Vintage Christmas - Doing it Funkie Style!

Hello Everyone,

Well my first Christmas celebration of the year is all over. My Mom has gone home and the house is back to normal. I had such a great time shopping and crafting with my Mom, I squeezed every minute out of our week together. Thank you for all the wonderful comments you left while I was gone, it was so nice to hear from all of you!

It's been a while since I had a chance to join in all the fun over at FRILLY & FUNKIE, but this time around I just couldn't resist! The theme currently is A VINTAGE HOLIDAY and I normally do a sort of a Frilly card, but this time I couldn't shake that deep desire to go Funkie! I have recently discovered this whole new world of shimmery products and I have to say how much I wish my camera would show you how truly glittery everything is...just close your eyes and image...just kidding...keep them open...seriously! lol

I just received my stash of Lindy's Stamp Gang Moonshadow Mist ink sprays and I was dying to play with them! They were my prize from Craft Hoarders Anonymous for my Tim Holtz card made out of office supplies.

I started with cream card stock and gave it a layer of white Gesso for texture. Then I used a ColorBox Mandala stencil and some of my home-made glitter paste in iridescent and applied it through the stencil. While it was wet, I sprinkled on some UTEE then let it dry. I melted the UTEE and then started with my sprays! First some Bronze, then some Gold, then some Pewter! Amazing!

It actually changes colour as you turn it in the light. Sometimes you can see the bronze and gold, so it looks brown...sometimes you can see the silver, making it look kind of dusty grey! How fun!

I got the idea for the cardboard layer from Tim's November Tag. As usual, I took it in a completely different direction, but hey, that's what it's all about right! I coloured it with some Tim Holtz Gathered Twigs so it would have a more yellowish tinge to it, then I stamped it with Ranger Archival ink Coffee using the French Script stamp from my spanking new Tim Holtz stamp set called French Memories! Lastly a couple of spritzes of Lindy's for some shimmer.

Hey MRS DUCK...I will give you three guesses where I got the cardboard from? Yep, I recycled a pizza box!

The poinsettias are cut from Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia die. I coloured with Festive Berries distress ink, then highlighted with Gathered Twigs, spritzed with Picket Fence and dabbed with Champagne acrylic paint. For the center, I spritzed the pearls with Bronze Lindy's spray and added a little paint then overheated them until they bubbled, giving them that aged look.

I am entering my Funkie Vintage Christmas Card into the following wonderful challenges:

- Frilly and Funkie - A Vintage Holiday (it can be any holiday)

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  50. Pamellia, Again, I am speechless at the beauty of your card! I really don't know what to comment on first, but each and every detail just oozes vintage, and yes, you have nailed funky! Two of my favorites! But you somehow manage to make it look a little frilly (at least to ME!, since frilly is practically unattainable for me). I'm loving all the glitz, the poinsettias ROCK and those centers you aged are the perfect touch! It is absolutely the truth when I say that every project you do is my favorite! This one is no exception! Hugs! On to check out your other, but first I must get my heart rhythm back, as it sure skipped a beat when I saw this stunner!
