Some photos today from one of our hikes along the river. When we first came out onto the trail it looked so user friendly. I was sort of relieved and disappointed at the same time. lol. It did NOT stay that way! Eventually we were stumbling over tree roots and ducking under branches, but there were lots of interesting things to see along the way, so I was ok with that.
The water was so extremely low in this area that there were parts that were almost dry! The upside is how lush the foliage is around the river, such a difference from the burnt, dead world back at the house.
These thistles don't seem to care about the drought, they are thriving and look beautiful!
This Cedar Waxwing was way out on a branch over the river, so the quality's not great, but I was so excited to see a new bird!! Another one that I can cross off my list! So pretty!
And back on the home front, I am still seeing so many baby birds and squirrels! I'm so surprised this late in the year to see this baby Starling and baby Red Squirrel.
TINY TINA says hello from the railing as she keeps a careful eye on me. The angle is different here, because I'm sitting on the patio! So cool that they trust me enough to relax when I'm right outside.
PATRICIA has a little lay down while she nibbles on her lunch. We are still fielding temperatures of over 100 degrees, so any bit of shade they can get is probably a relief.
JUNIOR doesn't lounge around on the furniture as much as he used to, but he's never that far away. You can see him on the ground here below my window, displaying his usual laziness! Note the dead grass, the dead leaves and dead pine needles. This drought has made it look like November around here. Sure doesn't feel like November though!
My morning coffee shot with a touch of artsy thrown in for dramatic effect. tee hee
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.
UPDATE: we got two days of fairly heavy rain this week!!!! YAY!!! I am hoping to see a little green grass sprouting soon, what a relief! Just a little more to save the dying trees and I will be one happy camper!
Pretty colours and lots of lovely elements of interest Pamellia.

Ah beautiful Pamellia - this would be just perfect for a wedding I am going to next week!!! Just gorgeous xxxx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning card, the papers are gorgeous and love all the embellishments too. What amazing bird shots, I've never noticed the blue on the Starlings before, maybe just on Canadian ones, the cedar lapwing is beautiful, love his tuft of feathers on his head, photos are fabulous as usual, Kate x
ReplyDeleteOh, your card is so romantic!! Perfect for a wedding!! Lots of wonderful layers and lovely details as always!! Love expecially that adorable laces and the berry spray clusters!
ReplyDeleteHow you do to know all the names of the birds and the plants that you see? This is a big knowledge of nature!
I'm very impressed by the tree grown inside/around the net. How strong is it!
And I'm stunned also by the drought where you live... Poor nature! No wonder that the squirrels look for a bit of shade! I have read the update and said "Hooray" for you all!! Hope that the sun will not immediately dry the water.
How cute are the new babies!! And Tiny Tina promises to become indeed very domestic! Junior is so fun as always and love the fur of Patricia, it seems to me to can touch it :D
Hugs
Thank you so much Alice, you are so sweet! I actually spend quite a lot of time researching the local wildlife and plant life. It's fun to be able to name something when you see it out in the wild. hugs :)
DeleteI think we had all your rain! Fabulous card ... Love the ribbon, it really makes everything pop! Super photos!
ReplyDeleteI reckon you are the Queen of luscious layers Pamellia. This is very lovely indeed. Check the colours on that little starling, sooo beautiful. Live the twisting wood around the gate too. Have a super week. Nicola x
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful creation Pamellia, although this one feels a little different but I cannot quite put my finger on why. I think it may have something to do with the lovely chipboard embellishments and the central image. I love all of the gorgeous lace you have used and these lovely papers, this really is very romantic.
ReplyDeleteYour lush green photos from around the river bank are such a contrast to the ones outside your house. It is hard to believe how long your 'hot spell' has lasted but I hear that the naysayers are predicting a particularly harsh winter this year.
Have a great week.
Dionne xx
Wonderful layers and so romantic.
ReplyDeleteJulie x
Oh wow, Pamellia, your card is absolutely stunning!! The layers are so gorgeous!! I love how you've highlighted the beautiful image!! It's so soft and romantic and spectacular!! The flowers and bow are perfection!! Love, love it my friend!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous walk along the river!! Of course, I don't have to duck under branches or stumble over tree roots, so thanks for doing all of the hard work ;) The Cedar Waxwing is so beautiful!! How awesome to see one in the wild!! They come through here every spring and spend a few days eating the berries on the trees and I just love seeing them :) I'm so glad Junior is still hanging around...or should I say lying around ;) Yay for rain!! It turned cooler here today...highs mid-70's so it's a perfect fall day in the summer!! I hope the water turns the grass and leaves green for you!! Have a great day my friend!! Big hugs :)

A beautiful and romantic card, lovely vintage image, fabulous lace and layers, so perfectly crafted (as always!)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, such a contrast between the lush greens of the river and woodland walk and the photos taken near the house, hard to believe that there's just a short distance between them. Amazing detail on that baby bird's wing...looks as if it's been drawn on!

Great that you have eventually had two days of rain...Ye Ha!!! Amazing photos of your hike but such a shame to see effects of the drought. Yes thistles thrive here in Scotland too. Loving the squirrel updates and yep still looking lazy. You are so lucky to see the red squirrel, rare in Scotland. Fabulous card with so much detail and loving the layering and the romantic image. Thank you for sharing x
ReplyDeleteAnother delightful card. Just adore all the yummy layers and such pretty colours too .. so romantic and so divine!! The shots taken during your hike are stunning .. I love bush walking too but don't do enough of it. My hubby couldn't handle the rough terrain and it's not much fun on your own, so I am living vicariously through your photographs .. LOL!! That starling is gorgeous .. way prettier than the ones we get down here and I am so glad you finally got some decent rain. Hope and pray you get lots more soon. Thanks you so much too for the lovely comments you leave on my blog, I really, really appreciate them. hugs xx
ReplyDeleteUtterly beautiful, that romantic sketch steals the show in this amazing design. Your cards just wisp me away to a dream. Love this! Hugs, Autumn
ReplyDeleteOh Pamellia, my heart has just skipped a beat... this is romance at its finest. The soft layers filled with radiant trims is more beautiful than I could ever portray. The cascading ribbon is stunning and I just want to frolic amongst your perfect floral ornament. Stunning as ever, my dear friend. Thank you for the lovely inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are spectacular and I do so enjoy taking your journeys with you via your posts... what a stunning area you call home. Nature's beauty and nature's sweetness are right beside you every moment. :o) Thank you for filling our hearts with all things happy, Pamellia. :o)
Hugs and blessings,
Karen

ReplyDeleteLove your photos, so glad you have had some rain, we have had too much and today we have it hot! at least in the late 70's early 80's. I know not hot for you, but yesterday was decidedly chilly and wet, so today seems HOT! - sorry LOL.
