New Mixed Media Challenge Blog

Hello Everyone!

I am so happy to share some exciting news with you today! There is a new challenge blog starting on May 5th called ANYTHING BUT CUTE and I will be there!! I sure hope to see you there too!!



We are a monthly mixed media challenge blog with a new challenge the 5th day of every month at 7:00 am EST.

We welcome all types of crafts - cards, journal pages, scrapbook pages, 3D crafts, canvas art, altered items and any other handmade paper or mixed media arts. We encourage crafters of all skill levels and styles. shabby chic, grunge, vintage, elegant, stylish, retro, you name it (unless the challenge requests a specific style). As our name indicates, the only style we are not showcasing - are all things cute and adorable.

Feel free to use digital images and sentiments on your art, but final projects must be tangible works. All digital images and stamps must be fashionable, realistic, decorative or vintage in nature. Cute cartoon animals, colouring book style doodles, and juvenile images are NOT what we are looking for. Real photographs of your children are fine (the only exception to the cute rule) lol.

At ANYTHING BUT CUTE we love to see all the seasoned and expert mixed media artists, but we also want to encourage those who are just getting their feet wet. Our design team will always be on the lookout for these exceptional projects and artists. You just never know when we might be giving out something special to a talented mixed media newcomer. We all have to start somewhere, right?

Don't forget, we are a mixed media challenge, so there must be at least one mixed media product on your project somewhere, be that paint, ink, stain, spray, paste, clay, crackle glaze...whatever you want.



Starting today, we will be introducing the design team, one team member every few days. Take a hop on over and see who are first team member is...you won't be disappointed!

    Congratulations, Pamellia, on starting your own challenge blog. I have signed up as a follower, and although I am a real newbie to the world of mixed media, I hope to join some of the challenges (all, if I can). I must also congratulate you on what appears to be your perfect organization with the schedule (some challenge blogs can be very haphazard in that aspect).

    Hi Pamellia! Very very exciting. Everything you do is always fantastic and this will be too - no doubt about it. So fun to be in on the beginning time of a new blog. So happy that you are including canvas. It seems to me that canvas artwork is not as popular on some sites. Reading your description of 'Anything But Cute' puts new hope and encouragement in my heart for a "place" to fit. For me, it's not about winning as much as it is just know that your work is accepted as appropriate to the challenge and enjoyed. I'm rambling - ugh. Thank you for taking this step towards encouraging even more creativity. j.

    Well, I don't do cute, unless forced to at pokey tool point as a DT requirement so will have to take a peek at this.
    Mind you, you know me, normally I think of mixed media as using more than 2 different colours of ink hahaha!

    Well get you girl!! Way to go and huge kudos and congratulations to you my friend. This is very exciting for your lovely self, the design team and all of us potential entrants. Challenge sounds like a breath of fresh air. My fingers and toes are crossed for your great success. Anyway, I will now show my ignorance! I've just read the challenge rules, I thought 'mixed media' involved some type of substrate that had metal or chipboard or something chunky stuck on it. I didn't realise that inks and paints were of themselves 'mixed media'. Guess I have a whole lot to learn... Have yourself a lovely weekend Pamellia. Nicola x
