Spring certainly is arriving early this year. This week I've seen a few trees and bushes with blossoms on them already, something I didn't see until well into May last year. Fine by me, I'll take every beautiful day I can get!! My landscape shot today is the first blossoming bush of the year!

Spring brings with it some familiar faces, like this beautiful female Red Winged Blackbird.

Is it just me, or are Blue Jays beautiful in every season?

"Listen to me! I have something to say dammit!"

"Omg, it's just sitting there! Is it for me? Maybe I should take it! Do you think it's a trap? What should I do? Ok, I'm going for it!"

"I'm a tree, I'm a tree, I'm a tree, I'm a tree. Be the tree!"

"Oh human, you think you can buy my love with your tasty pecans? WELL YOU WOULD BE RIGHT!"
~Crazy Karen~

"Oh my gawd! Gigantic peanut, enormous tree, teeny tiny me... I did not think this through!
~Ginger~

My first skunk ever! How exciting to just lay on the ground and watch him go about his morning breakfast chores! An incredible animal that I sure hope to see again sometime!

"Ummmmm ok human, you do realize that I'm a skunk, right? Because you're getting kind of close here!"...

For my macro today, a zoom of one of the flowers on the yellow bush. I love the textures!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.

  12. A few weeks ago I awakened with an idea to create a card that had a "lace up" feature, and could not determine how to make it. Fortunately, I saw something SOMEWHERE that showed the eyelets, so I wanted to do the same. Now I see your card with a similar theme - I simply MUST make my card soon, or it will pass away in my mind's gallery, without trying something new. Thanks for showing all the photos so I could see the layers and "how to" elements. Beautifully done and such fantastic textures in your layers, Pamellia.

Your recent excursions produced some marvelous photos, Pamellia! Loving each one of the critters - and how you add their conversation so the rest of us know what they were thinking. I do the same thing for my husband - have entire discourses on behalf of the dog and cat for him - and of course, it makes him laugh. How can we NOT have the element of laughter and conversation with the beautiful creatures with whom we share this world? The yellow bush is MAGNIFICENT! So then, there really are flowering bushes like that? I've seen silk stems like that in the big-box stores, but did not know they were imitating the real thing. The macro of the blossom is amazing!

We had about 1/2 inch of rain yesterday - most welcome since everything is brown and tinder dry - and so many wild fires. Like your area, we have have "blossomed" early this year by a good 6 weeks, and sometimes even more! Wishing you a great day, and many more delightful excursions, my sweet friend!

Your nature photos are gorgeous, but oh my gosh...the duck one is incredible!! You need to enter that in a contest somewhere!! You are braver that I getting that close to Pepe Le Pew!! I had one in my yard last night and I was very careful to make no sudden movements!! The smell lingers forever!! I hope you are doing well, my dear friend. Thinking of you and sending lots of hugs :)

Stunning card. The aqua hues are lovely and the corset like lace up is fab.
We have a Forsythia (yellow shrub) but it flowered about a month ago so yours is a little behind. Ours is about 10 ft tall so more like a tree lol!
Hope all is well with you and don't get too close to the skunk lol!
    Best wishes.

  25. Pamellia, what a beautiful nautical birthday card--masculine enough for a guy, yet with those feminine touches that say 'Pamellia made this'! I love the strip of burlap in the back and the recurrence of the same texture in the flowers. Of course the lace up feature is just pure creative genius and so well done! The special details like the compass charm that echoes the printed (gorgeous) paper, the pearls, the twine (tied into a little seafarer's knot I presume) and the flags all just make this a wonderful (as always) design! Oh, how I have missed your crafty posts! I really appreciate the time you are taking to make these and posting them for us here. I know you are very busy!

And, for Pete's sake...the photos! I just love your photos made even more special with the captions! That Canadian goose sure does look like she's giving someone a tongue lashing! Ginger is the sweetest, and you are NUTS to get that close to a skunk! Do you know you can't get that smell out of stuff? When I was little I got close to a porcupine and it was not pleasant! All of your photos are just amazing and I appreciate you sharing them with us. The other day, I was looking up American Red Squirrel for my Mom, as her friend thought she saw one in Florida. I couldn't help but notice the photos, and thought of you. I think you can submit your photos and get credits for them on Wikipedia. You many want to check this out further. Your photos far exceed those I saw on there. Pamellia, you have made my day! Sending big hugs, my friend!

  26. Oh my goodness, I want those papers - correction, I NEED those papers, they are gorgeous and you have shown them off so beautifully, I love how you did the 'corset' piece, it is absolutely stunning!!

I totally agree with Sara, are you nuts for getting so close to the skunk - yikes - clearly animals must KNOW you are not a threat to them - it is a great shot! I do agree about the Blue Jays - they are just gorgeous. Forsythia is usually the first to blossom over here too, it generally follows the daffodils - I love Spring for all the yellow! As always, your animal pictures and comments are perfection! Hugs, Anne xx

  34. Fabulous card, these new papers are gorgeous and I adore the way you have laced the papers, what a great idea and it looks fabulous with the eyelets. I can see that you are going to be busy with these papers making many more amazing masculine cards with them.

Ow a skunk, how exciting is that? I bet you lay there holding your breath so you did not frighten him off. The blue jays always look so pretty and I always adore all of the squirrels, they are too cute and look at Karen's amazing eyes, you just want to keep her and her friends safe.

    Have a great week.
