Frilly and Funkie - All Lined Up

Hello Everyone!

It's time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. Jenny is our hostess this time around and she has chosen the theme "ALL LINED UP". For this challenge you need to think in straight lines! Be it rows or columns, stripes or even grids make sure those vertical and/or horizontal lines are a clearly visible part of your vintage or shabby chic projects (the edges don't count!) One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

Lots of pictures today, but no details for my process. Tune in on Saturday for my Step by Step at Frilly and Funkie with all the products and details.

All of the following products that I used can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique

***
Andrei and I visited the MacEwan Terrace Garden last weekend. It's just a few minutes from the house, so we plan to go back again in a few weeks to see how the gardens have changed as summer progresses and new flowers blossom. Today is Part One, I will continue on Saturday.

I'm not even going to bother trying to Google what types of flowers these are, there's no way of knowing if they are even domestic, so I wouldn't know where to begin. Let's just say 'pretty' and leave it at that. lol

Does this look like a field of pink Christmas trees or is it just me!!

And back on the home front, the Starlings have discovered my new bird feeder.

Hello JUNIOR!

Seems Junior's laziness is contagious, because here's Dee Dee just lazing around!

This is TAYLOR. I call her that because she has quite a unique tail. You can't really see it this picture, but half way up her tail, it just changes colours!! WHAT!! Squirrels are so cool!

My token morning coffee shot. I swear on this morning, just for a split second when I went to the door, I thought it was end of days and my heart skipped a beat! The sky looked like it was on fire!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. If you have any questions or interesting tidbits about today's wildlife, please let me know.

  18. wow, Pamellia! You really nailed the Lines theme on this beautiful Christmas card! How smart of you to be making your cards in July; doubly smart because there are so many Christmas challenges to enter them in! It amazes me how you can put so many details on a card and not have it look busy or cluttered. Each of your elements flows effortlessly to the next and makes the entire design work! I'm loving that flower arrangement with the non-traditional color and that stiped ribbon that looks like one of those old fashioned candy confections--duh ribbon candy! And all the way paired with the die cut jingle is just so stinking clever! Beautiful work and so inspiring!

Your flower photos are wonderful; I sitll think there's a future for you in being a photographer for a seed or flower company. I recognize many of the flowers--the first being one I have a garden full of: Purple coneflower or echinacea. there's alum, strawflower, astilbe, monarda and maybe a pink daisy. I would love to know the name of that beautiful blue flower; blue is so rare in flowers locally. Thank you for sharing your lovely visit. Big hugs!

    1. Thanks so much Sara!! Thank you for the flower idents too. I figured daisy and I knew the bee balm and coneflower, but the rest are news to me!! Best I could figure for the blue flower is Cornflower. I couldn't find an exact match because of the odd angle I took the photo at, but that was my best guess. hugs :)

  19. I am so impressed by this gorgeous card, love the dimensions, the layering of all the paper and embellishments. The reindeer really pops right off that card and ready for his flight on Christmas Eve. Your work is beautiful and I can't wait to see more. This is the first time on your blog.

Love the beautiful photos of the flowers, have lots of shade at my house, I don't get to have all the pretty colors of the rainbow.

    Thanks for sharing!

  22. Stunning card Pamellia! I studied it for a while and kept seeing new little details. I bought that deer die at a discount recently and have yet to use but pleased with my purchase as it looks brilliant here. That might be your most impressive sunset yet! Love those pretty flowers, but the starling looks rather cross so be careful. Nicola x

  25. Totally stunning, wonderful layers (love the stripes), the red and white rippled ribbon looks amazing, as does the beautiful deer.... I look forward to seeing the step by steps!

The only flowers I recognise are 1- Cone flower or Echinacea, 3 looks like one of the Aster family and 5 is definitely Astilbe - I love it in purple but the pink is gorgeous! It really does look Christmas treeish! The next one looks like an Everlasting flower but not sure....

Great photos of the gardens and love the squirrel ones today. Taylor sure has an interesting tail! Hugs, Anne xx

  27. I just love all the texture on your beautiful Christmas card - the pleated ribbon, ephemera with the clothespin, the lace doily and touches of red! (so much color for YOU!) I wonder if Taylor lost half of his tail fur in a fight - I've seen squirrels with the fir and even part of the length missing before - that could make it grow back a different color!? Julia xx

    1. Thanks so much Julia. Funny you mention that about her tail because we were just discussing last night why so many of the squirrels have damage to their tails and wondering if it's because of the fighting. I think that would definitely explain it. Sad though. hugs :)

  31. Hi Pamellia, you card is wonderful, but then, when do you not make a wonderful card??? Love all your stripes, the subtle and the obvious!
Your flowers are really pretty, and I got the first three named off the top of my head, then got to the "I should should know this but...." stage, "Oh Mum grew this but I took no notice of the name" came into it as well .... :-)
Those gardens look marvelous, as as for those squirrels, they are so full of personality, even in the photos! We have a starling box in our back yard, and although it is basically mid-winter here, there was one bird sorting the nesting stuff in there, and throwing what did not please her out, the other afternoon! Quite hilarious really.

  44. Hi Pamellia
Festive, Frilly & Funky! Great traditional looking card but beautifully layered.
I'm guessing folk have already named your flowers but the first looks like an Echinacea, the blue a cornflower and your pink fluffy trees look like astillbes (as do the paler pink ones).
    Best wishes.

Your photography is stunning! Youve captured every small detail and glorious color in a way that makes me feel I was right there with you. I'm pinning your post to use some of your photos as a reference when making paper flowers.
