Summer, Summer, Summertime!

Hello Everyone!

Do you ever find that your inspiration has come from the strangest thing? Well I just picked up a jar of peach coloured seed beads from Michaels, and I was itching to use some, so my whole card design started from one little container of beads! FUN!

Lots of layers of pretty papers and lots of lace, yummy! The stickpins are handmade, the leaf flourish is Cheery Lynn, the doily is Whimsy Circle from Memory Box. I used some Hero Arts ink to colour the seam binding, and I used Shabby Shutters ink spray to colour the leaves. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, everything else is from my stash.

It's hard to tell because I got carried away with the flowers, but the image is a bicycle with a basket full of peach roses. So pretty.

SEED BEADS EVERYWHERE!! LOVE IT!!

UPDATE:
My card won an award in the following wonderful challenge:

***
A special thank you to Kathy Gnj for identifying my Pterodactyl-Darth Vader-alien bird as a Northern Ground Hornbill. Not sure where you pulled that from Kathy, but we all thank you!! lol

Sticking with the summer theme, I thought I would share some of my flower photography. These are my favourite kind of shots. If I could just photograph flowers and animals all day long, I would be a happy camper!

These first 3 images are all varying types of Crabapple Trees as far as I can figure.

Tulips

Flowering Plum Tree

White Lilac Bush

The Columbine Flower

Did I finally find a Flowering Cherry Tree??

The next 3 images are also of what I figure must be Crabapple Trees.

Yellow Water Iris

Horse Chestnut Tree

At first I thought this was a Hawthorn, but nope...it's a Bridal Wreath Spirea Shrub

Lilac Bush

Snow in Summer Plant

I gave up trying to find a match for these next two! - ??????????

??????????
Update: Thank you to CdeBaca Crafts Gallery for identifying this flower as a Virginia Waterleaf!

Black Locust tree

Pine Tree Flowers (baby pine cones) - possibly an Eastern White Pine

Thought I would share a sunset shot over the lake today instead of a coffee shot. I shall call this my after dinner shot.

Guess who has made it to the balcony and figured out how to get to the food bowl! JUNIOR!!! And it seems a little rain won't stop him from his newest adventure! Don't ya just want to hug him!!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.

  2. Lovely card! Amazing colors and embellishments. For the plant underneath the Snow in Summerplant, I have no clue what it is! But, for the one underneath that, they are called Waterleafs. There are different lineages to this flower which is similar to the Borage flower, and location usually plays a role in which type of flower it is specifically. Nice photos!

  3. Oh another stunner Pamellia! And I adore the seed beads. I used to make bead flowers and things when I was younger, and still have a huge fondness for them now. So great for adding a bit of texture. x

  19. Simply gorgeous!!! I love this one! I wish you would do a video on how you did it. I so enjoy your photos, the flowers are beautiful. Most of what you showed today are done and gone awhile ago here in the Midwest. We had such an early, warm Spring. Thank you for trying to put names with everything, too. Poor little squirrel.

  21. Oh my, so many luscious layers of loveliness on this pretty card! All that lace is just yummy - put me in mind of a little girl with a frilly dress off to a summer party. Those layers are fabulous, and love the bike basket filled with these flowers. You layer so many splendid items and it all works beautifully. Also enjoyed these magnificent photos...what marvelous screen savers each one would make. I'm so impressed that you know the names of all these plants. Cute little wet guy at the end too. That must have been a hard photo to capture with him scampering along the rail. TFS & for a fun, lovely post.

  33. Oh, MY, Pamellia! What a treat to visit your blog this evening! So many things to smile about, starting with that amazing card that caused me to squeal when I first opened your blog! Could you hear it? Speechless, but let's just say, I love, love, LOVE the colors and those seed beads--oh, I can tell why you were inspired! And boy! Were you ever inspired! Perfect yummy color combination, and so much fluff and lace, I just want to shrink down to 3 inches and fall into it! Lovely--I'd like to put my order in for a birthday card just like this! Wink, wink!

Your flower shots are equally amazing; you really should march yourself to a flower supplier and do catalog photos for them, or sign up as a photographer for a garden magazine. You take the most incredible close ups and capture the beauty of these flowers and trees so perfectly. You do have it goin' on, Pamellia!

Poor Junior, bless his heart! I don't want to hug him, but I want to fluff him up with a tiny towel and then cuddle him. So sweet! I took a video of a squirrel doing some crazy flips and rolling around on the ground right outside my window the other day. At first I thought he may be rabid, but my friend assures me this is normal squirrel behavior. She's somewhat of an expert on wildlife. Your thoughts? Have you seen this? I would love to share the video with you, but don't know how to send it except by text message. Sending hugs your way!

Inspiration truly is all around us, isn't it? The colors are so sprightly and I love how they look combined with your trademark elegance. The lacy layers are breathtakingly beautifully. I have lilac, flowering crab apple , apple tree pear and plum tree but they are not in full bloom yet --need a few days of sun rather than all the rain we are having here in the Maritimes.
