It's time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie! This time around Shelly is our wonderful hostess and she has chosen the theme CHALK IT UP. Chalk is such a versatile medium and we want to see how you can use it in your vintage or shabby chic creations. You can choose a faux chalk technique, chalk inks, powdered chalks, or even a stick of chalk - it's up to you! One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!
For my chalk part of the project, I decided to use the chalkboard technique to do the border and the little emblem panel. I started with black card stock and white embossed the stamped images with Ranger Weathered White embossing powder. Then I took some white chalk and rubbed it randomly over the surfaces to make it look like an old chalkboard. The stamps I used are Graphic 45 Time to Flourish and Stamper's Anonymous Classics #19. The panel is cut from Spellbinders Nobel Rectangles.
The butterflies are from the Tim Holtz Papillon stamp set. I stamped them with Ranger Archival ink Jet Black and coloured them with Peacock Feathers and Crushed Olive distress markers. The leaves were cut using the Tim Holtz Garden Greens die set. The seam binding is coloured with Crushed Olive.
The coloured panels are done with Tim Holtz Broken China, Shabby Shutters, Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers. I used the Tim Holtz Flourish stencil and texture paste to add a subtle pattern.
I put this out to Tim Holtz as a big giant request...not everyone makes tags exclusively! It's very difficult to utilize those long skinny tags on a standard card surface, so how about you make my day and design a line of stencils for a larger surface? Pleeeeeease!!
The beads are from a Spellbinders chain that Linda now carries. I just pulled off the biggest beads, coloured them with Stream Alcohol ink and threaded them through some twine with bead caps from my stash The big metal flower is also from Linda's shop. I painted it with Black Soot and then embossed a touch of white on the petals.
All of the following products that I used can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Another wonderful card Pamellia, really love all the textures. You are so right about Tims stencils, wonderful as they are they are difficult to use in card making so some 6x6 would be perfect!

BEAUTIFUL!! So dreamy hun, I love the colours too. the black contrasts so nicely with the brightness from the others xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous layers! LOVE the layers, love the white splatter!
ReplyDeleteYum, yum! Love those colors! It's great to see the contrast of the hard "chalkboard" against the soft vellum leaves and shabby bow. The beads and flowers are the perfect embellishment, and your chalkboard technique is just perfect, too! I'm with you on Mr. Tim's stencil size...same with the texture fades. I'd say let's boycott, but that would not last long for me! Hope your move is progressing smoothly! Big hugs, my friend!

ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful creations, Pamellia. Love all the layers! Well where Tim's stencils are concerned, he mainly makes tags and I agree it would be nice for a larger surface, but I just move them around to cover more card! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteStunning creation Pamellia! I love the beautiful colors and your fab chalkboard elements!
