It's time for my third of four Guest Designer spots over at the wonderful challenge blog Just Us Girls! This week is Colour Week and the colours are "AQUA, TEAL & NAVY". I decided to put together a birthday card that I can stash away for when I need it. These colours work great together, I do hope you will join us this week!
The flowers were punched out with Sizzix Tattered Floral punch and coloured with Tumbled Glass distress ink. The background leaves were a digital printout from some time ago, but I'm not sure where they came from. The butterfly is also a Sizzix punch. The floral border is from Memory Box.
The layers were coloured with Evergreen Bough and Chipped Sapphire and I stencilled the Art Is pattern from Crafter's Workshop using a touch of white paint. The sentiment stamp is from Heartfelt Creations and everything else is from my stash.
When hubby and I put up our Christmas lights on the balcony this year, they weren't up even two weeks before they were all burnt out. I told him it was fate, I said that it was the last remnants of our old life in the city fizzling out. A couple of weeks ago, I made a startling discovery...I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!
WHAT!!!! Oh my gosh, she could have been electrocuted! Hubby and I have decided that next year we will not be adding any lights to the garland, and I will set out extra peanuts to make sure everyone has enough food and doesn't have to resort to eating Christmas lights! Poor thing!
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Haven't ventured outside much yet, but I did catch some nice shots of the sunrises and sunsets by leaning out various windows this week. I'm feeling much better, but thought it best not to push my luck. That's OK, there's always lots of crafting to do.When hubby and I put up our Christmas lights on the balcony this year, they weren't up even two weeks before they were all burnt out. I told him it was fate, I said that it was the last remnants of our old life in the city fizzling out. A couple of weeks ago, I made a startling discovery...I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!
"OH PLEASE THERE MUST BE SOMETHING TO EAT HERE SOMEWHERE!!"
"AHHHH - THANK GOODNESS, I AM SOOOO HUNGRY!!"
"OH - THE LOVELY LADY GAVE ME A YUMMY PEANUT
- NOW I DON'T HAVE TO EAT THESE THINGS. I WILL JUST DROP IT HERE."
UPON CLOSER INSPECTION - THIS IS WHAT DIANNA'S BEEN EATING!

Gracious me Pamellia... there are at least 15 layers on this card if you count each ribbon type and the butterfly... probably more than that... being overwhelmed by the mere thought - I stopped counting at 15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't you have to put this WONDROUSLY LOVELY creation in a BOX to give it????!!!!! FUN!!!! It is just BEAUTIFUL.
ReplyDeleteAnd HELLO - Dianna - YOU are supposed to be the smart one - REMEMBER??? No wonder you are sooo tiny if you eat wire and glass girl. Now you listen to your Mommy and eat the right kind of food. If you will just trust her... she will literally put it in your mouth. Can't get any better than that now - can it Dianna???
Sunrise/Sunset, Sunrise/Sunset - quickly flows the years.... Fiddler on the Roof!!! You made me start singing it with your Sunrise/Sunsets!!!! So thankful you are better and will be out and about soon. XX j.
What a gorgeous, layered textured beauty. I love the all those staggered layers and contrasting colours building up to an amazing focal! xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful texture and layers you have here, it looks like an actual bouquet. Some of my favourite colours and the pretty butterfly is the perfect finishing touch to your fabulous card. Poor little squirrel but so cute.

Just glorious! I love all of the colors and beautiful textures- and as always, appreciate all of the photo's of details you present us with! Glad you are feeling better : ) Love your beautiful landscape pictures- lovely! And, my husband loves squirrels- I will have to show him this- dang squirrels!
ReplyDeleteWOW, wow, wow! This is gorgeous Pamellia. I LOVE your beautiful bouquet of blooms. Adding the black and white digital leaves in the background is so cool and really makes your coloured blooms pop. Love all the glorious layers of goodness and amazing details you add to each and every embellishment.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset pictures. Sorry you haven't been well, but happy to hear you are feeling better. Take care, my friend. And as for those little visitors ... can't believe that they think would each the wires ... they couldn't have tasted very good. I have little visitors that come and visit each spring and dig up my bulbs from my pots on the deck. I place the pots up higher, not that it deters them very much, but at least some of my flowers survive. :) xx
You used these colors so wonderfully on this beautifully layered card!
ReplyDeleteJust Us Girls is right girlie! Those colors are absolutely stunning together and adding the grey image-pow, bam, wow! (That's the comic book nerd coming out of me lol). Your layered design is absolutely something I have to try! You sure give me some eye candy Bubbles! Gorgeous and stunning!
ReplyDeleteYour little friends sure are keepng you busy! Good thing they're cute! Hehe! Hugz to you muffin! ~Doc

ReplyDeleteHow lucky that Dianna didn't come to any harm with the lights xx
Really beautiful ... and so opulent. All of those fabulous layers and that amazing bow. I love the blue berries and flowers, not to mention the cute butterfly. I learn so much from you, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness Dianna was not hurt, I know you would never have forgiven yourself if anything had happened to her or one of your other family members. Perhaps next year you could add stings of monkey nuts to your garlands (although you would probably have to replace them every day).
Dionne xx
