Eight Tiny Reindeer

Hello Everyone!

I think I am becoming addicted to the ornament shaped Christmas cards! They are a little more difficult to put together, but it's just such a festive shape, it's worth it! I can't help myself! This one was made with papers from My Mind's Eye and Recollections. I just love these reindeer images!

The sentiment banner is from Canvas Corp, the poinsettia die is from Sizzix and I used Pion Design Palette paper White I, the leaves are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The little styrofoam balls are actually from one of the dogs toys that busted open! Gotta recycle!

The frame is made from hot glue and a Martha Stewart mold, the doily layers are Cheery Lynn, Prima, and Spellbinders, the 3D pine branches are made using a fringe die from Cheery Lynn, the wee reindeer is actually a button from DeSerres and everything else is from my stash.

As I was skimming through Instagram yesterday morning, I saw so many people posting photographs of the snow they got this weekend. OK, I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I live in Canada and there is no snow here! Don't get me wrong, I love autumn, it's so pretty! But let's face it people, I'm a snow addict so I say bring it on already! lol

This photo was taken early in the morning before the sun came up, on the edge of the lake.

Enjoy the sun little one - soon the cold will have begun.
(or perhaps that's just wishful thinking on my part)
Sweet sweet Sparrow.

Flashback to when Taylor was just a baby.
She's almost fully grown now, but I haven't been able to get any good shots of her.

So remember the landscapers and their habit of scooping up leaves faster than they fall? Well I figured if I want some autumn squirrel pics that I better do it myself, so I walked out to woods, filled up a bag with leaves, then walked back to the park and dumped them on the grass! HELLLOOO!

"So what if I'm a squirrel, who says I have to stand while I eat!"
~a trail friend~

"Oh Hello. My name is Tingle. I'm a very curious little squirrel. I love to watch the human and make her giggle by popping up from behind the tree! Hope to see you again!"

"OK, that crap in the food bowl tastes like feet! Now stop joking around and gimme a cookie!"
~Crazy Karen~
(Karen's response to fresh pumpkin. Lol)

UPDATE: Karen has been doing much better the last week or so. She still limps a bit and is still a bit wobbly, but she's keeping very busy foraging for winter and putting on her winter weight.

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.

So I've been trying to grab some cute pics of the squirrels playing in the leaves, but the darned city workers rake them up as fast as they can fall. I've decided to take a bag out to The Shire, fill it up with leaves and then dump it on the grass in the park, just so I can get some darned autumn shots! Wonder if that's considered littering? lol.

Meanwhile, a quick trick of the eye with this landscape photo. It's actually not an autumn shot. I took this as the sun came up and lit up the tops of the trees. Sure looks like autumn leaves, doesn't it!

"Wait, this is my good side, ok go ahead and take the picture now."
~Mr Blue Jay~

During the horrific heat wave we had last week, I noticed the birds trying to sit in the squirrel water dish, but they keep getting chased away, so I have put out a nice new hanging bird bath for them that the squirrels can't reach. This Sparrow is trying to figure out what it is. Hilarious!

Since I discovered Pigeons, I've been fascinated with the amazing variety of colours and patterns these beautiful birds come in. What a remarkable bird!

"Pardon me Ma'am. You got any spare food for a hungry old gal? I'll let'cha pet me!"
~African Pygmy Goat~

"How long do I have to sit pretty before you throw me a frickin' cookie!"
~Stan Lee~

"I am not the frog you're looking for!"
~Baby Kay~

"Excuse me Miss. I found this on the forest floor, but there's only half. Do you happen to have the other half?"

And the heat wave continues. This is as hot as it's been all summer. So hot, that we've closed the outer door, something we've only done once before, since we moved to the new place. Humidity is the 90% range making it difficult to enjoy the outdoors. And here I was thinking we were going to get an early winter, so silly of me! lol

I don't often get the chance to capture a Dove perched in the trees, they spend most of their time on the ground. Such beautiful birds!

How excited was I to see my first ever Quail, and this Gambel's Quail sure was a fun one to watch!

Has anyone ever seen the tv show called "Zoo"? On one hand, how creepy and scary. On the other hand, we totally deserve it, don't we! I've often wondered what some of my wildlife friends would do on an episode of this show? I mean, what would a mob of angry bunnies look like, really?

This is a sweet little visitor I named Porter, you met him back in July. He has a fabulous orange tail and frosted orange tips on his fur! I do hope he visits again some time soon!

Hey Baby Kay! You're supposed to eat out of the dish, not sit inside it! Silly kids!

"OK lady, that's the worst disguise ever, you don't even look like grass!"
~a trail friend~

My little buddy Rusty, escaping the heat in the shade of the tree leaves.
