Another exciting day for me here in blog land. I am happy and thrilled to be one of the designers for Loll and Friends this year for her Twelve Tags of Christmas Event. Today is day 12, so time is short now, but you can still get your mixed media tag in!! A huge thank you to Loll for inviting me to be a part of this amazing event, it's a complete honour!
I decided to use a few of my DecoArt products to create this wintery wonderland tag, hope you enjoy.
For the back layer, I used some DecoArt Black Gesso and painted around the edges. The top layer was painted with Americana Acrylics Winter Blue, Baby Blue and then a touch of Slate Grey.
I applied my pattern with a stencil and some DecoArt Media - Modeling Paste. After the paste was dry, I dry brushed on a little Americana Zinc and Snow (Titanium) White paints and then I splashed on a little bit of DecoArt Media Misters - Carbon Black.
For the snow, I used my DecoArt Snow Writer and then coated everything with DecoArt Glamour Dust Sprinkle-On Glitter - Crystal. This stuff is so shimmery, it makes everything look like Christmas!
UPDATE:
My tag won an award in the following wonderful challenge:
My tag won an award in the following wonderful challenge:
It was just gorgeous here today for my walk. There were so many birds on the lake and I even discovered some mushrooms and berries that I should really learn the names of! haha!
Scully couldn't decide what she should chase first...the birds, the squirrels or the kids that were playing on the dock! I was praying she didn't decide on the birds, since they were in the water! haha!
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.
Ohhhh Scully should definitely go after the squirrels and the leaves, and the birds, and the wind, and the everything! Lol. Congrats on your spot with Loll. This is a shimmery sparkley design and so amazeballs! I bet you fart glitter sometimes after using these products Bubbles. Lol! Are the flowers Christmas picks? Gorgeous!!!! And some more gorgeous! Hugz to you muffin! ~Doc
ReplyDeleteHey Doc. The medium flowers with the gemstone centers were pulled off of an old wedding centrepiece that I picked up at a thrift shop. Gorgeous aren't they!! hugs :)
DeleteWhat a luscious tag, Pamellia! Absolutely love those wonderful blues with the white, and all the shimmer!! Thanks for all the description.....I just got a Snow Writer, and haven't quite figured out what to use it for yet - so thanks for some fabulous inspiration! xxx Lynn

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being part of the challenge team! Your tag is so beautiful! Beautiful and EXQUISITE - one of the most lovely tags I have EVER seen. Everything is just perfectly GORGEOUS. The black background is just the icing on the cake. And that picture from inside the tunnel (or whatever it's called!!) is soooooooooooooooooo neat to see. In fact all the pics were neat to see. So enjoy seeing your new environment Pamellia and your babies too. j.

Just beautiful Pamellia, so wintry and Christmassy, - love all the textures and those beautiful flowers of course! Stunning photos too!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful delicate tag, it looks like is floated down from the sky... beautiful, beautiful tints and the flower looks like its made of frost, so transparent and whisper thin. All finished off with sparkle. LOVE it Pamellia!
ReplyDeleteand thanks for visiting dear Pamellia, your generous comments always make me smile! Hugs Ruth xx
OUTSTANDING! Such a gorgeous tag Pamellia! I do love the twists of nostalgia and romance you give to your creations- so very elegant! xo
ReplyDeleteWow, Pamellia! I'm in love with this wintry tag and allthe shimmer! It's always a treat to see how these works of art come together! I love that Glamour dust, but I'm be durned if I can photograph it! Your's just twinkles! Love it! Another question...I have recently purchased some DecoArt media products, and I've yet to really give them a whirl. I did try myshimmer mister in white the other day, and it came out like Silly String in one big huge stream! Not these sweet little mists as you have with the black--which I just love, by the way. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy these little walks around the lake; I feel like I'm getting to enjoy them with you. Only one problem...the distance between here and there! My goodness, it is beautiful there! Reminds me of the paths all around Washington, DC, just not full of people like there's are. Doesn't anyone else walk these trails beside you?
Scully looks as happy as a clam! It won't be long before she has to wear a coat! Big hugs, and ENJOY YOUR DAY! (I'm so jealous!)
Hi Sara, thanks for your sweet words. I actually dipped a small brush into the bottle and splashed it on the card that way. You're right, the stream comes out very strong and wouldn't work for just a little sprinkle. hugs to you :)
DeleteThank you for your help! I think I may have a dysfunctional sprayer. Still spraying in gobs, not a mist! So disappointed! But still loving looking at this beautiful tag! Hugs!
DeleteGorgeous tag Pamellia! Love those poinsettias and textured background! Simply stunning!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness your tag is simply stunning!! Who needs a gift, this is one on it's own!! Lovely photos too!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine receiving a present with this tag on and not wanting to open the present for ages as I would be oh!ing and ah!ing over it for too long. It is truly superb.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos, the bridge one is very "arty" love all the ducks and the fauna
Watching your tag one can really feel the winter wonderland!
ReplyDeleteThanks bunches for visiting my blog and your warm, encouraging words dear Pamellia. Hugs!

A beautiful tag Pamellia, lovely soft colour, great texture and such a beautiful floral touch too. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment on my blog Pamellia, and for trying to alter your font size, but unfortunatly it's stayed the same, I don't understand it really as it only happens with your blog, I'm going to take a look on my PC tomorrow and see if your blog looks the same on that, I always do my commenting on my laptop and it's on this that your text is so small, it never used to be like that and I could understand it if it happened on everybody's blog then I'd know it was my laptops fault but its just on your blog, it's all very strange.

ReplyDeleteHi Pamellia,
ReplyDeleteanother of your superb creations here.
Wonderful designing, and super Christmas theme too.
It all looks very sparkly and stunningly beautiful.
Cingrats on your new DT placement well deserved may I add.
Lovely photos of the walk, and lake.
You are lucky your wonderful little dog didn't take a dip.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
I love the wintry, frosty, crystal sparkle to your tag! What a sweet dog you have too! Can you say how you put on the DecoArt glitter? Does it spray on, or do you have to use glue? Also congrats on your new DT spot - well deserved!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon. Sorry, guess I left out a step there. I actually just brush on some Mod Podge or whatever adhesive I have on hand and then I sprinkle the glitter onto that. Hope this helps. hugs :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous tag. Love the blue and all the glittery goodness.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have taken to walking the local UK countryside recently and we love it, especially at this time of year when all the leaves are turning beautiful shades.
Chris xx
WOW!!! This is simply stunning. I love the icy colours and all that shimmery glitter. xx
ReplyDeleteOh boy, oh boy, this is gorgeous!!! I'm always scared of using black on my creations, but it works perfectly on your tag, because it makes the top layer stand out beautifully. How awesome!!!! For some reason this tag reminds me on the scene from Frozen (the elegant flourish -sort of - background, that poinsettia) - my imagination is running wild. lol
ReplyDeleteThe scenery around your new place looks very peaceful and beautiful. Perfect for taking long walks. :)
Hugs! xx

ReplyDeleteBe still my heart! Somebody captured a snowflake and magically transformed it into a tag! This is so filled with wintry goodness, and the icy blues and greys pop against your black gesso background. It's so rich in texture with that beautiful modeling paste and shimmering ribbon.
