Cupcake Inspirations - Surprise Sweetie

Hello Everyone!

So excited to be here today as the Surprise Sweetie for the wonderful challenge blog Cupcake Inspirations. If you aren't familiar with this challenge, you should definitely head over and check them out. Every Sunday starts a new challenge with a theme or colour combo and an inspiration photo, BUT, the photos are always of cupcakes!! It is super creative and so much fun. The design team is amazingly talented and I always enjoy seeing how they interpret the photo every week.

Here is this week's challenge inspiration photo.

The minute I saw this, I thought of a wedding. Something about the streamers and the soft colours just took me right to a vintage, shabby chic style wedding with lots of laces and flowers. SO, that's what I went with.

For the background I used some texture paste and the Tim Holtz Latticework stencil, then painted it with a soft pink paint. A little rub of Hero Arts Soft Blossom ink, a splash of whitewash and then I edged it with some DecoArt Metallic Lustre in gold.

The heart and doves were made with crafter's clay and silicone molds, the sentiment is from Prima, the floral die cuts are Chloe's from Memory Box, the laces were coloured with distress inks Brushed Corduroy and Frayed Burlap. The big white fabric flowers are from May Arts, the roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I am entering the following wonderful challenges:

***
My hubby bought me the most amazing winter boots. Really tall, lined with fur, and in anticipation of the brutal Canadian weather, they are waterproof and slip proof. So far, I really haven't had an excuse to use them. It's almost the end of January, bring on the winter. I'm ready now, you can do it, JUST SNOW ALREADY!!! I look like a real doof wearing those boots in the rain people!

We've only had a couple of days with snow that stayed on the ground for more than a few minutes, so I did grab some shots, but this is not what Canada is supposed to look like right now.

WILL NOTHING KILL THESE PESKY THINGS!!!!

You remember Max. He's a total sweetheart, but he does not like the cold weather! You can see him tucked away underneath my little Christmas tree, trying to escape the snow and wind. Poor little guy. I have built a weather proof house for him to tuck inside when he wants to stay warm.

Bob the Spaz doesn't seem to mind the snow so much, and boy oh boy, how cute does he look with a white coating of winter!!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

    1. Hey Becca. Actually for local friends and family, I just use a plastic resealable bag and then a really oversized envelope. These type of cards I don't send in the mail, I make for suitable ones for that. Thanks for the sweet comment. hugs :)

  48. In one word Pamellia - exquisite! But one word just won't do fro me, lol. This is such a wonderfully romantic creation. The gorgeous pale pink background and layers of lace are so pretty. I love the way you've added the pearls to the die-cut and your stick pins are perfect. The heart frame is a work of art on it's own with the touches of gold and the little bird and roses finish it all off beautifully.
I'm like poor frosty Max, I don't like the cold either and your photos have far too much snow for me. But I can understand you wanting to wear those fabulous sounding boots.
I hope Blogger learns some manners for you xxx

Your little Max and Bob are just to darn cute! I love the pic's you share! We use to feed the squirrels for about 4-5 yrs but they have been little stinkers here. They have destroyed my flower pots the past couple of years and get into everything I put out on my deck :( I just wonder if they trying to tell me something?! Hehe!
Thanks for sharing! I noticed you mentioned you live in Canada? We love Canada and make a trip up there every year to fish in Ontario~not to far from Kenora. Beautiful place!!

    1. Hi Nancy. I use an air-dry clay, so no need to bake. I use a matte sealer once it's dry. I use ModPodge Matte or DecoArt Ultra Matte, depending on what treatment I plan to give the piece for the final look. Hope that helps. Thanks for your sweet comment. hugs :)
