Going Grunge with Wild Honey

Hello Everyone!

Today I have put shabby on the shelf and pulled out a big dose of grunge!! I really wanted to play around a little bit with some Tim Holtz techniques and my new Wild Honey distress spray to create a project for a few of my favourite challenges. This was a lot of fun to make, a bit of a mixed media frenzy and I was just covered in orange spots, which I thoroughly enjoyed!!

OK, so you may have noticed that there are flowers on my GRUNGY creation...well, I was hellbent on proving that flowers can be added to any project, no matter what style you are using! I think I proved my point with these vintage florals made from Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die. They are coloured with Tim Holtz distress ink Wild Honey and Gathered Twigs. I edged them with Vintage Photo ink and then used some Glossy Accents to glue Vintage Photo distress glitter in the centers.

For the background I coated a piece of cardboard with homemade texture paste which I mixed with DecoArt Crafter's Acrylic Tan to make a beige paste. I squished in some foam letters and let it dry.

After it dried, I attacked it with Tim Holtz distress sprays Gathered Twigs, Wild Honey and Scattered Straw, I let it pool and drip all over the place. Then I spritzed with some water, Wild Honey and Picket Fence to make some random stains.

The butterflies were cut using the Tim Holtz French Flight set. I stained them with Gathered Twigs and Wild Honey and stamped on some numbers with Ranger Archival Coffee ink.

The frame was cut from the Tim Holtz Ornate Frame die and covered with Glue N Seal, then Vintage Photo and Antique Linen distress glitters as well as some Walnut Stain embossing powder. I used Tim Holtz's distress glitter technique to antique the frame.

The ticket layers were made using various Tim Holtz, Artistic Outpost and other stamps with Ranger Archival ink Coffee. I used some Wendy Vecchi Crackle Paste and the Tim Holtz Arrow stencil to apply the arrow in the middle of the ticket. I dripped some Wild Honey and Gathered Twigs onto the tags and tickets and let it run all over the place. Then I flicked on some Wild Honey, Picket Fence and Walnut Stain with the end of my brush.

The numbers were cut using Tim Holtz's Vintage Noel die and then I used embossing powders Tim Holtz Walnut Stain, Ranger Copper and UTEE with my to give it a nice worn out look. VoilĂ , grunge project complete!!! Thanks Tim!!

Frilly and Funkie - It's Time for a Vacation

Hello Everyone!

It's time for another wonderful challenge over at Frilly and Funkie! This time Cec is our lovely hostess and she has chosen the theme IT'S TIME FOR A VACATION. It's time to get away from winter and go on a vacation somewhere - it could be a warm beach, an exotic locale with lots of sights to see or even in your own back yard. Don't forget, one lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique! Here is my 'Springtime in Paris' creation.

I would like to send a Thank You to Suzz of Suzz'z Stamping Spot for giving me a huge dose of inspiration with this gorgeous card that I found on Pinterest. She's a talented lady, so you should pop in for a visit!

As soon as I saw Suzz's card, I knew I wanted to do SPRINGTIME IN PARIS, so I pulled out my Tim Holtz French Flight stamp and die set and got to work. I stamped the tower with Ranger Archival ink Jet Black and popped it up on pop dots. I attached a couple of ChitChat stickers on the side that were antiqued with Black Soot distress ink.

The back layer was stencilled with Tim Holtz Latticework and some home-made texture paste. I used a little Mustard Seed and Picket Fence paints to colour the bronze corner.

The resin heart was spritzed with Squeezed Lemonade spray and then I highlighted the surface with Picket Fence distress paint. The background hearts were cut with a GoKreate set and stamped with a variety of travel stamps as well as Tim Holtz's Distress Damask stamp.

All of the panels were coated with Gesso, stamped, dabbed with Picket Fence and Squeezed Lemonade paints and then spritzed with a bit of grey paint. (here's hoping one of the new Tim Holtz colours this year is grey!!).

The beautiful doily die is from Prima. There's a little bit of lace sticking out here and there behind the Eiffel Tower. I really wish I hadn't covered up with so many things. It's a gorgeous Venise lace from Linda's shop!

The flowers were cut using the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die and coloured with distress inks Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed to give the layers extra depth.

You can see the letter from Paris peeking out at the bottom. The leaves are from the Tim Holtz Garden Greens set and I stamped them with the script stamp from the Tim Holtz Papillon set. The seam binding was coloured with Tim Holtz distress ink Faded Jeans and Picket Fence stain to fade the colour.

The very back layer of grey was stamped with my favourite stamp from the Classic #19 stamp set and then I spritzed some Picket Fence. The butterfly is also Tim Holtz. I stamped it twice and then stapled them together using the Tim Holtz tiny attacher.

The letter from Paris has a variety of stamps on it. The big flourish is Tim Holtz and so is the PARIS stamp. The other stamps are just odds and ends from my stash.

I am entering my Springtime in Paris card into the following wonderful challenges:

- Glitter and Sparkle - Challenge #125 - Black & White
(they asked for mainly black and white, so I added a little bit of colour for contrast)

Crafty Cardmakers - #134 - Stripes

Hello Everyone!

A little round up about the weather, as is happened here on Saturday. My little Maltese Scully likes to breath on the patio door and then lick the fog off...seriously, like a little kid! Well all I heard was a squeal and then I saw the blood! She had stuck her tongue on that frozen glass and I think we all know what happened then! She's fine. Honestly, I think I was more upset than she was!! I have blocked the door now, but that's just how cold it is here!  HELLLOOOOO!! Thank goodness for flannel pajamas and wine!

Well, it's time for another challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and More! This time around our lovely hostess Leslie has chosen the theme STRIPES.  Here is my shabby make. UPDATE: It's actually challenge #133, but unfortunately, I can't change the title now.

The frame is from Recollections. It was stamped with Ranger Archival ink Jet Black and coloured with Copic markers, I fussy cut it out and popped it up on pop dots. The sentiment is from Kaisercraft. The flowers were cut with Joy Crafts Flower 4 and coloured with Hero Arts Tide Pool and Tim Holtz Scattered Straw.

For the background I used a home made stencil to added alternating stripes with Tim Holtz Scattered Straw and Hero Arts Tide Pool. I stamped some flourishes from Inkadinkado, then I used some homemade texture paste and a Crafter's Workshop stencil to add a subtle flower design on top of the stripes.

The kraft leaves are from Tim Holtz Garden Greens and the filigree leaves are from La-la land. The gorgeous hearts were made using crafter's clay and a Wilton mold. The doily is from Cheery Lynn and the flower bursts are the Large Chloe die from Memory Box.

The tags were cut from Tim Holtz Tiny Tabs and Tag. One was spritzed with watered down DecoArt White paint that I made into a spray, the other was stamped with Tide Pool and a background damask stamp and then edged with Gathered Twigs.

Super Shabby and a Silver Rose

Hello Everyone!

First of all, I would like to say Thank You to everyone who Liked my page on Facebook, you are such wonderful bloggy friends. Also, no worries if you don't use Facebook, I will still be posting all my projects here on my blog.

For today's card, I was really just messing around with a couple new techniques, so I thought I would take the opportunity to make something for some challenges. I decided to go super shabby, haven't done that for a while. Just as a side note, I would like to say brrrrrrrrr, it's freaking cold up here in Cananda!!!

Nothing new here, some shabby roses made from a Joy Crafts Flower die. I coloured them using Hero Arts shadow ink Soft Sand and Tim Holtz distress ink Victorian Velvet.

In keeping with my New Year's resolution, I pulled out this never-before-used scallop border die from Spellbinders A2 Curved Borders set and adorned it with some lace and pearls.

The doily is from Crafty Ann, the sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations and the butterflies were stamped with Ranger Coffee ink and the Tim Holtz French Flight set. I coloured them with Copic markers. The filigree leaves are La-la land and the flourish is from Marianne Designs.

I was going for a vintage wallpaper look on the top panel, so there was a lot of dripping and splattering going on. The pink pattern was stamped with an Impression Obsession Damask stamp and the coffee stain is a Bobunny stamp. The corner piece was made with crafter's clay and a mold.

I decided to try a new wood panel background. I was going for that old panelling from the 70's, but it didn't really turn out quite right. Oh well, still looks like wood. Ingredients include DecoArt paints and Ranger distress inks.

So here is my other new technique, the big silver rose. Pretty easy, just some Brushed Pewter paint, Rock Candy crackle paint and some micro-beads. Hopefully you can zoom in and have a good looksie.

Try it on Tuesday - Tic Tac Toe

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to another challenge starting over at Try it on Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who entered our 'Add a Photo' challenge, it was great to see all of the different styles of photographs from everyone!

This time around our theme is a favourite of mine - TIC TAC TOE. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Here is my make.

Here is your Tic Tac Toe board. You will need to use one line (3 items). You can go horizontally, diagonally or vertically. I chose FLOWERS, PUNCHES AND BEADS.

The large and medium blue flowers were cut using Spellbinders Create-a-Carnation die set and coloured with Hero Arts shadow ink Sky Blue and Tim Holtz distress ink Faded Jeans. The flower buds were cut using a poinsettia die.

The little leaves were punched with a Martha Stewart branch punch. The frilly border die is and EK Success punch and the teeny tiny flowers were punched with a little dollar store punch.

The wood planks are handmade using a variety of DecoArt paints and Tim Holtz ink pads, paints and ink sprays. The gorgeous bird stamp is from Kaisercraft and the butterfly was hand made with crafter's clay and a silicone mold. The little twig is a die from Nellie Snellen.

Lots of real moss and little pearl beads are nestled here and there throughout the card. Some crinoline and some natural fibres just to add to the rustic cottage feel I was going for.
