Missing You - Faux Wood Background video

Hello Everyone!

Today I am here with a card I put together that was inspired by the challenge over at Creative Carte Blanche. Their theme this month is "Wood...A Word....Something Wild". With such a talented design team and stiff competition, I wanted to do something a little different, so I decided to make my own wood!! And at popular demand, I finally video'd it!! (is that a word?) Hope you enjoy.

Just in case they weren't thrilled with my fake wood, I added this sweet little wooden bird...and it doubles as my WILD portion as well. Also for WILD, I tried to go for a wild nature type of feeling for this one with dark tones and wild floral patterns. I also added some lace, but that was really just for me! lol

Dies used are Spellbinders Lattice, Sizzix Tabs and Tags, Cheery Lynn Leaf Flourish, Cuttlebug Kindness. Papers are from Maja Design, flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and everything else is from my stash.

UPDATE:
My card won awards in the following wonderful challenges:

***
Thanks so much to all the ladies who helped me identify the Star Magnolia tree, it's nice to be able to put a name with the wonderful plants and trees! Can you do it again ladies?? I have a few mystery trees and plants today. This first group of trees is right outside my front door, little white flowers, so pretty!!

OK, so this is just an artsy-fartsy shot of my white trees at night under the lamp, as seen from my balcony, but still pretty right! I mean look at those super creepy shadows!

life is getting green...

I SAW A LADYBUG!!!! AHHHHH! FUN!

This tree is out back, it's much taller than the ones outside the front door, and the flowers are bigger too. I tried to Google it, but there are so many that look the same...I'm completely lost!

And how about this one ladies?? It looks a bit like a dandelion, only it's about 4 feet tall, yikes!

Beautiful day at the lake today. Lots of baby ducks! How freaking cute are they!

I wasn't the only one enjoying the lake - this is a young House Sparrow enjoying the view.

**special photograph**

CALL ME CRAZY, BUT IS THAT A BUDGIE UP THERE MAKING FRIENDS WITH A GRACKLE!!! WHAT THE...!!

coffee shot...

Lots of babies on my walk today. This little gal was so tiny, she hasn't even grown in her fur yet!

This gal was a bit bigger, but look at that face. Don't you just adore these creatures!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.

  21. What a beautiful card, Pamellia! I am always in awe at how well you layer everything. I love the faux wood and the video showing how it was done. Such a treat for you to have such wonderful wildlife to view each day. Funny story--I just planted a large container by my front door with some flowering plants. The next day, they were all uprooted by one of my squirrels! Not to worry. I re-planted everything, put a ceramic frog in the container and a metal fairy butterfly. Seems to have done the trick. No one has dug up anything! lol

I appreciate the little added bird (because I LUV birds), but you'll find a lot of grace in this place for your own artistic interpretation. SO happy you're joining us for Creative Carte Blanche!

  42. I wanted to save the video so I could watch it in the morning and it is brilliant. I think I am going to be putting faux wood on everything now! Your card is stunning and how clever are you to create your own wood for CCB - seriously, it is amazing!!! Your card, of course, is stunning too! You are such an inspiration!

Your animal (and bird) photos are always a delight to see, I just love the baby squirrel and the gorgeous little ducklings. The budgie is so funny - a few years back a couple got loose in the south of England and now there is a whole colony of them - the human residents are none too pleased though....

Hmmm, I am completely stumped on the first tree (it is really beautiful !) but the second one looks like a Cherry Blossom to me, and the 4ft tall one looks a bit like an Allium, they do grow very tall (the flowers are usually purple or white) and they leave a beautiful skeleton behind. The tufty grass looks like Pampas Grass but I don't think I have ever seen them growing so near water...

Thank you for a wonderful post Pamellia, I really enjoyed it today! Hugs, Anne xx

  44. Your card is absolutely GORGEOUS, I do so love your work.

Love the photos, the tree is an amelanchier canadensis, I'm sure. The other tree with the bigger flower could be a fruit tree, maybe apple? Sorry don't know the others.

Your photos are just a joy and the birds - well, you have a great selection of them. Love the budgie and the crow?

    1. Thanks so much Faith! It's a budgie and a Grackle. Grackles look very similar to crows when they're in the shade. They have the same body type, but the Grackle is quite a bit smaller and when the sun hits it, you can see the blue head. hugs :)

And of course, I adore all your photos. So unique and so well done. My favorite is the lady bug - what a spectacular shot. And the budgie - dear me - I wouldn't have believed it!!! And that night shot of the white tree - splendid. And, of course, it wouldn't be right without your squirrel babies. I sooo love reading your posts! XXj.
