Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! I took way more time off than I originally planned for, but I enjoyed every minute of it!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! I took way more time off than I originally planned for, but I enjoyed every minute of it!!
It's time for our first challenge of 2017 over at Frilly and Funkie. Jenny is the hostess and she has chosen the theme "NEW YEAR'S INSPIRATION". She would like you to create a vintage or shabby chic project depicting what you are inspired to do/achieve in 2017. One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!
One of my crafting goals for 2017 is to use up some of the bits and bobs from my 'scrap' drawer. Ribbon bits and pieces of paper or lace that I cut and didn't use for some reason or another. A butterfly here, a leaf sprig there... Time to pull them out and put them to use!
All of the following products that I used can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

Since they built the community center right on my lake, they now plow all of the paths here. It's easier to walk, but not quite as pretty, so I decided to walk to the neighboring lake last week. It took me two hours to get there and even longer to get home, but it was worth it to see all the untouched snowy trails!
For my birds today, a Blue Jay super close up...
Feeding time for a sweet little Chickadee...
My token Male Cardinal shot (boy how they pop against the snow)!
I find capturing a bird in flight to be one of the hardest photos to do well. This is not the best, but I'm happy to have even a partial success!
That's a pretty big wave for such a little duck! You go dude!
Is it just me, or does that water look fricking cold!!
It's good to see how healthy the squirrels are out there by the lake.
I would like to introduce you to my newest friend MR CHUBB. Those of you who follow me on new Facebook page have met this darling already, but how cute is he when he's covered in snow! HA!
Out in the tree, my friend MARIA is very concerned about the winter weather. Turns out she did not have a warm place to sleep, and has now taken residence in one of the corner folds of my gazebo canopy. I have placed some soft clothes in there, in hopes she stays warm and safe this winter.
My first attempt at capturing snowflakes. This was done with my medium size macro lens, but I think I'm ready to try the large macro lens next time, so hopefully I can capture more details.
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.
Lovely new piece, and glad you enjoyed your break. Lovely photos as always. It's cold over here, too. Hugs, Valerie

Your gorgeous card speaks of a promise to come ... Beautiful! Love your photos and that macro shot is stunning! We had two baby squirrels playing outside here yesterday and the cat was watching for half an hour!
ReplyDeleteYou have done amazing things using some of your scraps! Those papers look amazing layered up and I love how you've added them to the wooden frame. As always your flower spray is GORGEOUS! So happy that you are back in your craft room and are blessing us once again with your lovely artwork!
ReplyDeleteAND your lovely photography! Those black and white rival and exceed Ansel Adams, and your wildlife shots are all amazing! The squirrels look fat and happy! Now the real ICE-ing on the cake is that snowflake close up! Fascinating! Sending you big hugs! Stay warm!
Your card is a breath of spring - just what we need with the cold and snow set to return. Love all the little elements that have two purposes - make the card super pretty and edit your craft room.
ReplyDeleteHugs!

For me, the best way to get thru a day is to "enjoy the little things" so I adore this card. Plus...my eyes are so happy to see the bright brilliant colors. I am just drinking in that luscious green and all the little things you did to make this gorgeous Pamellia. Love this.
ReplyDeleteDear me - walking two hours and longer back in such cold weather - I couldn't have done it. You are right though - the untouched snow is beyond beautiful. And your little friends are so precious. Your snowflakes are mind boggling to me - wow - what a great photo. And by the way... your bird in flight looked like sheer perfection to me!!! Xj.
Happy New Year Pamellia, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your break. Wow, that untouched snow!!! Your card is just beautiful, great stash buster. Hugs, Autumn
ReplyDeleteHello, Pamellia! Sending delightful wishes for all things good your way, and hoping that 2017 brings only harmonious beauty your way. Loving the gorgeous summer-time card with all the delicate nature elements. But I've more enjoyed your little squirrels and birds - I can't help if that one ultra-chubby squirrel by the other lake might be PG LOL. Mr. Chubs looks happy despite his snowy appearance. The contrast certainly shows up! I'm incredulous that you made the 2 hour trek to the other lake - and 2 hours back! Yikes! But grateful at the same time because of all the serenity you captured there. Maria will appreciate your warm gift in the gazebo. It always tickles me to see the birds eating from your hand - and you never cease to amaze me by capturing events one-handedly. The macro snowflakes are WOW! I can hardly wait to see the large lens! Thank you for sharing your walk, Pamellia. Sending your fond hugs, de

ReplyDeleteYour photos are AMAZING, your dedication (a 2 hour walk!!! in the snow?) shows in the quality of your photos, I love the birds, as you know I'm a bird watcher (in the garden LOL) and the snowflake photo is so VERY beautiful.
What a wonderful post full of contrasts... first your card made my heart skip as though it was already spring - so fresh and cheerful and pretty - and then the wonderful wintry photographs took me to a place of frosted beauty. Just fantastic, especially those macro snowflakes as the finale!

Happy New Year my dear friend. I am just getting around to catching up after the Christmas/New Year break.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, how excited am I by your photography today, that snowflake is awesome and your bird in flight is amazing! You really rock my friend. I get so excited looking at the fabulous squirrals and stunning birds I almost forget about your craft projects.
I am loving your left overs card, I have so many boxes and folders full of left over stuff I just cannot bring myself to part with, if I were to throw it all out I would probably half my crafting stash. Fabbulous card, I love all the spring green and orange colours as well as the lace and the pretty wooden thing - I must get myself some of those wooden things you use, they always look amazing.
Have a great weekend in the snow, I look forward to the photographs.
Dionne xx
Your card is a lovely breath of spring and definitely a worthwhile goal to use our stash. We should all embrace that one, right? But it's hard to when so many fun new products keep hitting the market! Love the floral theme and the sweet butterfly. Wishing you all the best in 2017!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Linda
This really is a breath of spring air, I love everything about it, the freshness, the stunning Monarch butterfly, the daisies - everything about it. Well done for using up some bits and bobs stash too!

Happy New Year, my dear Pamellia! I have returned from spending the holidays with my hubby... no computer time, just the sprinkles of FB love I left here and there. I am happy to be back to leave you some love. :) Your card is gorgeous! It is bubbling over with cheerfulness.. and I love how you've put some of those leftover goodies to use. Thank you for filling my heart with springtime beauty tonight.
ReplyDeleteOf course your photos leave me speechless.. you know how much I adore your work. As always these nature shots are spectacular, dearest Pamellia! The winter scenerey looks so calm and beautiful. I love winter and the piece it brings. Nature is very still and calm and waits for spring to bloom again. Don't know why this touches me but it does :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is so super beautiful. I love all the details on it. And I have drawers full of scrap pieces that I should use and I think I will finally do do this!
Sending you best wishes across the miles! Ally
Hi Pamellia and Happy New Year to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous card what wonderful colours and design, lots of beautiful embellishments too.
Wildlife photos are amazing, the colours of the Blue Jay and Cardinal are truly amazing, always a pleasure to drop by,Kate x
Sounds like a good goal to have for this new year. I bet everyone has scraps they don't use. Love the Spring feel of your lovely and gorgeous card. It makes me want Spring to come even faster. Beautiful butterflies and lace and the whole bit.
ReplyDeleteOf course your photo of birds in flight are stunning. I can totally understand why it would be hard to capture. Especially a hummingbird! Theirs little wings are super fast. Glad the furry critters are doing well. Hugz to you muffin! ~Doc
Pamellia,
ReplyDeleteYour card is gorgeous! The texture and dimension transform the paper and bring life to it. I love your beautiful 'bits and bobs'--something my mom always said that I've been using myself lately but had never heard anyone else say until now. I also look so forward to your inspiring photography. You may not believe this, but I show it to sooooooo many people. I saw something in my own yard the other day that was both horrific and at the same time part of the natural order of our world, A very large Coopers Hawk swooped down from out of nowhere to snatch one of my sweet House Finches from my bird feeder. I loved that little House Finch and feel so sad for it's mate. Nature is not always a kind thing. I've had to take down my feeders until the Coopers Hawk stops using it as a fast-food drive through. Wishing you every blessing in the New Year!
Hugs,
Nancy
