Vintage / Shabby Chic Christmas

Hello Everyone!

I am officially ready for Christmas! My shopping is done and my cards are all finished and in the mail (at last count, I had made just over 100 cards this year, yipes!) All that is left is a bit of wrapping, which I plan to do with some wine and a couple of good movies!

Today I would like to share a Christmas card with you that is on it's way overseas to a friend as we speak. It's a little bit vintage, a little bit shabby chic and a whole lotta TLC! I hope she likes it!

I was inspired by this card I found on Pinterest, unfortunately,  I had no luck in tracking down the original artist. I loved the colours and the layout of having the upright lamp post on a tall and skinny card, so I started with that and went from there. I thank the original artist for the inspiration!

The frame was cut from Tim Holtz Bookplates and Tag. I coloured it with Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy then coated it with Rocky Candy crackle paint. I rubbed Gathered Twigs distress stain into the cracks and threw on a bit of snow using my DecoArt Snow Writer and glitter. The poinsettia is also Tim Holtz.

The tag was just cut by hand and stamped with Tim Holtz Wallpaper background stamp using Ranger Archival ink Coffee and then I spritzed it with some Brushed Corduroy ink spray and added some snow and glitter to the corners.

Thought I would try something new, so I tore off a strip of vellum and then added a design by using my home made texture paste and a Memory Box stencil called Adornment. The vellum did warp a little bit, but I think it's completely worth it for the wintery look you get!

The lamp post die is from Kaisercraft. The rust effect on the lamp post I credit to my good friend Cec of CW Card Creations. I was lucky enough to spend another day crafting with her last week and she taught me her Rust Technique which is the best I've ever seen! If you would like to learn how to do this amazing technique, you can read all about it in her post MAKING RUST.

The snowflake stamp is from BoBunny and the sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations. The foliage was cut using Impression Obsession Pine Branch, Dee's Distinctively Ponderosa Sprig  and Tim Holtz Festive Greenery.

I am entering the following wonderful challenges:

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  2. What a breathtaking card Pamellia! Work of art and a priceless keepsake! I love the colors you chose for this beauty, the street lamp is a show stopper! I have to hop over to Cec's and check out how she makes rust! Love the velum layer, that stencil is gorgeous! The poinsettia is superb (as usual :)) I love the damask design on that tag, I am a big damask lover! The frame is absolutely marvelous with all the paint and crackles and the snow is just the perfect little detail on it. WOW WOW WOW! Another project that blew my mind! Thank you for bringing so much joy and beauty to this world my friend! BIG hugs from Vegas!

  7. Afraid I can't say much abut your card Pamellia as for whatever reason Blogger is not showing me photos the last couple of days, not to mention the silly thing in the comment box on lots of blogs where the cursor just goes along but doesn't type. Sooooooo frustrating.

  9. The end result is even more spectacular than all the individual elements that I saw. The snow on the card is timed so well considering the snow we got last night. As much as I love it on your card, I don't really care for it on the roads :( Good for you getting everything out in the mail and lucky the recipients of your fantastic cards. One thing though, you need to stop raising the bar because every time you do, I feel like the incredible shrinking woman.
    Hugs!

    1. haha, raising the bar...that's ironic coming from the person who taught me the technique I used! You silly gal! I don't like the snow on the roads either, but I have to admit, it is quite the beautiful scene off of my balcony right now! holiday hugs my friend, see you soon! :)

  10. Beautiful! Love the way you did the vellum. Can I ask what you used to emboss the poinsettia ? I think you said it was the TH poinsettia die? Or is it a poinsettia stamp that you have fussycut? Anyway I love this card.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thank you so much Marci! The poinsettia was cut from Tattered Poinsettia from Tim Holtz and I used the matching texture fade embossing folder set called Poinsettia Pattern. I believe both have been retired unfortunately. holiday hugs :)

      Delete
    2. Thank you for your answer! I have the die but not the embossing folder. I never saw or noticed a matching embossing folder until you and the Funkie Junkie used it, recently. Of course, now I want it and can't find one. Oh well. :-))

  30. Hi Pamellia
Just when I think you're all frosted and textured out, you come up with another piece of yuletide yumminess (yes, that is a real word. . . . .or it should be!) 100 Christmas cards? Heavens to Murgatroyd, I don't think I know 100 people that I like enough to make a card for lol!
Go steady with that wine. Alcohol, wrapping paper and tape is not a great combo. . . . . . . So speaks the voice of experience!
    Best wishes.

    1. Thanks Ang! About half of those cards are for customer orders, the rest are for family and friends...I have a huge family! When I say wine, I mean one lonely little glass, never really make it past that because all it does is make me hungry! ha! holiday hugs Ang :)

She is doing better so I am playing catch up. It has been a bit of a tough day, so do you mind if I come back? you know what your projects mean to me and right now I just want to save them for tonight when I am more at peace. It's not been a good morning/afternoon. But I did want to leave you a quick note to tell you that I'm thinking of you and missing your creations. There will be no better treat for myself tonight than to finally take in your creations when things are a little calmer. Thank you for being such a loving and understanding friend.

Pamellia, your creations are always exquisite..I just want to dive into them to observe every teeny tiny detail! The rusty lamp post is stunning and I will be reading up on that technique! The Bo Bunny snowflake stamp is gorgeous and I am enamored with all of your snowy accents. I really love the look of the texture paste atop vellum... and I say any warping just adds more texture! :o) The crackling, jingly bells, and poinsettia are equally glorious. While every individual element throughout is indeed beautiful, it's always the way you pull everything together that heightens it to stunning. What a JOY it is to spend time on your blog. :o) Lovely work, my talented friend!
