Frilly and Funkie - Winter Wishes

Hello Everyone!

It's time for another fabulous challenge at the FRILLY AND FUNKIE challenge blog! Thank you so much to everyone who joined in for our last challenge, there were so many gorgeous projects to feast my eyes on!

This challenge is being hosted by the very talented Nancy and she has chosen the theme WINTER WISHES.  She would like you to share what you love most about the season. You can create any type of project, layout, or card that expresses what you love about winter, whether it's sledding down a snowy hill or curling up with a book and a cup of hot cocoa.

What I love most about winter is the gorgeous scenery. In my home town, the mornings are spectacular, with the soft blue sky and the glittery snow sitting on every branch as far as the eye can see! Since our house is basically in the middle of a forest, it's not unusual to see deer prancing through the front yard! It's a breathtaking view from behind the big window in the warmth of the house lol !!

For the blue layer, I painted a piece of white stock with a very pale blue paint and then spritzed it with Picket Fence distress spray. I used a Memory Box stencil and some homemade texture paste to add some rays of light through the sky. I covered the paste with Tim Holtz dry glitter Rock Candy for a gorgeous glimmer.

The brown layer was stamped with a Tim Holtz snowflake from the Winter Sketchbook stamp set and distress ink Walnut Stain.

The trees were cut using Tim Holtz On the Edge die Treeline and covered with home-made iridescent glitter paste. One layer was coloured using Tim Holtz distress spray Iced Spruce, the white layer was coated with Rock Candy distress glitter.

The reindeer was cut with Tim Holtz Reindeer Flight die and coated with Picket Fence Crackle Paint. I used Walnut Stain distress ink to accent the cracks and blend onto the edges.

The sentiment was stamped with Archival ink Potting Soil and a Joy Crafts stamp. I accented it with Iced Spruce distress ink.

The Tim Holtz On the Edge Distressed Doily die cut was stamped with the Tim Holtz script stamp from the Papillon stamp set using my Walnut Stain ink pad and edged with my Walnut Stain and blending tool.

The seam binding was coloured with Iced Spruce and Bundled Sage. I layered it over a trimmed piece of burlap ribbon and attached it with my BRAND NEW Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher!!

I am entering the following wonderful challenges:

All of the following products that I used can be purchased at THE FUNKIE JUNKIE BOUTIQUE --

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  6. Morning Pamellia,

Oh such a stunning design , I love winter scenes and reindeer so this is fabulous. Love all your techniques but I think I have mentioned this before lol! I think I will have to invest in the picket fence crackle paint as it looks lush and really adds that something extra.
Lucky you to have deer outside your window, I could sit and watch them for hours.

  49. Pamellia, my sweet and precious friend, how I adore this! It truly represents the beauty of winter, doesn't it? Your layers are always flawlessly done and brilliantly designed. I LOVE how you used the stencil for a wintry (and sparkly!) landscape, rather than the typical warm sunrays. The deer is exquisite and I love the layered trees in varying hues and textures. I looked at this for so long last night that I honestly then ran out of time to comment! Ha! Stunning creation! I really hope the glitter I have will work properly for the glitter paste.. there may not be enough octagonal shapes in it! Fingers crossed. :o)

  50. Hi Pamellia
Just playing catch up again. Your card is delicate but wonderfully atmospheric. That, with your lovely description of the view from your window back home, paints a fab picture.
If we are "lucky", we see the neighbours cat leaping across the garden, shortly before a blast from the hosepipe after its left a little something in my flower bed! Other than that, its just birdies, squirrels and foxes round here.
    Keep warm and well.

    1. Thanks Ang! Our city view is pretty good too actually, 11 floors up, overlooking protects park lands, so the tops of trees is about all we can see. I think a cat leaping wouldn't fare too well up here! ha! big hugs :)
