Hello Everyone!
Well I'm finally back in the world of crafting and I am happier than a pig in mud!! The move had it's obstacles and challenges, but for the most part I am settled in now and ready to get back to play time. Thank you so much to everyone for all of the wonderful comments and emails I received while I was off line, it was just amazing to hear from all of you and I am so grateful for the thoughts and wishes you sent! I have lots of stories and pictures to share, but I will throw that at you a little bit here and a little bit there.
Now on to the fun at hand. It's time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie and I'm so excited to be posting a Christmas card to get the season going. The lovely and talented Sue is our hostess and she has chosen the theme "LET THERE BE LIGHT". She would like to see your vintage or shabby chic projects that include some sort of reference to light. This could be a street lamp, rays of light or even gradients of colour that get lighter! One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!
You may notice something a little different with this card, well I have decided to expand my horizons and play with some patterned papers. Linda carries a huge collection of papers from Maja Design and I just couldn't resist some of the gorgeous patterns. The dark blue paper in the background and the gorgeous Santa image are from the Vintage Frost collection.
I used Snow Flurries On the Edge die from Sizziz to cut this border from acetate. I covered it with chunky clear glitter and dabbed on a little Picket Fence paint to look like icy snow. The ho ho ho sentiment is from the Tim Holtz Occasions chit chat sticker book. The gorgeous laces and the twine are from Linda's shop.
The lamp post is also from Linda's shop, she carries a wide variety of Kaisercraft wood embellishments. I painted it with Gathered Twigs distress paint and then used some Ranger Texture Paste as snow. I dusted the paste with Dry Rock Candy Glitter to give it a subtle sparkle. I used this same treatment on the frame in the center of the tag.
The tag is cut from the Sizzix Tag Collection. I coloured it with Gathered Twigs then used Archival ink Coffee and the Gothic Tim Holtz stencil to add a pattern. I stamped the background using Potting Soil Archival ink and the Merry Christmas stamp from the Simple Sayings stamp set.
