It's time for another wonderful challenge over at Frilly and Funkie! This time Cec is our lovely hostess and she has chosen the theme IT'S TIME FOR A VACATION. It's time to get away from winter and go on a vacation somewhere - it could be a warm beach, an exotic locale with lots of sights to see or even in your own back yard. Don't forget, one lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique! Here is my 'Springtime in Paris' creation.
I would like to send a Thank You to Suzz of Suzz'z Stamping Spot for giving me a huge dose of inspiration with this gorgeous card that I found on Pinterest. She's a talented lady, so you should pop in for a visit!
As soon as I saw Suzz's card, I knew I wanted to do SPRINGTIME IN PARIS, so I pulled out my Tim Holtz French Flight stamp and die set and got to work. I stamped the tower with Ranger Archival ink Jet Black and popped it up on pop dots. I attached a couple of ChitChat stickers on the side that were antiqued with Black Soot distress ink.
The back layer was stencilled with Tim Holtz Latticework and some home-made texture paste. I used a little Mustard Seed and Picket Fence paints to colour the bronze corner.
The resin heart was spritzed with Squeezed Lemonade spray and then I highlighted the surface with Picket Fence distress paint. The background hearts were cut with a GoKreate set and stamped with a variety of travel stamps as well as Tim Holtz's Distress Damask stamp.
All of the panels were coated with Gesso, stamped, dabbed with Picket Fence and Squeezed Lemonade paints and then spritzed with a bit of grey paint. (here's hoping one of the new Tim Holtz colours this year is grey!!).
The beautiful doily die is from Prima. There's a little bit of lace sticking out here and there behind the Eiffel Tower. I really wish I hadn't covered up with so many things. It's a gorgeous Venise lace from Linda's shop!
The flowers were cut using the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die and coloured with distress inks Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed to give the layers extra depth.
You can see the letter from Paris peeking out at the bottom. The leaves are from the Tim Holtz Garden Greens set and I stamped them with the script stamp from the Tim Holtz Papillon set. The seam binding was coloured with Tim Holtz distress ink Faded Jeans and Picket Fence stain to fade the colour.
The very back layer of grey was stamped with my favourite stamp from the Classic #19 stamp set and then I spritzed some Picket Fence. The butterfly is also Tim Holtz. I stamped it twice and then stapled them together using the Tim Holtz tiny attacher.
The letter from Paris has a variety of stamps on it. The big flourish is Tim Holtz and so is the PARIS stamp. The other stamps are just odds and ends from my stash.
I am entering my Springtime in Paris card into the following wonderful challenges:
- Glitter and Sparkle - Challenge #125 - Black & White
(they asked for mainly black and white, so I added a little bit of colour for contrast)
