It's time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. Suzz is our hostess this time around and she has chosen the theme "All in the Family". Whether it is your ancestors, a favourite family memory or family outings, create a vintage or shabby chic project reflecting your family. One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!
When I think of family, I think about Christmas. It's the only day of the year when we are all together in the same room, and some of my favourite family memories are of the holidays.

I would like to send out a special thank you to Faith of Daffodil Cards for identifying that white mystery flower from last week. It is some type of Ninebark shrub (Physocarpus). There are a lot of types, and I can't figure out which it is, but I happy to have a name for it. Thanks Faith, you rock!!
So I decided to take a new path a couple of weeks ago and explore a new area. There was a hill to climb, which I love...I always want to know what's on the other side! At the top of the hill was a bridge, and some lovely park areas just beyond.
I ran across this tree which must have been scared by something in the sky, because it seems to have abruptly turned and headed back towards the ground! lol.
And back on the home front, it's been hotter than heck, so I decided to do some evening photography and take some artsy pictures of the lake and some moonlit flowers.
Some evening shots of a Swamp Rose and a Water Iris.
I had lots of questions about by new bird feeding system, so I thought I would share the advice I received from Lisa and Valerie. I was using dry birdseed before, but they recommended lard based products like SUET blocks. So far, the mixed nuts for woodpeckers seems to draw the best variety of birds, but all of them work better than the loose seeds ever did.
Here is a juvenile female Starling enjoying my new feeder, and a baby on the branch watching with great anticipation!
I've decided that JUNIOR must be a natural born trend setter. As per usual, here you can see him taking a rest on the patio railing...
But guess what? His lazy habits are starting to catch on. Here is STEVIE...
and MR SCRUFF...
...and even CRAZY KAREN has decided to give it a go. Although in true Karen style, she had to do it in her own way! How hilarious!
My token morning coffee shot gave me some hope of rain. There was even some super strong winds and one clap of thunder, but alas, Mother Nature's bark is apparently worse than her bite because not a drop of rain fell!
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.
You've done it again, Pamellia! Your card is AMAZING! The detail you put in to it really makes it shine. The embossing and all of those shabby layers!! Wow! I love that you chose Christmas as your family theme. I can almost hear the carols and feel the chill in the air!

Your beautiful card is such a contrast to some of the garish Christmas images and decorations we see. It is elegant and homey at the same time.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous layers on your vintage family card. The picture looks right at home with all the delightful embellies tucked around, and love that rich bow trailing down the side. Just amazingly beautiful card. Always enjoy your nature pictures, and we have some trees that look the same with the shapes growing in odd ways. The bridge looks like an inviting adventure, and you certainly had some fantastic shots. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeletePamellia, your family-inspired card is nothing short of Christmas perfection. What a treat to see a festive delight from you. Your layers are gorgeous! The banners are so pretty, the image is beautiful, and I am completely smitten with the doily-trims-image-flowers focal point. It's spectacular! The snowy bits throughout are always one of my favorite aspects of your wintry creations. The sentiment is lovely and I just adore every inch of this. Stunning work, my dear friend. You are forever inspiring!
ReplyDeleteWe are badly in need of rain, too... the lawns are brown and feel like hay. :( There is still none forecasted but I pray some comes soon. Oooh, what a beautiful area you discovered! I'm grateful you are able to embrace and grow in every creative outlet your heart desires. You have too many gifts to mention. :o) Have a beautiful day, my lovely friend!

ReplyDeleteAnother truly stunningly gorgeous card Pamellia. I love the colours, the stencilling, the layering - well everything really. This is one of those projects I would love to reach out and touch, it is just so beautiful....
ReplyDeleteThe new path looks so interesting, I am sure you have got lots more visits planned. Crazy Karen really did make me laugh, I really love that she has her own unique personal style!
Hugs, Anne xx
Gorgeous card Pamellia, lovely Christmas colours and the photograph brings back memories of being a child, when it seemed to always snow in winter and the summers were hot and sunny - not at all like this year when the winter was very mild and this summer has been so very wet - so to rub it in!
ReplyDeleteAs always, lots of lovely layers and I really love the pennant shapes.
I love how the paths for your walks are structured, here they tend to be well worn dirt tracks through the shrubbery, that get very muddy when it rains, and eventually expose the tree roots for you to trip on. Your laid out paths look so much neater and protect the surrounding areas.
Lovely photos of the squirrels, the poor things look so hot and tired and clearly find your balcony a haven to retreat to.
Have a lovely weekend.
Dionne xx

If you could send some of the heat over here, that would be great and I'll send you some rain lol!
