Well, it's time for another challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and More! This time around our lovely hostess Lin has chosen the theme SHAPED CARDS. Plain squares or rectangles DO NOT COUNT, but any other shape is fine.
I'm not much on shaped cards...not because I don't like the way they look, I actually think they are beautiful. Mostly it's because for one thing, I don't have the patience to work with the detailed die cuts and secondly, I can't distress the heck out of the edges. Shabby cards need shabby edges...so I decided to go in a completely different direction and do something off the rails! This card was for my Mom and she was over the moon when she opened it. It's actually an easel card, but I forgot to take pics before I added my sentiment so I couldn't show you the pretty inside.
Disclaimer: NO INKS, STAINS, SPRAYS, PAINTS, PASTES OR MEDIUMS WERE HARMED DURING THE PRODUCTION OF THIS CARD...seriously, I swear!

You can see the amazing shimmery background in this next shot. Unfortunately, I can't take credit for it, it's actually a piece of wall paper...although it did spark several ideas regarding some texture paste and perhaps some Perfect Pearls! Stay tuned for that one! ha!
The dies layered here are Cheery Lynn Oval Stackers, Spellbinders Oval Grand and Spellbinders Opulent Ovals. Boy my New Years Resolution to use some of my unused dies has just come flying back out of the closet!!
I took some tiny ribbon and 'weaved'...'wove'??? Whatever the correct word is, that's what I did with the ribbon, all the way around the Cheery Lynn ovals, outside and inside...zzzzzzzzz!
Since I decided to go all non mixed media, I pulled out some flowers from my stash. The only one that is handmade is the dusty rose flower that I made from organza fabric flowers that I ripped apart for pieces a while back.
The little flourish dies are from Joy Crafts, they came in a set with a frame, but I can't remember the name of the set, sorry. The sentiment was left over from a sheet of sentiments I had printed off years ago. It's not really an exact match to anything, but my Mom didn't seem to notice.
Don't take this the wrong way because I love how this card turned out, BUT now I'm heading off to my craft room to dive into my paint stash head first and I'm not gonna stop still the dogs are green and pink!!! Ahhhh, sigh of relief! tee hee
My Mother's Day card was the winner of the following wonderful challenge:

Were you shaking? In withdrawal? :-)) This card is beautiful! Without any of your usual products! I am most impressed with the ribbon weaving. How you kept the paper from getting all rumpled while you were weaving, I don't know. Impressive!

ReplyDeleteTruly a labor of great love Pamellia. I didn't read the comments above (like I usually do) but I bet that has been said several times already! This card is just beautiful in every way. My Mama loved white and lace and frilly - I can definitely image how she would have reacted to have received a card this incredibly lovely. As for me... I just got my Vagabond (eheheheh) and have yet to cut my first die so.... this card is pretty much greek to me!!! Someday I would love to be able to make something this fabulous! YOU can do anything and it's always just so inspiring and totally amazing creations. Thanks bunches Pamellia for pushing thru and making this amazing card. j.

ReplyDeletePamellia,
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed reading your post! Almost as much as I adored viewing this beautiful stacked card! I bet your Mom LOVED it! You may not have added any pastes, inks, or paints (which I find incredibly amazing!), but you have still made art here, by choosing different shades of white, a variety of textures, and of course, those Pamellia techniques! (ribbon weaving and organza flower shredding--who'da thunk!). YOU NEVER cease to AMAZE me!!!! Now, get in and get dirty! I've got some blog reading to catch up on! Please know I am checking out each and everyone of your blog posts I've missed. It's just taking me a tremendous amount of time to comment! Eyes and hands are not coordinating at the same amazing speed they used to. Big hugs, my diversely talented friend!
OMG Pamellia, my chin has just dropped to my chest, this is so totally fabulous! The detail is stunning and so pretty .... but so very different - is there nothing you can't do? I always want to pick up your work so I can get a better look at how you have made it but none more than this one. This is adorable.
ReplyDeleteMore please.
