It's time to start another challenge over at Try it on Tuesday. This time around our theme is IN THE FRAME. Decorate a frame, use a die cut to create a frame or use a frame embellishment, as long as there is some form of a frame on your project, we would love to see it!
Lately I have been using a lot exploding, glow-in-the-dark type colours on my cards, mostly because of the fun new products I have been using. Ecoline inks, Brusho Crystals, Ken Oliver Color Bursts and even the new Distress Inks have been very vibrant this year. I love the bold and beautiful, but I've been craving something more soft and subtle, so this week I'm toning things down (literally). Today is a Christmas card, I hope you like it.

I love the bold and beautiful, but I've been craving something more soft and subtle, so this week I'm toning things down (literally). Today is a Christmas card, I hope you like it.
I used only two colours on this card, Distress inks Weathered Wood and Milled Lavender. A little ink pads, a little ink sprays and even a little paint, but only those two colours The damask pattern is made with a Memory Box stencil and some texture paste which I coated with iridescent glitter while the paste was still wet.
The poinsettias were cut with the Tattered Poinsettia die set. I stamped the Joy Craft sentiment onto a piece of acetate so you can see the background underneath. The frame is made from hot glue and a silicone mold. I painted it white and added a little Weathered Wood paint to antique it. The pine branches were made by rolling silver Cheery Lynn Fringe die cuts around pieces of wire. That's it, easy peasy.

ReplyDeleteIt's the second mention I have seen of Ecoline inks this week Pamellia, I had some many years ago and at the time most people thought I was barmy messing with them, how peoples perception of crafting has change. And I think I still have them stashed away somewhere.
ReplyDeleteYour creation today is another stunner.
Your comment made me smile, I don't spend all my time crafting - I wish, but we usually only have a few days to prepare for TV shows once the products arrive so it's usually a manic few days.

HI Pamellia,
ReplyDeleteanother of your superb creations, and wonderful colour choices.
Beautiful designing as usual, and gorgeous poinsettias.
To answer your question about me finding the time to finish my creations inside and out, is I don't sleep very well, and haven't done for a good many years, and sometimes I am in pain, and crafting helps me cope with all that.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Gorgeous, Pamellia! I can't decide which I love more, the fringe fir sprigs, or the glittered background.
ReplyDeleteYou make the most stunning creations, Pamellia! How long does it take you, on average? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie! This project took me three days to do. I use a lot of mixed media products that require drying in between layers, so that really adds to the overall time it takes to make it. I always have more than one thing on the go though, so I set one thing aside to dry and work on something else while I wait. To time to dilly dally. lol
DeletePamellia, this is so beautiful. I love the soft colour palette. I'm in awe of your fabulous inky and mixed media skills. Just gorgeous hun. Hugs, Wends x

ReplyDeleteOh my... Pamellia, this is truly one of the loveliest Christmas cards I've ever seen. I adore every aspect of it and my sentimental heart is fluttering wildly. The sparkly stencil work is exquisite, the soft color palette is beyond dreamy, and your poinsettias are unlike any I've seen before. Sweet friend, I am forever thankful for your gift, as I've told you before... I just cannot help repeating myself. I love this so much. I may at long last be able to dabble into mixed media later this month... I am equally terrified and excited. Thank you for the endless inspiration. :o)
