Scrapping4fun Guest Designer - Techniques

Hello Everyone!

I'm very excited to be here today as the Guest Designer for Scrapping4fun Challenges! I was thrilled when Rachelle asked be to join in for this challenge and even more excited when she told me the theme is TECHNIQUES! I knew immediately it was time to try something new, just what the doctor ordered!!

I have been admiring this whole Finnabair phenomenon for some time now, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try my hand at it. Mind you, I didn't have any of the proper products I have seen them use and I wanted to do something a little more bright and shabby...so I pulled out my DecoArt paints.

I took three colours of paint and watered down in little shot glasses, then I starting dripping, dropping, splashing and colouring. I used Americana Citron Green and Crafter's Acrylics Lavender and African Violet.

The frame is made from crafter's clay and a Martha Stewart silicon mold. The button is from my stash. I added some DecoArt Crackle Paint here and there for a little extra texture.

Down the edges of the banners, I added some texture with rows of Liquid Pearl drops. I just cut the fishtail banners out by hand. I splashed everything with a bit of black paint for some messy finishing touches.

On the back layer, I added some honeycomb die cuts from Crafty Ann and the black lattice stamping is done with a Kaisercraft texture stamp. The tag is Sizzix/Tim Holtz and the little rose is from my stash.

The butterfly is from the Sizzix/Tim Holtz Butterfly Duo set. I added a little extra DecoArt Ebony Black paint on the wings so it would stand out a little bit more. I painted a miniature clothes pin white to use for the body.

UPDATE:
My mixed media card won awards in the following wonderful challenges:

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.
