Try it on Tuesday - Winter Whites

Hello Everyone!

It's time for the last challenge of the year over at Try it on Tuesday. Don't worry, we will be back with a ton of more fun in the New Year. For our farewell to 2014 challenge we are doing WINTER WHITES. I love white on white cards and I can't wait to see what gorgeous creations you come up with!

I apologize for the semi-dark photos, my lighting equipment and I had quite the tango trying to adjust for such a stark white card. With no contrast or shadows to speak of, it was quite a task to get these shots!

See that amazing lumpy layer that looks like a snow bank? Well I actually got the idea for this from my super talented bloggy friend Ingrid. She did a tutorial a while back on using Tyvek paper to make jewelry, and I thought to myself, I wonder if it might work as a blanket of snow? So I melted myself a sheet with some iridescent glitter on it, and presto, a glittery bank of snow!

Thank you Ingrid for inspiring me with your amazing creativity! You can find her tutorial HERE.

The holly die cut panel is from Taylored Expressions. I edged it with Stardust Stickles and then layered a couple of Spellbinders circles on top. One I covered with Twinklets Diamond Dust and the other I used a Prima Stencil and home made texture paste to add a whispy flourish pattern.

The sentiment is from Penny Black and was stamped with VersaFine Onyx ink onto a Fishtail banner cut out from My Favourite Things. The snowflake die was cut from the Penny Black Snowflake Trio set.

The poinsettia was cut from Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia and I covered it with Stardust Stickles from Ranger. A few additional bits of snow and glitter here and there along with some dew drops.

I am entering my white as snow Christmas card into the following wonderful challenges:

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  2. WOW! This is absolutely amazing! I keep going back and looking at the work of art trying to see where to begin my praise! I LOVE that lumpy snow layer, the poinsettia is to die for (as usual) that diecut panel is absolutely gorgeous detail to complete the composition and that white stenciled circle is my favorite! What are those 3 dots that look like dew?? I have been trying to figure that out since this summer when you used them on one of your cards. Well, thank you my friend for making my day with this stunning creation! Till your next masterpiece, big hugs from Vegas :)

Wow, what a glitter fest! I think I saw on the news that there are 2 things that can now be seen from space. The Great Wall of China and the sparkle on this divine white on white card!
I'm not mad for glitter but the twinkle of this has seduced me.
Love your snowdrift effect (never heard of that paper before). Top tip. Never eat yellow snow!
    Have a great evening.

  39. I can't believe you have used Tyveck paper for some of this! We have just renewed our roof with Tyveck as a waterproof layer under the tiles. OK maybe not the same stuff, however!!!!!!!!!

  47. Pamellia, So sorry I'm late to the party. Foremost I want to thank you for all your sweet, inspiring comments you have left on my blog, and for your thoughts for my friend! Secondly, I want to tell you that this card is breathtaking! It is one of those I would love to touch. So much texture in one card! I've heard of using Tyvek for jewelry making--I think in Stampington, but have never tried it myself. Scary to think of it melting, since it is a building supply! With our hot summers here, I would be afraid to come home to a puddle! Awesome card, my friend! Hugs!:):)
