I do hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I had the most interesting lunch on Saturday. I thought I would cook up a nice vegetable stir fry with a bit of chicken, so I cut everything up and threw it together in a pan. I added a packet of chicken broth for a nice light flavour. Turned out is wasn't chicken broth at all, but in fact I had added a packet of Crystal Lite Pink Lemonade mix instead!! SO GROSS!! Bologna sandwich, here I come! HAHA!
Well, it's time for another challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and More! This time around our lovely hostess Sue has chosen the theme STITCHING, so she would like to see real or faux stitching on your project.
I have been playing a lot with this new Ecoline product, so for this card I decided to switch up the substrate and used a clear gesso for the base. It did not work very well, the Ecoline didn't blend very well with the Gathered Twigs distress stain, so I ended up with kind of a mish-mash of colours. I figured, what the heck and rolled with it!! The stencil is from Wendy Vecchi.
I added some Ranger Rock Candy Crackle paint here and there for some added texture. I rubbed a little DecoArt paint in the cracks to accent them. The corner piece was a dark pewter, so I added some white paint and a little Krylon silver leafing to brighten it up, ditto for the button.
The flowers are my usual Joy Crafts die cuts with a touch of Salty Ocean and Gathered Twigs distress inks. The leaves are from Prima.
The tag is from Tim Holtz. I stamped it with my favourite LaBlanche flower stamp and coloured it with the Ecoline inks. I think I need to find a new favourite flower stamp, this one is getting beaten to death! HA!
Beautiful card, Pamellia! I love the stamped image on the tag as well as the pretty flowers and leaves. Background looks wonderful--there are no mistakes in crafting even if the colors aren't what you expected. I can image your meal had an interesting taste! lol
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Pamellia, love all the little elements you have added.
ReplyDeleteLove & hugs

Hi Pamellia
ReplyDeleteSorry its been a while. I like the way your colours have melded. Adds to the interest on this fab creation. Another one you could enter over at MAWTT.
Would stick to the pizzas Mrs J. At least you can craft with the boxes afterwards lol!
Best wishes.

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Pamellia, good thing you were not expecting company for dinner! LOL too funny! I hate when I do the "mindless" things like that - I'm auto pilot and don't really watch what I'm doing LOL Have a great week! xo
ReplyDeleteGoodness me Pamellia, I can't begin to think what that stir fry might have tasted like !
ReplyDeleteLoving all the merging of colours and texture of the base and those flowers look so pretty with the tinted edges.

Oh my, your stir fry sounds dreadful! You're not the only one who's done this type of thing, believe me! But your project is beautiful! The background looks amazing and I love the texture you've achieved!

I'm having a little giveaway on my blog if you would like to take a look - http://craftingwithcotnob.blogspot.co.uk/
Very pretty! I love those Prima leaf dies, don't you? I don't think I have seen the LaBlanche flower stamp. I like this, even if it didn't turn out like you intended. On the cooking side, I once baked a cherry pie from scratch; crust and the filling, too. It smelled delicious! But...I forgot to put any sugar in the filling! Inedible!!!

I'm so glad you used the "less blended" background. I love the interest it adds. The flowers and leaves (those leaves!!!) are gorgeous, and I adore the altered metal touches that you added! (so glad you made an alternate lunch for yourself, Lemonade chicken does not sound delightful, hahaha)
ReplyDeleteWell, thank goodness you didn't have guests!! :-)) gorgeous blend of blue and brown, worked out perfectly, a beautiful card with all those exquisite touches. Ruth x

This card is so pretty. I love the blues. The textures and flowers are gorgeous. As for the stir fry.....it reminded me of one of my children cooked chili and added cinnamon instead of chili powder. Another gross. Thanks for joining us at Come And Get It challenge. Bunny- DT
ReplyDeletePamellia, this is wonderful as ever! Despite the background not working as planned, I'm glad you rolled with it... the effect is still fabulous! Your color palette is so pretty and I am always fall in love with your flowers. I've never seen handmade flowers shaped and inked so beautifully. The stitching is lovely alongside the abundance of texture. :o) Marvelous work, my kind friend! Have a happy day. (... without crystal light-chicken mixes! Hehe!) :o)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Karen
Hi Pamellia, I did laugh your cooking sounds just like mine lol. Never mind your artwork is tasty anyway, a feast for,the eyes. Love love stitching in artwork and I love the touches of crackle and krylon along with your inky background. Gorgeous x x x

ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the close ups of the crackling, it is a fantastic background, even if it did not turn out as you wanted - a happy accident! A very happy accident as the whole piece is stunning. It is such a long time since I tasted a Bologna sandwich..... sigh... Hugs, Anne xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Pamellia. Hugs Veerle :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Pamellia, I see your sewing machine is behaving once again! Your stitching is impeccable! Your entire card is just gorgeous, with all those amazing Pamellia textures and lovely shades. The black really sets those soft blues off and makes for one striking card!
ReplyDeleteI think I would take the bologna sandwich over the stirfry. My hats off to you for trying to eat well, and actually cooking lunch...something I never do!
The place we vacation every year serves all from scratch food, family style, eat as much as you wish...my kind of place! The first time my husband and I went there, we had pancakes for breakfast. The syrup was home made and HORRIBLE. We thought "what have we gotten ourselves into?" Later we found out someone had switched the sugar and the salt. Yuck! Stuff happens! Never had bad food there again in over 20 years!
It's always a joy to visit your blog, Pamellia! Big hugs!
I got to thinking...I think it was actually the pancakes, not the syrup that was messed up...I don't think syrup is made with sugar. Just goes to show...I don't do much cooking from scratch!
DeleteYour sweet savoury stir fry sounds 'different' but as you don't recommend it I won't give it a try.
ReplyDeleteYour card is something else - beautiful background and gorgeous colours. Love it.

ReplyDeleteThe blog candy is so fun and I would definitely go for it but I should leave it for someone who needs to make a pink baby creation - I know I won't have need of a baby card - thank goodness!!! Thanks bunches for putting it together though Pamellia - it's just so fun!!
Thank you too for your sweet notes on my blog - they mean so much to me! j
LOL Pamellia, a pink lemonade stir fry, you may be on the cutting edge of a new food trend ☺ This card is so lovely and I think the Ecoline and the DI are playing very nicely together. Wonderful textures and beautiful flowers as always, thank you for sharing this beautiful stitched card and thanks as well for the info on the Ecoline watercolours you sent me!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful design and love the flowers and leaves
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I am sorry but I am still laughing at your pink lemonade mix-up, I have done that sort of thing in the past and doubtless will do it again.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, I love the colours, especially the subtle inking on the flowers (what a pretty colour) and the fab background.
Your blog candy give away is such a generous thing to do and, as much as I would love to win, I do not think it fair that you should have to pay the postage to the UK.
Dionne xx
Your card turned out great Pamellia, unlike your lunch :( I love the color combo and that amazing little tag! I have that same wooden flourish from Michaels :) By the time I think of it, to add it somewhere, I am already pretty much done with my card. Anyways, back to your card: the flowers are so gorgeous as usual and all the pretty embellishments are arranged so nicely!!! Just fantastic!!!
