Crafty Boots Guest Designer - No Stamps Allowed

Hello Everyone!

Super glad to be here today, as I have the honour of being the Guest Designer for one of my favourite challenge blogs Crafty Boots. Their current challenge theme is "NO STAMPS ALLOWED". I know I know, not too much of a hard one for me right? lol

I shall now welcome you to "Pamellia's Schizophrenic Week of Mojo"!! Here's how it goes. On one shoulder is 'Bold Angel', she is saying "Bold and beautiful, do it yourself!". On the other shoulder is 'Soft Angel', she is saying "Soft and subtle, pre-designed!". So buckle your seatbelts ladies, because this week will be one heck of a ride!

...and 'Bold Angel' takes the lead!

I thought I would do something with a little spring pizazz using some of my new Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and Baseboard Mists from Canvas Corp Brands.

I have been having so much fun playing with my new products from Tattered Angels and this background came together so easily with some thick Gesso, a harlequin stencil, some white paint, and some inky sprays. Here are the Canvas Corp Brands products that I used for this card:

TATTERED ANGELS:

The leaves are from Joy Crafts and they were coloured with Baseboard Mist Paint - Grass and Glimmer Mist - Dark Vintage Green. The butterflies were made from crafter's clay and a ModPodge mold and I spritzed them with Glimmer Mist - Dazzling Diamonds for a subtle shimmer.

The pretty yellow straw came from my talented and sweet friend Sanderijn of Live, Laugh, Love

I made the large blue flower out of polyester ribbon and coloured it with Glimmer Mist - Dragonfly, the yellow roses were made out of grosgrain ribbon and coloured with Baseboard Mist Paint - Daffodil and Glimmer Mist - Marigold, the doily die is Prima Crochet Doily.

I've made a video tutorial on an improved version of the ribbon flower (the blue one), and that will be live on Saturday.

UPDATE:
My card won an award in the following wonderful challenge:

***

I got outside for the first time in a couple of weeks. I'm sure this will surprise you...NIGHT SHOTS!! lol. When I stepped onto the walkway behind the house, my heart completely sank...my favourite little tree in the crossroads of the trails is GONE!! The oak trees here in Ontario have been getting sick and this mild weather is causing the disease to spread faster and further than it should. They estimate we could lose 100,000 trees this winter! So sad!

I've been slowly trying to build a trust with my balcony resident Dianna, and to my complete surprise, yesterday I walk around the corner and there she is...perched right up at the door. she won't take peanuts from my hand yet, but she sat right in front of the door while she ate! Is she the sweetest thing you've ever seen or what!!

She's so sweet, that I feel I have to enter a photo of her into Our Beautiful World - 135 ~ Sweet!!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  1. Hi Pamellia, how I giggled when I saw your post....we are sharing the Guest designer post together over at Crafty Boots....what fun is that! Your card is gorgeous, very different colours which work so well. How sad that your oak trees are dying...we had dutch elm disease over here in the 1970s and it wiped out our elm trees ;0(. I have the day off work today as we're looking after Bear, I think he would chase Dianna given half the chance! Keep snug it looks pretty cold for you. Hugs xx

  22. I love this bright and fresh creation Pamellia and reading your post I'm sure you loved creating it too using your new stash of Glimmer Mists. Such beautiful textures and layers in your creations I love them.
It's really sad about your tree too, Oak trees are such majestic structures and to lose so many of them to disease is awful.

  23. This is just awesome Pamellia, it really makes me think of spring and new awakenings. I just love your butterflies and that sweet polka dot bow. I cannot wait to watch the video. Thank you so much for being our Guest Designer.

I am so sorry to hear about your trees, what a disaster. We also have it here but at the moment it is not as bad as you have it. Our countryside has never really recovered from having Dutch Elm Disease, which has wiped out 60 million of our elm trees according to the UK Forestry Commission.

  47. bold Angel High HO! Love your brilliant work of art--such beautiful contrast with the whites and so artfully arranged! Your blooms are fabulous, and I'm looking forward to Saturday's video. Maybe I'll have a video day--I have a lot of catching up to do.

Dianna is such a lady...now this is what our squirrels look like--not that exotic black fur. Great shots of both the little lady and those eerie night shots. Phooey on the tree! Last week I took the kids to school to see that nearly 20 trees were chopped down along their sidewalk! Whaaat??? And the stumps aren't all neat and pretty, either. We are slowly loosing our nickname of City of Trees.

    Big hugs to you!

  48. Bold Angel wins for sure! I am always amazed by your ability to create and add so many beautiful details to your designs, Pamellia! Love the colors! 50. Heheheh - it's REALLY good to know which two angels are sitting on your shoulder this week Pamellia!!!!!!!!!! I think your bold angel did extremely well today!!! The yellow looks like mustard on my screen so seems like the colors are unique and interesting together. I like it! Your flowers are - as always - just lovely. And I really like the "white" space. BOLD IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

Sooooooooooooo happy and fun that Dianna has a SWEET post. But gracious - did you see the entry with the two dogs - WHAT - yuk!!! I love Dianna's picture and so glad she is starting to trust now.

So sad about the trees - we have lost a lot too. Of course - we use the wood from the dead trees for projects here on the ranch but it's still very sad to see them go and our forest thinning.

Glad you are feeling like getting out again. XX j.

  54. Oooh, congratulations Pamellia! I love Crafty Boots, too. They are so blessed to have you. :o) I adore your crafty heart... isn't it funny when 'conflicting' sides of craftiness both want to bust out? Everything you create is brilliant and inspiring, including this bold work of ART! I love the color palette and every dreamy detail. The blooms are stunning, the butterfly is perfectly majestic, and OH that background! How can it even be put into words? Gorgeous as ever, my dear friend... and thank you for sharing other bits of your life with us once again. It's so sad about the trees. :( Sending tons of sappy sparkly love your way, sweet friend!

  55. " singing - Spring is busting out all overrrr" with the most incredible creation, I LOVE LOVE LOVE those flowers and look forward to the video. The colours are so vibrant and fresh and EVERYTHING about your card is amazing, I fall off the edge with words when I visit.

Sorry to hear about your Oak trees, you need (and us) a really hard winter to get rid of all those bugs. Our Larch trees are falling foul of a virus too and thousands are being cut down, from fully covered mountains to bare mountains. so sad.

Love your little squirrel, she looks smaller than the others?

    1. Thanks Faith. Yes, this mild weather is playing havoc all over the place with the trees and the animals. Dianna is much smaller, yes. I'm pretty sure she is brand new to the world. Probably why she's so shy and all alone. Poor thing!

  59. Well, my dear - I'd say you are off to a great start to this crazy week..... your bold side looks fantastic!! As does your sweet little resident :-) Such a pity about the trees.... but the good news is they can be replaced - we lost a lot of trees in what was known as "Elm City" here in New Haven because they did not know to be proactive. My neighbor started a tree replacement program about 5 years ago, and we already have very lovely tall trees (of diverse types to avoid a massive "group" infection again) everywhere. Hoping your community can do something like this! Thanks, as always, for the wonderful inspiration! xxx Lynn
