It's time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. Jenny is our hostess this time around and she has chosen the theme "ALL LINED UP". For this challenge you need to think in straight lines! Be it rows or columns, stripes or even grids make sure those vertical and/or horizontal lines are a clearly visible part of your vintage or shabby chic projects (the edges don't count!) One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!
Lots of pictures today, but no details for my process. Tune in on Saturday for my Step by Step at Frilly and Funkie with all the products and details.

Andrei and I visited the MacEwan Terrace Garden last weekend. It's just a few minutes from the house, so we plan to go back again in a few weeks to see how the gardens have changed as summer progresses and new flowers blossom. Today is Part One, I will continue on Saturday.
I'm not even going to bother trying to Google what types of flowers these are, there's no way of knowing if they are even domestic, so I wouldn't know where to begin. Let's just say 'pretty' and leave it at that. lol
Does this look like a field of pink Christmas trees or is it just me!!
Seems Junior's laziness is contagious, because here's Dee Dee just lazing around!
This is TAYLOR. I call her that because she has quite a unique tail. You can't really see it this picture, but half way up her tail, it just changes colours!! WHAT!! Squirrels are so cool!
My token morning coffee shot. I swear on this morning, just for a split second when I went to the door, I thought it was end of days and my heart skipped a beat! The sky looked like it was on fire!
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.
It's the depth that you've achieved with your amazing layering on this delightful Christmas card that truly astounds me Pamellia! SO much to see from every angle xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful layering and lots of lovely details on your card. Great photos, love the pink Christmas trees! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Pamellia, that lovely reindeer is really dashing through the snow. The stripes work perfectly too. What a super visit you enjoyed and your coffee shot really looks as though the sky was on fire...fab. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely card! L9ve the pics of your flowers as well! Can't wait for more!!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful Christmas card With the many special things added to it.
ReplyDeleteI always love to see the beautiful and calm places you find to take photographs--makes me want to be there and just sit and think. Fabulous colours on the flowers photographs. You should definitely be a professional photographer for sure.
Love Chrissie xx
This x-mas card is simply adorable and I love this park and especially the flower photos you have taken there! Gorgeous. Your friends are just so cute - one could think you are able to talk to them that they pose in such a fantastic way for you!
ReplyDeleteoxo Susi
I love the gorgeous dimension you have achieved in this design and using traditional Christmas colours with a vintage feel to them - stunning.
ReplyDeleteLorraine
Your card is extremely beautiful, love the gorgeous colours and traditional colours. Yes, very vintage look...love it.
ReplyDeleteYour photos have taken me from all seasons in your part of the world, from the snow to the beautiful flowers and nature...love it all.xx
Your Christmas cards are the most beautiful and romantic cards ever ... There's something special about a shabby chic Christmas card... nothing says Christmas better ... Can't believe I said the "C" word so many times in july!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos... you ought to work for the tourist board!
Gorgeous Christmas card Pamellia. The lettering almost looks like it is floating and I love how you incorporated the lines/stripes. Gorgeous design. I recognise some of your flowers from my own garden, lovely pictures. Tracy x
ReplyDeleteFantastic vintage/shabby Christmas card, a work of art. Love the stripes and the Jingle all the way sentiment. Your attention to detail, as always is staggering x Glad Junior has got some company with Dee Dee, one spoilt and happy squirrels. Fabulous flower photos and looking forward to seeing how the gardens have changed on your next visit x Thanks for sharing x
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, Pamellia! Makes me want to dig into my Christmas papers. Beautiful outdoor photos--love the pink Christmas trees!!
ReplyDeleteLoving your Christmas card but getting worried that I haven't given any thought to making them yet. I really must get started soon. Thanks for the inspiration and happy crafting, Angela x
ReplyDeleteI felt the temperature drop about 10 degrees while feasting my eyes on this lovely! I love the way you dusted everything with "snow". I love the circular element behind your stripey reindeer. I love the color palette, and the gorgeous layering. The bow cluster is a work of art all on its own. You lined it up and hit a home run with this beauty! xo
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, absolutely stunning, Pamellia!! I don't know if I can wait until Saturday for the details!! This is spectacular!! Wow!! The layers are amazing!! I love the reindeer and foliage!! As always, the details are perfect!! This is so gorgeous my friend!! I love, love it!!
ReplyDeleteWow, what beautiful gardens!! How awesome that they are so close to you so you can see the flowers progress through the seasons!! Your flower shots are gallery-worthy!! I especially love the pink Christmas trees ;) I just want to scratch Junior behind the ears!! So cute!! And it's both good and bad the starlings found the feeder...they tend to come in groups and can be quite noisy :O What a coffee shot!! It does look like a fire!! I love that you captured the soaring bird in the shot, too!! Have a wonderful day my friend!! Big hugs :)

This is frame-worthy. Love that you used mostly traditional colours. Even with all the layers, everything is visible so the eye candy is even sweeter.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Cec
PS - every time I see another Christmas card from you, I want to dig out my Christmas supplies to get ahead like you are AND get cooled off - 33C today. :(
DeleteGorgeous holiday card Pamellia! Love the "all the way" tiny stickers!!! What a great touch!

wow, Pamellia! You really nailed the Lines theme on this beautiful Christmas card! How smart of you to be making your cards in July; doubly smart because there are so many Christmas challenges to enter them in! It amazes me how you can put so many details on a card and not have it look busy or cluttered. Each of your elements flows effortlessly to the next and makes the entire design work! I'm loving that flower arrangement with the non-traditional color and that stiped ribbon that looks like one of those old fashioned candy confections--duh ribbon candy! And all the way paired with the die cut jingle is just so stinking clever! Beautiful work and so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteYour flower photos are wonderful; I sitll think there's a future for you in being a photographer for a seed or flower company. I recognize many of the flowers--the first being one I have a garden full of: Purple coneflower or echinacea. there's alum, strawflower, astilbe, monarda and maybe a pink daisy. I would love to know the name of that beautiful blue flower; blue is so rare in flowers locally. Thank you for sharing your lovely visit. Big hugs!
Thanks so much Sara!! Thank you for the flower idents too. I figured daisy and I knew the bee balm and coneflower, but the rest are news to me!! Best I could figure for the blue flower is Cornflower. I couldn't find an exact match because of the odd angle I took the photo at, but that was my best guess. hugs :)
DeleteI am so impressed by this gorgeous card, love the dimensions, the layering of all the paper and embellishments. The reindeer really pops right off that card and ready for his flight on Christmas Eve. Your work is beautiful and I can't wait to see more. This is the first time on your blog.
ReplyDeleteLove the beautiful photos of the flowers, have lots of shade at my house, I don't get to have all the pretty colors of the rainbow.
Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful card Pamellia, i love all the detail and colours, gorgeous pictures too
ReplyDeleteKevin xx
Totally awesome Christmas card Pamellia, all those layers and details are beautiful, it's a work of art.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, it's a gorgeous garden to walk around, your posts are always delightful, Kate x
Stunning card Pamellia! I studied it for a while and kept seeing new little details. I bought that deer die at a discount recently and have yet to use but pleased with my purchase as it looks brilliant here. That might be your most impressive sunset yet! Love those pretty flowers, but the starling looks rather cross so be careful. Nicola x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and your card is just stunning will all those layers and details...gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteluv CHRISSYxx
You certainly rose to this challenge Pamellia, so many 'straight lines' included in this beautiful design...very clever! A totally gorgeous festive card.

Totally stunning, wonderful layers (love the stripes), the red and white rippled ribbon looks amazing, as does the beautiful deer.... I look forward to seeing the step by steps!
ReplyDeleteThe only flowers I recognise are 1- Cone flower or Echinacea, 3 looks like one of the Aster family and 5 is definitely Astilbe - I love it in purple but the pink is gorgeous! It really does look Christmas treeish! The next one looks like an Everlasting flower but not sure....
Great photos of the gardens and love the squirrel ones today. Taylor sure has an interesting tail! Hugs, Anne xx
Beautiful card Pamellia and stunning pictures. Hugs Veerle
ReplyDeleteI just love all the texture on your beautiful Christmas card - the pleated ribbon, ephemera with the clothespin, the lace doily and touches of red! (so much color for YOU!) I wonder if Taylor lost half of his tail fur in a fight - I've seen squirrels with the fir and even part of the length missing before - that could make it grow back a different color!? Julia xx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Julia. Funny you mention that about her tail because we were just discussing last night why so many of the squirrels have damage to their tails and wondering if it's because of the fighting. I think that would definitely explain it. Sad though. hugs :)
DeleteYour card is gorgeous, beautiful layers and materials in the layers.
ReplyDeleteThe gardens look lovely and those flowers are so colourful. That sunrise photo is stunning.=. you really captured the moment on camera.
Yvonne xx
Stunning vintage Christmas card Pamellia, love your gorgeous layers with beautiful colours and texture.

Donna xx
Hi Pamellia, you card is wonderful, but then, when do you not make a wonderful card??? Love all your stripes, the subtle and the obvious!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are really pretty, and I got the first three named off the top of my head, then got to the "I should should know this but...." stage, "Oh Mum grew this but I took no notice of the name" came into it as well .... :-)
Those gardens look marvelous, as as for those squirrels, they are so full of personality, even in the photos! We have a starling box in our back yard, and although it is basically mid-winter here, there was one bird sorting the nesting stuff in there, and throwing what did not please her out, the other afternoon! Quite hilarious really.
Blessings
Maxine
Thanks so much Maxine! It's strange to think about you being in winter right now, when it's so stinking hot outside. I've never heard of a Starling box, I think that's something I would like to investigate. I love that idea, must be a real kick to watch them. hugs :)

Not an easy theme but you have done a superb job on it! Love all the different obvious and not so obvious stripy elements you managed to incorporate in to it and I just LOVE the flower cluster. All the photos are amazing again too, your adorable squirrels always bring a smile to my face and as to that coffee shot, - wow!!!

Super photos yet again.

Hi Pamellia
ReplyDeleteFestive, Frilly & Funky! Great traditional looking card but beautifully layered.
I'm guessing folk have already named your flowers but the first looks like an Echinacea, the blue a cornflower and your pink fluffy trees look like astillbes (as do the paler pink ones).
Best wishes.
Ang x
Pamelia!!!! Oh how I have missed these squirrel tales! heeheee I love how they just laze around- silly squirrels!
ReplyDeleteNow I usually have a difficult time looking at winter related at this time of the year, but, wow oh wow! You have knocked this card out of the box!!! Beautiful card huni. I have so missed seeing the squirrels, you must have thought I had abandoned them and you. Apologies my back is really bad right now and I can only sit upright for a little time and it's getting worse which is a real worry. You now have a lodger squirrel? lol, I love hearing about them and what they are doing, just awesome photos and great projects I want to live on your blog Karen xx

With cards as gorgeous as this, you can do Christmas every month of the year, Pamellia!! I would love to peek inside the creative center of your mind and get a glimpse of where all this beauty originates. You are a font of inspiration and fresh ideas. I am in awe of the way you built the 'all lined up' theme into this shabby chic confection!! It was a difficult challenge for me, and you breezed right through it:-))
ReplyDeleteYour photography is stunning! Youve captured every small detail and glorious color in a way that makes me feel I was right there with you. I'm pinning your post to use some of your photos as a reference when making paper flowers.
