Crafty Boots - Something for the Lady

Hello Everyone!

Just a quick thank you to everyone for all your kind words about Dianna. I cried a lot as I read all the comments, but you gave me so much comfort with your thoughts and wishes! Thanks so much for helping me grieve. Now on to the fun stuff!

I'm super excited to be here today as the Guest Designer for the fabulous Crafty Boots Challenge Blog . Their current theme is "SOMETHING FOR THE LADY". How perfect is that, a great excuse to allow 'Soft Angel' to take the reigns and do something super feminine that I can send off to my Mom when Mother's Day rolls around! I decided to put a video together on this one, so if you care to watch, you can find that further down the post. Hope you enjoy.

I received several inquiries about this heart frame the last time I used it, so I will address that here. I won the silicon mold in an Ebay auction last year. I don't know who the seller was or if there are any more. I'm sorry, I wish I had more information. So here is the video for you, if you care to have a peeksie. Thanks so much to everyone!

Remember I told you about the leak in the rain gutter, well I discover this morning that a little bush beside the front door has gotten covered in icicles because of it. Aside from a light dusting of snow, it's the only bit of real winter around here, so I took quite a few shots of it!! lol

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Anything But Cute - #11 Crazy for Colour

Hello Everyone!

It's my favourite day of the month, the 5th!! That means it's time for another challenge over at Anything But Cute! The absolutely amazing and talented Branka is our hostess this month and she has chosen the theme "CRAZY FOR COLOUR".  I hope you haven't put those sunglasses away just yet, because you will definitely need them today!

Here is what Branka had to say about our challenge theme Crazy for Colour "It's almost Spring - a time when the nature is waking up in amazingly beautiful colours! To celebrate it, we would like you to create a mixed media project using vibrant colours. It can be a tag, card, art journal page or anything else. Just be sure it's vibrant!"

You heard the lady, pull out those neon paints and vibrant ink sprays and get to crafting!! Don't forget to pop on over to Anything But Cute and see the amazing designs that the rest of the team created!

HOW DID SHE DO THAT?? With 374 easy steps! Just kidding. lol

- I put the pattern down with a Memory Box stencil and some thick Liquitex Gesso. Once that dried, I randomly smeared and globbed on some Golden Glass Bead Gel and let that dry as well.

- I put together the embellishments that I wanted to use. Most of these were hand made using various molds, some with hot glue and others with crafter's clay. I also cut out some canvas flowers using the Tattered Florals die and threw them into the mix.

- I coated everything with some DecoArt Chalk Finish in white, two coats did the trick. Then I arranged everything the way that I wanted it and glued it all together.

- I splashed on a little of my home-made resist spritz, which is just some Decou-Page diluted with water in a Mini Mister. The inks react differently with the resist than they do with the chalk paint, creating an amazing effect.

- a splash here and a spritz there, using Dried Marigold, Mustard Seed and Abandoned Coral. I did a sort of Ombre with the yellow representing the hot sun beaming down onto my flowers.

- for an extra splash of colour, I did the butterflies in Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio. After it was all put together, I muted everything down a bit with some white paint and a sponge. Bright is bright, but holy moly!

Today, with such a sad heart, I share the last photos of my sweet Dianna that I will ever take. My balcony will never feel the same without her there. I apologize for the depressing display and I don't mean to upset anyone, but I feel like if I don't share these, I may never start the healing process. She deserves to be remembered.

Goodnight sweet girl.

One of my favourite things about winter is when we get freezing rain. I just love the way the ice forms on every branch of every tree. Well, no such luck this year, but there is a leak in our rain gutter, so some ice formed on the branch underneath. It only lasted one night, but it was beautiful!

The sun is finally start to head towards the North horizon which means I get a glimpse of the stunning skies from my balcony again! YAY!

My first shot of a bird!! I'm always so envious when Valerie posts her bird pictures, so this one was a real treat for me. Darned things don't sit still long enough to grab a pic! I think it's a Blue Jay??

And last but certainly not least, my darling Scully enjoying the peace and quiet. She loves it in our new home as much as I do.

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.
