Frilly and Funkie - Springtime Die Cuts

Hello Everyone!

It's time for another wonderful challenge over at Frilly and Funkie! This time Nicole is our lovely hostess and she has chosen the theme SPRINGTIME DIE CUTS. She would like you to create a shabby chic or vintage style project celebrating Springtime and remember to include die cuts. This month the world celebrates Earth Day on the 22nd, so I thought I would put a green foot forward and make a card almost completely out of recycled Kraft Paper. The butterflies, the tags, the flowers, the leaves, the lattice and the wood backing are all made out of Kraft paper. Hope you enjoy my Spring Earth Day card.

The bottom layer is another new attempt at a wood technique, I love experimenting with natural textures. This time I coated the wood with Wendy Vecchi crackle paste and then treated it with various Tim Holtz inks and sprays and let it dribble up and down to create the grain.

The top tag was coated with Picket Fence crackle paint and coloured with Shabby Shutters and Tumbled Glass sprays and then some more dripping with Gathered Twigs and Peeled Paint.

The sentiment is from the new Graphic 45 series called Time to Flourish. I stamped it with Ranger Coffee Archival ink and then fussy cut it out and coloured it with Copic markers.

On the bottom tag I used the Tim Holtz Flourish stencil and some crackle paste and then dripped distress sprays into the cracks. The leaves were dabbed with Picket Fence paint and then sprayed with Peeled Paint spray.

The large butterflies were treated with Tumbled Glass, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint and dabbed with Picket Fence. The small butterflies were coloured with Wild Honey, Scattered Straw and Squeezed Lemonade. The pearls are from the new Kaisercraft collection, this colour is called Chino, a beautiful vintage colour of pearl now available at Linda's shop.

The flowers were coated with Picket Fence crackle paint and then I dripped Victorian Velvet spray all over the petals. The doily is one of the only pieces cut from regular white card stock.

Crafty Cardmakers and More - #136 - Wings

Hello Everyone!

Well, it's time for another challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and More! This time around our lovely hostess Mary has chosen the theme WINGS, so she wants to see something with wings. It can be birds, planes, fairies, insects or even a steampunk clock, as long as it includes wings.

Last July, when I wrote my very first post, I had added a soft glow to my photos. I really liked, I thought it made them feel romantic. My hubby didn't like the way it looked, so I stopped doing it. Recently I have really been swooning over the lovely photos my good friend SAMRA always has, so I have decided to add the glow again. After all, he's a dude, what does he know a bout romance! HAHA! Let me know what you think.

I had so much fun making my DecoArt card last week, I decided to try another one. I really enjoy working with the paints and other mediums, I am discovering so many new things with these wonderful DecoArt products. You will be seeing much more of them in the future as my stash gets bigger!

I used DecoArt Crafter's Acrylics Tropical Blue, Lavender and Americana Titanium White to make the background.  I tried a new technique on a challenge from the lovely FAITH. You can find the tutorial on my Facebook Page HERE..

I applied a little DecoArt Medium - Crackle Paint here and there and then stamped some music notes for a little extra design.

The flowers were cut using Sizzix/Tim Holtz Tattered Florals. I covered them with DecoArt Medium - Crackle Paint and then used some watered down DecoArt paints to drip into the cracks. I also coloured the cheesecloth with DecoArt paints, Tropical Blue and Lavender.

The frame and flourishes were made using crafter's clay. I covered them with DecoArt Medium - Crackle Paint and stuck microbeads to it while the paint was still wet. I painted it with the DecoArt paints and then spritzed it with water so the paint would wash off the surface. A little dabbing with Titanium White paint to shabby it up.

The beads you see here are actually miniature ice cubes. I bought them from a doll house furniture supplier. I mixed them with microbeads and then used DecoArts Decou-Page Matte to attach them. Cool right! The butterflies are from Kaisercraft and the sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations.

Stamplorations - Guest Designer - Stamps & Numbers

Hello Everyone!

I am really excited to be here today as the Guest Designer for the fabulous STAMPlorations Challenge Blog. I was honoured when Shery asked me to join in for the April challenge, and when she told me the theme would be STAMPS & NUMBERS, I just knew I wanted to do something masculine. I grabbed the Big Numbers Background stamp from the STAMPlorations Store and got to work. Here is what I came up with.

I decided to do a ONE STAMP - THREE TECHNIQUES card using my numbers background stamp. I also really wanted to include some spring colours to bring the card to life a bit, so I went with bright blues and greens and added the black to butch it up. lol

For the first technique, I did a plain old stamping on white card stock with Ranger Archival ink Jet Black and then stamped a Rubbernecker Crackle Background on top of it.

The 'enjoy the journey' sentiment is from the Tim Holtz stamp set The Journey that I got from my wonderful and talented friend SARA EMILY BARKER of sarascloset. Thanks Sara Emily, you're the best!! The balloon is from Graphic 45, which I stamped and fussy cut out.

The tags were both cut from the Tim Holtz Bookplates and Tag die set and then I just trimmed one to make it shorter. Here is my second technique for the numbers background stamp. I stamped in black Archival ink and then spritzed and blended colours over top.

The arrow down the side was done with some black paint through the Tim Holtz Arrows stencil. I spritzed it with distress sprays Shabby Shutters and Tumbled Glass and a little Picket Fence. The flourishes were cut from the Spellbinders Floral Flourishes set. I painted them with Tim Holtz Broken China and Peeled Paint, then sponged on a dash of Black Soot and Picket Fence paints.

For the back layer, I used the third technique with my numbers stamp, a emboss resist. I stained it with Black Soot and spritzed a little Picket Fence. The 'discover' sentiment is a Tim Holtz Chit Chat sticker.

The compass stamp is also from my wonderful new stamp set The Journey. The arrow in the center is cut from the Tim Holtz Cupid and Arrow set and then I trimmed it down, painted it black and coated it with clear embossing powder. The newsprint stamp on the back tag is from Impression Obsession.
