Try it on Tuesday - Add A Photo

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to another challenge starting over at Try it on Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who entered our Add Some Fabric challenge, there were so many gorgeous projects, it was really hard to choose favourites!

This time around our theme is ADD A PHOTO. I hope to see you there! Here is my make.

I decided to use this vintage photo that I won from Suzy over at Completely Christmas. I don't usually use digital photographs, but this one was just so gorgeous, I couldn't resist! SO...I pulled my printer out of the closet and printed one out just for the occasion. Isn't she pretty! Thanks Suzy!

The background layers were made using a combination of stamps from the Tim Holtz Distress Damask set as well as a Kaisercraft script stamp that I used for the embossing resist technique. They were coloured with Tim Holtz Scattered Straw and Memento Pistachio with a little Gathered Twigs thrown in as well. The frame was cut out using Spellbinders Labels 18, my favourite!

The flowers were made using Joy Crafts Flower 4 and coloured with Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet. The music notes are from Memory box as well as the flower burst die. The leaves are La La Land and the leaf flourish is from Marianne Designs. The sentiment is from Kaisercraft's Thinking of You stamp set.

I got the idea for my layered butterfly from my very talented friend Nikki of Addicted to Art. She sent me the most gorgeous tag a while back and it had a layered butterfly stapled in the center! Pure genius! Thank you so much Nikki, you are an inspiration! CLICK HERE to see more of Nikki's beautiful tag.

My butterfly was stamped from Kaisercraft's Tigerlilly stamp set using Ranger Archival Coffee ink and lightly coloured with Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet. I fussy cut out three of them and then stapled them together. I used a little DecoArt Acrylic white paint to dab over the surfaces to give it a shabby look.

I am entering the following wonderful challenges:
- Crafts 4 Eternity Challenge #211 - No Patterned Paper
(every piece of paper on my card started out being plain white)

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  15. The printer came out - wow are you ever going rogue :). I am glad you did haul it out because that photo is perfect for this soft, almost ethereal card. Love how you kept everything so pastel, except for that little metal charm. The flowers are gorgeous and the music strip works beautifully. BTW, the photo is so reminiscent of my Mother-in-Law, who played the mandolin from the time she was little until she was about 65.
    Hugs!

    1. Thanks Cec! It's funny though, it took me over an hour to get the photo printed so it was nice enough to use...reinforcing my belief that if it can't be stamped, you just don't do it!! Maybe I need a new printer?? haha! Anyway, thanks again, big hugs :)

  20. Awwwwe this is beautiful Pamellia, I love your work with these gorgeous soft pinks, you make the most beautiful soft vintage cards. I really like how you used a staple for the body of the butterfly - genius!! Thank you for your truly lovely comment over at my blog. Hugs, Georgie xx

    Replies
    1. Thanks so much Georgie! I just held the three butterflies together and stapled the body...then I glued it on. The stapler wouldn't actually reach that far into the piece of paper, so that was my back up plan! hugs :)
