Eight Tiny Reindeer

Hello Everyone!

I think I am becoming addicted to the ornament shaped Christmas cards! They are a little more difficult to put together, but it's just such a festive shape, it's worth it! I can't help myself! This one was made with papers from My Mind's Eye and Recollections. I just love these reindeer images!

The sentiment banner is from Canvas Corp, the poinsettia die is from Sizzix and I used Pion Design Palette paper White I, the leaves are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The little styrofoam balls are actually from one of the dogs toys that busted open! Gotta recycle!

The frame is made from hot glue and a Martha Stewart mold, the doily layers are Cheery Lynn, Prima, and Spellbinders, the 3D pine branches are made using a fringe die from Cheery Lynn, the wee reindeer is actually a button from DeSerres and everything else is from my stash.

As I was skimming through Instagram yesterday morning, I saw so many people posting photographs of the snow they got this weekend. OK, I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I live in Canada and there is no snow here! Don't get me wrong, I love autumn, it's so pretty! But let's face it people, I'm a snow addict so I say bring it on already! lol

This photo was taken early in the morning before the sun came up, on the edge of the lake.

Enjoy the sun little one - soon the cold will have begun.
(or perhaps that's just wishful thinking on my part)
Sweet sweet Sparrow.

~Elvis Presley and Mr Cardinal~

Flashback to when Taylor was just a baby.
She's almost fully grown now, but I haven't been able to get any good shots of her.

So remember the landscapers and their habit of scooping up leaves faster than they fall? Well I figured if I want some autumn squirrel pics that I better do it myself, so I walked out to woods, filled up a bag with leaves, then walked back to the park and dumped them on the grass! HELLLOOO!

"So what if I'm a squirrel, who says I have to stand while I eat!"
~a trail friend~

"Oh Hello. My name is Tingle. I'm a very curious little squirrel. I love to watch the human and make her giggle by popping up from behind the tree! Hope to see you again!"

"OK, that crap in the food bowl tastes like feet! Now stop joking around and gimme a cookie!"
~Crazy Karen~
(Karen's response to fresh pumpkin. Lol)

UPDATE: Karen has been doing much better the last week or so. She still limps a bit and is still a bit wobbly, but she's keeping very busy foraging for winter and putting on her winter weight.

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.

Lavender Blessings

Hello Everyone!

I don't get the opportunity to work with purples very often, so this was a lovely change for me today. A feminine card that could be used for almost any occasion using papers from Graphic 45, Prima and Forever in Time.

The doily is Prima, the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, the wood embellishments are from Scrapiniec, the frame was made using hot glue and a custom silicone mold, the pearl strips are from The Ducks Doodahs and everything else is from my stash.

The world is finally starting to display the beautiful hues of autumn. I can't wait to get out into the woods and see what colourful things I can photograph! Until then, I'll share some more summer shots. The nights are getting cooler and the flowers are getting leggy, almost time to put the Christmas tree on the patio! HA!

For my birds today, this sweet little Nuthatch...

a female Sparrow (still young)...

  the ever-elusive female Cardinal!!

"Let's see now, which way is the wind blowing? Whaaaaaat?! I don't have a finger!"
~Mr Weatherman Cottontail~

This photo of Big Kate was taken with my 50mm lens. What that means is that the camera was only about a foot away from her face! It's a pretty amazing feeling to have a wild animal trust you that much!

"Cookie? What's a cookie? Never mind, I'll take three!"
~a trail friend~

"What do you mean I'm supposed to share! No way, this is mine and I'm taking it!"
~Porter~

It is so amazing to see my sweet Crazy Karen sitting up to eat. It's been weeks since she's been able to do that!! Now it's time to fatten up for the winter my wee friend!

"Is this pregnancy just making me crazy, or do I see a human hiding in the weeds over there!"
~One Eyed Willamina~

The world is finally starting to look more like autumn up here in Canada, and the temperatures are also finally starting to feel more like autumn too. I don't have much in the way of new photos to share, so I thought I would share some from last year that I never had a chance to show you.

Juvenile Sparrow

Male Cardinal

Red Breasted Nuthatch

Some of my friends from The Shire.

October was a difficult month, as I spent much time remembering some special animal friends that I lost last year in October.

My sweet, handsome little MR SCRUFF. One of the few pure black morph squirrels that I've had the pleasure of meeting. He always put on a show with his hilarious antics, funny faces and odd personality. He was my patio buddy and visited me several times a day to gather treats and say hello. Oh how I miss this little dude.

The most unique wild rabbit I have ever seen. HENRY was a domestic rabbit that was dumped in the woods as a baby, and against all odds, he thrived for years in the wild. He was such a beautiful bunny and always smiled for the camera. I  miss our wonderful encounters!

I think we all remember my amazing little friend BON JOVI. She was the first wild animal that I fell in love with and she was the reason I decided to pick up a proper camera. I so looked forward to my visits to The Shire to see her gorgeous face every day. She was so unique, and had a gentle soul. She was super friendly, and always came running as soon as she saw me. I will never forget her and I will never stop missing her.

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.
