Divas by Design - GDT - Tags

Hello Everyone!

Today is my second Guest Designer appearance over at the fantastic challenge blog Divas by Design. I was really excited to learn the theme for this challenge...TAGS! How fun is that!

Here is a quick peek, then I'll dish all the details.

This challenge is sponsored by Live And Love Crafts.

- for the background and the tags (Tim Holtz - Tiny Tabs & Tags), I put my design down first using home-made texture paste and a Prima stencil Decor Two. Then I painted it with some DecoArt Paints 3 different shades, which I mixed myself.

- I highlighted the raised areas with some white paint and then took my brand new Krylon gold leafing pen and rubbed a bit of that over...well, just about everything! This thing is great, it has such a metallic shine to it, and will dry on anything!

- I cut the frame from Tim Holtz Tags & Bookplate die set and antiqued it with home-made texture paint. I added a little bit of Tim Holtz distress stain Antique Linen, then highlighted it with the gold leaf pen around the edges.

- the leaf sprigs are from Joy Crafts and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The ribbon was coloured with Tim Holtz distress stains Spun Sugar, Antique Linen and Victorian Velvet.

- Aren't the pearl sprays beautiful?? Totally forgot that I had them...boy was I excited to run across this package in the bottom of a drawer! I just love it when that happens, it's like finding money in a purse you haven't used in a while!

- here is an unobstructed view of the textured background once I took the tags out. You can really see the gold highlights here, which made me happy...metallics can be hard to catch on camera. You can also see the beautiful laces that I used as pockets to hold the tags.

- I have left the backs of the tags blank, so I can add a personal note later.
