. I love everything you make, including this gem! :o)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Karen

ReplyDeleteAnother beyond gorgeous creation! xxx
Love this card Pamellia -- what a wonderful idea to make your own glass bead gel. I would love to see this card in person to catch the nuances of the background. Wonderful layers and great way to use the Distress Stain Sprays. I like version #3 !!! Worth the effort :) -- Mary Elizabeth

Oh dear, Pamellia, you are just too harsh a critic on yourself!!! Your creations are always stunning, even the ones that you judge a "mess' or "failure", and this one is no exception (stunning, I mean). The colours are gorgeous, those hot glue flowers are amazing, and well, what can I say about your bead gel 'invention'....does "brilliant" cover it? LOVE all the wonderful textures, and the gold accents look great.

The only lunacy going on here is that you threw something in the bin! LOL! It was great, but I totally understand going back to the drawing board until you get what you want! GORGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all... I totally laughed out loud last night at this sentiment and then laughed again realizing it was on such a SPECTACULARLY BEAUTIFUL card. I am still smiling this morning because usually such a comic sentiment is on some strange looking character card!!! This is just wonderful... I have a princess girlfriend that this would be perfect for - eheheheheh!!! You always amaze me Pamellia.
ReplyDeleteSecondly.... I just have to say... I am just SURE I would have been so happy to have made your first try... your leavings would be GLORY to me since my card making abilities are in developmental mode!!!! You are soooooooo over the top WONDERFUL that your worst is most of our best. It's true - it really is. Nevertheless... this is a WONDERFULLY STUNNING and FUN card. High Five! j.

Wonderful designing as usual, and super wonderful colours to go with the challenge.

Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Third time is the charm! This is just luxuriant with texture and details. I am totally intrigued by the hot glue roses!
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha Bubbles! I had to laugh at the sentiment that is front and center. Awesome sauce! The best part is the luscious and gorgeous framing around said sentiment. You just don't expect it. You merged opposite ends of the spectrum with this fantabulous creation. Hugz to you muffin! ~Doc
