So hubby and I are watching some television and he says 'Hey Babes, I need a baby boy card.". I say "No problem, when do you need it for?", his response "tomorrow". WHAT!!!!! You know these cards don't come out of a magic genie bottle right! So he puts on a movie I have no interest in watching which gives me exactly 132 minutes to design a card for him!! MEN!
So here is my speedy baby card which I debated even posting. Looking at it now, there's so many things I would change. Oh well, lesson learned. My response from now on will be "That depends..."
Not much to tell with regards to process or products. The paper is Maja Design and the image is from a vintage stock collection I picked up. Everything else is from my stash. No time for handmade flowers or texture pastes, but it did the job in a pinch and it was nice not spending two days making a card.

Still wet and damp here, nothing new to report except that someone fished that trolley out of the lake and I was so happy to see that! But then I turned the corner and BLAM, there it was at the top of the stairs...DUUUUUUUDE!
The rest of the pictures here were taken on a different day. My first time going out before the sunrise. It was quite beautiful and such a good day for it, as the mist made for some very atmospheric shots! The world was so quiet, I could hear myself breathing!
That big empty space at the end of those rocks is where the lake would be...if could see it! Man, it was like 'American Werewolf in London' kind of misty! Good thing I don't believe in werewoves...GULP!
It has occurred to me that photographers must be quite crazy!! You should have seen the very precarious stance over the water that I had to take in order to get this shot...I was wobbling back and forth and had to re-position a couple of times just so I could lift the camera up without toppling right over! It's a cattail Pam, we aren't winning a Pulitzer for this shot, so let's not drowned please!
Totally worth it, look at how beautiful this is with the water drops on it!
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.
Well I think your card is adorable and see nothing wrong with it. I would take a week to make a card like that. I love all the cool pics that you post. They are gorgeous! Thanks

ReplyDeleteIf I were you I wouldn't change a thing about this card - it is fabulous. I love the vintage image. I would have taken far longer to create this as well so by the time I finished making it my husband would be in the dog house for requesting it at the last minute. He owes you - just saying:)

Hi Pamellia,
ReplyDeleteWell with so little time to do it you made a fabulous Baby card my friend, so gorgeous, I would certainly be pleased with it but we crafters are perfectionists and yes we Photographers are a little crazy lol! Although I am no where near as crazy as those who stand on the edge of a cliff to capture a bird or something. brilliant photographs all the same.

It would have taken me a week to even think about making a card like this and you made it so quickly--amazing. It is so beautiful and has the cutest baby image ever. I am sure it will be treasure forever.
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs and such wonderful atmosphere. Pity about the 'you know what' but it sort of adds to the beautiful of the other photographs.
Love Chrissie xx
Ummm, transfer the 132 to hours and I still could not make such a gorgeous card! I would not want to change anything about it at all, the picture is beautiful, the pin is perfect and I just love the little teddy bear. This is a card to be treasured for sure!
ReplyDeleteYour atmospheric photos are fantastic, nice to see your surroundings in different lights and times - these are spooky, but in a good way! Hugs, Anne xx

soo sweet, lovely and adorable!! Hugs, Kerstin
ReplyDeleteYou work VERY well under pressure, Pamellia :) This is stunning...lucky recipient! Positively dreamy with creams and blues! Hugs!
ReplyDeletePamellia, if only one of my cards turned out this pretty, even one that I spend days on! I'm not seeing what you see in terms of what you would do differently, but we are our own worst critics, aren't we? I love that adorable baby, the colors (!!!!)and those sweet butterflies! And the diaper pin is the perfect finishing touch! Hold your head high, and be proud! Well done pinched for time or not!
ReplyDeleteLove those eerie photos, and I love that you were out before sunrise...that's my favorite time of day! What a pleasure to hear the sound of your own breathing (and not my husband's snoring)!
PS NO, I did NOT use a black light to photograph my coffin. Just the usual OTT light and another incandescent light I have on my desk. No filters, or whatever they're called, either. Just my little ole' Mr. I! That Wilted Violet is wicked over gesso, isn't it? Big hugs!
So glad your husband needed this ! It has been a fun coffee break. I LOVE your lovely layers and layers of loveliness. A pure Little Treasure for this family. The image is precious.
ReplyDeleteYour weather looks like what we had a week ago..and today 3 degrees, misty icey roads, 40mph winds and snow drifts. So no travelling yet today and trying to keep the house warm. With prayers we keep electricity, will use the oven today for some cookies and a pot roast.
Enjoy a lovely weekend.
Oh! my goodness, you can even do Quick cards that look like they have been done over days, this is an absolute heirloom for the baby, I should think they will be overjoyed with it. It's so very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat atmospheric shots Pamellia, really could be Werewolf in London LOL. Yes the cat tail really does look beautiful.
Adorable an just beautiful is this card and the misty atmosphere in your photos is brilliant! Happy weekend dear Pamellia!

I totally missed the safety pin looking at all the other lusciousness so had to go back and find it after reading comments!!! HEhehehehe - seems like I'm on a roll of "missing" things lately!!!!!! This is COMPLETELY WONDERFUL Pamellia. SWEET, CHARMING, ADORABLE... YOU DID SUPER FINE. I never would have known it was done quickly by looking and so glad you shared it with us too.
ReplyDeleteAs for your photos.... can you imagine how COLD that water was???? Makes me shiver to think of you landing in it... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. On the other hand... I LOVED seeing that cattail up close... wow. Such a GREAT picture. Silly as this is... the picture of the "turtles" made me laugh... all shrouded in fog - forlorn and empty of little people on the backs. I really liked that picture. So glad the shopping cart was resurrected! Really wonderful pictures for sure. j.
Hmmm, this is a doozy of wonderfulness. It would have taken me a month! Hehe! Your hubby owes you big time. Wonderful card design and there is so much detail! How you do it? The peek a boo sentiment is the icing on the cake for this! Perfectly baby! Awww! Your pics with the fog look like the moors. Awesome sauce and so fun! Hugz to you muffin!
ReplyDeleteOh it beautiful!! He's one lucky guy to have you create this so quickly! Love the image and all the little details. Great photos ... It looks cold!
ReplyDeleteOMG Pamellia I wish I could create something as beautiful as this in 132 mins, that image is awesome the embellishments and design is outstanding, truly a stunning piece. I love, love these photos you have captured so much atmosphere it looks really eerie, I know what you mean about the quietness, when I am walking Jess most of the time it is just her and me, it is quite calming and serene for me as I am not a lover of too many people and kids about, I always praise the Lord for giving us so much beauty.

Hi Pamellia
ReplyDeleteI do worry about you, out at all hours.......must be a very safe area, unless you're a trolley lol!
Well, considering it didn't make you 2 days to make, I think it looks rather splendid. Beautiful image.
If it makes you feel better, its genetic so all males think the card fairy conjures up all our creations.
Ang x
A lovely card, and very inspirational how you accomplished it!! I have no doubt the lucky family will love it, along with their new little one. And hooray for the trolley! As well as your wonderful photos, Pamellia....you've a wonderful eye in all of your art! xxx Lynn

Your card is too, too cute! I love it. Your photography is quite stunning, too. I need to email you about the crew. I need some guidance, LOL!
ReplyDeleteCould you email me so I can email you back? rickijill@gmail.com
DeleteBe proud Pamellia, this card is adorable. And you got to use blue! I've had several of those conversations with my hubby, with less creative outcomes. The vintage image and cute embellishments are fabulous. I love how you've prettified it all with the roses and lace.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully peaceful time of day to be out and about. I used to love pre-dawn country walks when I was younger. Your photos are fabulously atmospheric and I'm glad to see the the trolley was rescued xx
You would never know how quickly this wonderful card came together because as ever it's an absolute stunner! I love the lace border around the little one. It's fabulous to see around your home area with all these fantastic shots too. Jenny x
ReplyDeleteOh Pamellia its a lovely lovely card, I love the blue safety pin, its such a lovely touch. Well done you! Typical man!! (laughing!) xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteI think you have done a brilliant job and I am amazed how quickly you got it done. The little photo is so cute and I love the idea of adding butterflies and roses to a new baby card, but they really work.
ReplyDeleteMore fabulous photos, and great shots in the mist. I cannot get over you being out before dawn, as a bit of a night owl, the only way that would happen with me would be if I had not been to bed yet
Dionne xx
Well, I think sometimes we can be too hard on ourselves - this is a charming card by any standards, and almost unbelievable that it was such a speedy make. I agree that you need to discourage such last minute demands though. I think next time he doesn't get to watch a movie while you make his request - he should be there waiting on you hand and foot as you are creating, and bringing you cups of coffee to see you through!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
This card is so sweet and perfect for a new baby. So many lovely touches - you would never know that this hadn't been planned for weeks!! I love your misty photos, but Oh Pamellia! ….Do take care when out taking photos!!!! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteHe he he, yup, that's men. :D I can imagine mine doing the exact same thing. No, wait, he already has. lol So I feel ya. But nonetheless you created a fabulous card. I can't believe you debated whether to post a picture of it on the blog or not, you silly girl! I don't know what you'd change, because to me it looks PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the nature pictures you posted here. You made some great shots! And I can confirm your thoughts - photographers CAN be a bit crazy when they are trying to get a clear shot at something. I have 2 in the family ...
Have a wonderful day!
Big hugs! xx
This is just so ADORABLE! You create the most perfect items for every occasion! I love the shabby look and the little picture is so angelic!! xx
