I'm back with another journal page today, and of course, my journal pages always come with a video, so you can find that further down the post. I am featuring a couple abstract stamps I received through Scrap n' Art Magazine from Impression Obsession. They are from the Seth Apter line, so in honour of him and his amazing unique style, I thought I would do something I've never done before...abstract art!! You may not be able to tell at first glance, but this is actually a city...it's just UPSIDE DOWN! How fun is that!!
Can you see it, can you see it???
HOW 'BOUT NOW...
You won't believe what technique I used to create the background!! Is the suspense killing you?? OK, so without further ado, here is my abstract, upside down city journal page. Thanks to everyone for all the amazing feedback on my video channel, I just love hearing from you! And a big thank you to Seth Apter for his generosity and his inspiration! You can find Seth's amazing art at The Altered Page.

So I finally got the snow I've been crying for and wouldn't you know it, I'm stuck inside all week!! Grrrr. The best I could do was a few early morning shots from the window. It sure looks pretty outside, I can't wait to beat this flu so I can get out there...before it melts away!
Remember I told you I built a little waterproof squirrel house on my balcony...well I finally got a resident. She's been there about a week now. She comes out a couple times a day to grab some food then back in she goes. It's hard to tell in these pictures, but she is super tiny and super cutsie!!
She is obviously smarter than most, since she know how to get free room and board with three squares a day, so I have named her after my Mom - Dianna (the smartest lady I know)!
This next shot was a hard one to get...standing on my tippy toes, holding the camera over my head and taking a guess about the aim and focus! If you look really closely though, you can see Dianna poking her head out from the front door of her brand-spanking new, fully-furnished, mortgage-free home!!
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I will be around to visit everyone soon as I can catch my breathe.
Hehe your Dianna is the star of this post....sending hugs from across the oceans to your little friend!!
ReplyDeleteAn amazing journal page Pamellia. I love your upside down city idea and the background is brilliant. Fabulous video as always and I hope you feel better soon. Sally.x.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you feel better soon- and the snow stays around for a while! Great shots of Dianna and the trees from your window! Now Pamellia, I just love your journal page and for once I am on the computer instead of my phone, so I have seen the video at the first visit! I loVe your page and it's great to see how you got that texture!
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs, Chrisx

Awesome techniques, Pamellia! Glad you finally got some snow and also a new furry friend!
ReplyDeleteOw, this is a bit different. I LOVE the comb effect both the way you ran the ink through it and the effect when you stamped on it. Turning your city upside down was a great idea - I am afraid I did not see what it was until you told me!
ReplyDeleteLittle Itsy Bitsy Dianna squirrel is so cute and a smart one to boot.
Keep in the warm until you are better my friend.

Love the artsy look of your journal page and in some great colors! Cities should be upside down to shake all the dirt and grime out of them! Have to come back to see the video when I have peace and quiet.
ReplyDeleteDianna is such a cutie pie, and smart to use her shelter. Brrr...it looks cold and oh, so beautiful out there! Sunshine and 60's here and that spring like smell to the air! Unfortunately I'm stuck inside all day at work.
I do hope you are feeling better soon--sending healing hugs, my friend!
Brilliant Pamellia, love it. Looks cold where you are but Dianna looks cosy in her new home xXx
ReplyDeleteAmazing journal page Pamelia and I loved watching you create it! The background is fabulous and fancy using a hair comb to create the ribbed look .. brilliant! A beautiful work of art. Your little house guest is adorable .. and your snowy pics .. fantastic!! xx

Wow - what an awesome abstract journal page Pamellia! love the layers of 'buildings' and the great black lines - I'm at work and can't view your video to see how you did it - so I'll check back later - love the colors - and how sweet is your new boarder! hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Gorgeous journal page!! I totally love it!! Your layers are amazing as is your design! xo

ReplyDeleteDianna looks quite cosy in her beautiful new abode! Hugs, Anne xx
Beautiful pages Pamellia! Love all the layers! Cute photos :)
ReplyDeleteLove your snowy pictures . Your journal page and video is fantastic. Love those torn pieces and the drips of ink and using a comb in the background is a fabulous idea. Love it Pamellia and thanks for the video . Tracy x
ReplyDeleteAnother SUPER DUPER journal page. I LOVE the upside down city scape. What a GREAT idea of design. Super colours too.
ReplyDeleteLove the new Dianna squirrel, what a cutsie, we haven't had snow, but it is COLD!.
SUPER FINE video tutorial and your art journal creation is just so neat - definitely has that architectural flare. And hey - all one has to do it hang upside down by one of dozens of methods to see a topsy turvy city so it's totally realistic too!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking with the blue colors, the city scape and the textures - Seth will be in love with your creation!!
ReplyDeleteAnd Dianna is just darling. Love the picture of her IN her house. Is her fur whiter than the fur on your others? Maybe she is OLD - turned white headed!!!! Or maybe since she is so tiny - she is baby waiting on her thick black hair to come in!!! You like in such a world full of mysteries Pamellia. GET WELL soon so you can find out what's at the top of cemetery hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!! j.
haha, thanks so much Joi!! I am thinking Dianna is brand new to the world. Her colours are quite pale in comparison to the others and she is just so shy and sweet. If you get in real close, I think there are still some baby hairs sticking out here and there. She's a sweetheart for sure. hugs :)
DeleteThis is fabulous Pamellia, very different for you but you have still included lots of super layers.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are soon well enough to go outside and enjoy the snow.

ReplyDeleteOh Pamellia, firstly I am sending tons of healing hugs your way! I'm so sorry you've been sickly and pray you are growing stronger and healthier every day. I bet Dianna and your sweet furry friends are helping you feel better, too. :o) As for your journaling page... I just don't even know what to say! Your creative brilliance is something to behold and quite honestly leaves me speechless. You use products even more astoundingly than even the product designers must have ever envisioned. :o) This upside down city is spectacular and I am in love with the background! The sentiment is amazing. I can't wait to watch the video tonight. Thank you for always inspiring, my dear friend. Have a beautiful night. :o)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Karen
I so love your videos ... Wonderful Journal page Pamellia! Very inspiring! Love your photos too!
ReplyDeleteIs there nothing that you cannot do?! Abstract journal pages with Seth Apter's industrial inspired grungy stamps, you are the wow-man! Off to watch your video and hope this finds you feeling much better and able to get outside and enjoy the snow. Hope it's warmed up a bit for you, it was darn cold back East! So glad that you have a resident in your squirrel condo, Dianna is a cutie! Deb xo
ReplyDeleteLove it! Left a comment over on your YouTube xo
ReplyDeleteHi Pamellia
ReplyDeleteHad to look at the title twice as I thought it was an homage to my favourite TV show lol!
Will have to catch video later but it looks very intriguing and your usual texture fest. Love the blue hues.
I'm afraid you will have to give Dianna notice. As you've mentioned mortgage free and 3 squares thrown in, I'm packing as we speak lol!
Have a great weekend.

Well it looks like the glitch is gone from the matrix today because everything worked like it should. Hmmm, weird! Now this design is so fun and Seth would be speechless! Wonderful textures and the use of the comb! Just the other day I was using a comb on a patient (louse problems on a Husky) and thinking what great texture it could bring to texture paste and lo and behold you already did it (I must have been channeling you Bubbles! Lol) You genius and mad scientist you! Amazeballs! Love the use of the pippetts as well. Can I borrow that idea? Fantabulous details and the upside down and turned around city scape is out of this world. I am amazed every time I see your creations. Hugz to you muffin! ~Niki
ReplyDeleteBeautiful page. Such cool stamps and layering!
