OK, to answer some questions about those squirrels I introduced the other day. No, they didn't come to me all tame like that. I spent months leaving trails of peanuts and bringing them closer and closer to me whenever I could. I sit by the door with my hand outside on the ground right beside the peanuts, so they get used to me. It's only after quite some time that a few of them have learned to trust me enough to feed from my hand. It's a real thrill for me and sort of a challenge too. I'm determined to sit outside in the summer time and have them sitting on the chair beside me eating a peanut and not being afraid! I know, I'm a nerd, right!!
On with the show...
Well I thought it was time for another journal page, and of course, another video!! I got this fabulous new Canson Mixed Media Journal for Christmas, so I am breaking it in! This is also my first project as a Crew Member for the Canvas Corp Brands. I'm still learning the ropes and finding my way over there, but I am having a lot of fun learning about their fabulous products!!
CANVAS CORP SUPPLY LIST:
The photos are a little different in quality because I was really trying to capture the shimmer of these amazing Glimmer Mists from Tattered Angels! I think I would have a better chance of capturing a shot of a polar bear putting on lipstick!!
Well here we go with my latest video. As always, I thank you so much for all your support and your wonderful words with regards to my videos. I just love hearing from you!
Sending out a special thank you to the Cheery Lynn Designs die company for my wonderful Snowflake die (Snow #2) that you see here. I won it over on their challenge blog, so I thought I would enter my snowflake journal page into their challenge this week!! You can find the link below with the other challenges. It's a brilliant die, I just love it!
I am entering the following wonderful challenges:
***
I just love taking my walks before the sun comes up. I have a much better view of the sunrise with no leaves on the trees and the world always has such an amazing glow. The contrast of the blues in the sky with the orange street lights creates some really amazing shots on the wet branches of the trees!
I attempted some shots with the new zoom lens, but I'm having problems holding the darned thing still, so some of the shots aren't as crisp as they should be.
Everybody say hello to Bob the Spaz. Bob the Spaz used to be just Bob when he was out in the tree, but now that I've gotten to know him, I had to give him a new name. He dances around and jumps all over the place and makes the most ridiculous noises when he's hungry. I have to drop the peanut real quick or he loses patience and tries to grab it in some sort of bizarre Circus de Soleil, acrobatic fly-by, scratching me every time! It's frickin hilarious!
Here's Bob the Spaz, way back when he was just plain Bob...sizing me up from the tree with that very familiar, evil look on his face that says, "I swear lady, any sudden movements and I'll scratch you with my very tiny and totally ineffective claws"! HAHA! You slay me Bob!
That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.
I'm heading out of town later today to visit some family, so I wish everyone a fan-tabulous weekend and I will see you bright and early on Monday!! Hugs to all!

ReplyDeleteGreat video Pamellia thx for sharing. It only goes a tiny bit too fast for me at times, especially when you show your work in between actions.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great great idea to press down an embossing folder into wet gesso. Your journal page looks awesome, looks like a wintery fairytale forest and yes the ferns do look like frost. Mission accomplished there. Gorgeous !
Hugs, Veerle ;-)

ReplyDeleteMore lovely photos, we love watching the squirrel's in our gardens and orchard, they have been renamed by youngest granddaghter as 'Sam the Squibble' and it's stuck.
B x
Love those tattered Angel shimmer mists Pamellia - I get my best shots of them under a halogen desk lamp using an indoor setting on my wee 'point and shoot' Canon camera. Your snowflake page is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your squirrels - you sound like me with a stray cat at one point... I was just getting him calm enough to eat from my hand when he disappeared, permanently.
Blessings
Maxine
Wonderful construction of your journal page/cover,and colour combination is lovely. Cute photos again.xcxc {aNNie}

ReplyDeleteBeautiful page Pamellia, wonderful colours and texture, great job with the photos, 'though I know that the shimmer is much greater IRL! :) You've certainly put your lovely new die to good use.
ReplyDeleteDon't the squirrels freak your dogs out???? My dog would go utterly berserk if she heard me talking to, or suspected me of FEEDING a squirrel....she thinks they are for chasing -(don't worry she never catches them!)
Hope you enjoy your weekend,
Chris

ReplyDeleteHi Pamellia,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous journal page, just love all the snowflakes and the affects you have done, so pretty. You are not a nerd, I wish I had time to sit and coax wildlife into my garden, I just have to make do with the birds for now. I adore Bob the Spaz, never, ever seen a Black squirrel, he is soooo adorable even with his stern looks lol! You take care of him my friend. I hope you got my message on your last post to do with ABC blog?

Beautiful journal page, Pamellia! Love glimmer mists! I have the bead gel, too, but haven't tried it yet--will definitely do now. The snowflake die is so pretty as well. Is Bob a black squirrel? I've only seen one in my life. I think they are adorable!

You are NOT a nerd! I've done the same thing and it's lots of fun! That reminds me that I have a huge bag a peanuts waiting to be placed outside. I love Bob the squirrel, so CUTE! Your journal is absolutely gorgeous too! Have a nice weekend Pamellia!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a winter wonderland I'd love to walk through. The colors speak to me and I adore all the texture on this beauty! Love Bob...we have squirrel feeders set up in the yard and they can entertain for hours :) much to the chagrin of our border collie. She's been trained to lay down on the deck when they are in the yard, but she gets a little sneaky and wiggles her way to the edge of the deck for a closer peek :)
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Pamellia! All the sprays and paints and that lovely snowflake look terrific. Will check out video later on. We have plenty of grey squirrels in Ireland and happily red squirrels are growing in number too. Enjoy your weekend. Nicola x
ReplyDeletePamellia this is stunning. Nice to see the video of how you created it. Thanks for joining the Cheery Lynn Designs challenge. Best of luck to you.

You make amazing videos to watch Pamellia, thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Loved the look of the metallic white paint and of course the fab CL die. Thanks for joining is in Cheery Lynn Designs challenge and good luck.
ReplyDeleteJulie x
Hi Pamellia, love the little squirrel but love your journal cover even more!
ReplyDeleteBit late tonight so I shall pop back tomorrow to have a look at the video, don't want to wake him up as he is under the his blanket again though we have been out skiing all day and you know men they have no staying power Lol!. Have a great weekend, Angela x
A stunning journal cover Pamellia. The video is mesmerising. So many techniques crammed into it. I could watch you work for hours. I can't believe I never thought of tearing a page from the journal in order to have the tabs between the spirals for the cover. I've always been put off spiral bound journals because of that. And thank you for the tip about using an embossing folder to create patterns in the wet gesso.
ReplyDeleteThe metallic white paint looks amazing against all the gorgeous blues and I love the cool, icy effect you've achieved with the different methods and products.
Your photographs are fabulous and Bob looks so cute - probably not the image he was going for, lol. My brother trained the squirrels round his place to eat from his hand but then they started coming indoors looking food. Something to bear in mind. He's also tamed a robin to sit next to him and eat seeds from a shot glass. Enjoy your weekend and wildlife xx
What!!! That's amazing Andree, I would love to train a bird to come sit beside me! HA!! I have a sliding screen, so I can leave the door open and not worry about them coming inside. They always let me know when they're out there though, it's quite funny. hugs and thanks for the sweet comment. :)
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, Pamellia!! Love that white paint on your stenciled snowflakes.... and all that lovely Tattered Angels spray. Brilliant how you used the embossing folder also!! Love these videos - thanks so much for making them! And posting your photos - they are inspiration in themselves! xxx Lynn
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cover on your journal Pamellia! Super textures, shimmer and hues of blue! have a great weekend! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteSaw your thumbnail at Emerald Creek and had to have a quick look, but off to watch a movie with my hubby. I'll be back in the morning! Gorgeous! hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow, your journal page is incredible! I really love the pretty colors you used and the textures are beautiful! your work is amazing and seriously a masterpiece! Your talent is incredible and so glad you share it! I am still a new following for a few weeks but LOVE everything I am seeing! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

Yippee!!!! Another video! So stoked super excited to go watch it! This is a gorgeous and divine design. Huge congrats on your new CC DT position and I can say they know a good lady when they see it-YOU. Hehe! Bob the spas is my fave! Aren't squirrels fun? I have had the honor of working on flying squirrels. Fun little buggers but their teeth hurt. :) You are fabulous dearie! Such patience and understanding with your commitment to these little furries. Hugz to you muffin! Off to see the video! ~Doc
ReplyDeleteGorgeous page! I love the blues and the texture and shimmer. I enjoy watching your creative process in the video, too. I would be afraid of messing up the page, but you are fearless!
ReplyDeleteLoved your journal page Pamellia. I am going to try the gesso pressed with an embossing folder --- that is so cool! Of course, I love all the different elements you did, but I happen to have gesso and embossing folders, so chances are I will give it a go. :) My wish list always grows when I see your work. :) You are an enabler! :)
ReplyDeleteLove Bob the Spaz ... he really gave you some nice poses. :) xx
A stunning page Pamellia, with all those yummy sprays and lovely textures!! Love those wonderful blue tones! Your photos are amazing, I so love how you managed to capture the light falling onto those branches. Your little squirrel friends look so delightful too! Well done you for being so patient in getting them to trust you.... not nerdy at all imho....
ReplyDeleteBack again my friend...yes STUPID BLOGGER VERIFY THINGY drives me nuts...but on saying that so far I have done over 60 responses and it's been ok...you watch, it'll bite me in the butt now..xx

Loved the shimmering winter inspired page ! It has lots of texture on it and still doesn't look bulky at all..
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous creation! Thanks so much for participating in the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge this week and good luck.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece of art! Love the pretty colors and the snowflakes you have used! It looks very wintery! Thank you so much for playing with us this week at the Cheery Lynn Designs blog and the best of luck hugs Amy xox
ReplyDeleteWow! Pamellia, this is definitely a favorite of mine! Great frosty look you achieved with those fern stamps, and your use of all the products is just amazingly inspiring! Don't be surprised if you see a couple more frosty, blue things coming out of the Closet! So MANY great techniques used here!
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of questions and a few observations. First, Lauren would like to know the title/composer of your music. She would like to learn it. Second, I would like to know if you tore out your journal page, do you just stick it back in, or did you do something else. Observation...I was just thinking of a frosty scene for my very first journal page ever. But now I would certainly be afraid to post it. Another thing is Lauren told me this morning it was a dream of hers when she was younger to train some squirrels. You have done a fabulous job with Bob and the gang. Bob is the most beautiful squirrel I've ever seen, by the way. Give him a pat for me! We had a baby squirrel get stuck in the screening of our screen porch a couple of years ago. He cried and cried, and my husband was finally able to work him loose and turned him loose in the woods beside our home. I really wanted to raise that baby, and I hope he went out and found his mama! I love your goal to get one to sit down beside you, and I think you are well on your way to achieving just that! Big hugs on a wonderful journal page and a fabulous video! And as always, thank you for sharing your amazing gifts with us!
What a wonderful post - your page is glorious with all that sparkling texture, and I just adore the gleaming wet tree branches reflecting the coloured lights. Bob is adorable too - what a joy to have made friends with a wild creature.
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Bob the Spaz looks so black. I have never seen a black squirrel... he is sooo HANDSOME! Wow - you really have had an adventure "training" your little friends. I really really really enjoy hearing about them and your companionship together. Thanks bunches for sharing such great stories Pamellia.
ReplyDeleteYour project is STUNNING. And what a great video too. You are just so wonderful at textures and colors and combining unique things to make GORGEOUSNESS. Your Winter Wonderland truly looks exactly like that... brrrrrrrrrr but definitely a WONDER.
And the photos... wow... I just looked and looked at them... so interesting to see the shadows, textures, colors and the intricate parts of nature. ENJOYED this post VERY much. Have a super fine weekend. j.
This is gorgeous Pamellia, fabulous texture and beautiful winter blues.

Wow what a beautiful festive delight this is Pamellia, I love how you can create such awesome texture that looks so real, so real it makes me feel chilly, lol, stupendous project. Pamellia you are definitely no nerd just a lovely person who appreciates the wonders of nature, I do admire you taking so much time with the Squirrels it must be magical to have them coming so close to you, unfortunately it would not work with me as Jess loves to chase them. She even chases the birds when they come down to feed she does not like anything trespassing in her little garden, lol.
ReplyDeletehugs
lorraine x
I really like how your fern "frost" turned out. Genius ! Impressive work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave the sweet comments on my blog! I came here to visit your bloggy world and have really enjoyed the visit! Your projects are amazing and I love reading about your extended family! And no, you are not a nerd for being close to your "extended family". It is funny because my family calls me the squirrel whisperer. I feed them daily, too, and anything else with a heartbeat that is in my yard. :)
ReplyDeleteI am happily your newest follower! Hugs!!
Gorgeous journal page Pamellia! Love the texture and such a perfect choice of sentiment for this page! Off I go to check out the video!

ReplyDeleteHi Pamellia
ReplyDeleteWow, what glorious shades of blue and amazing texture on your notebook.
Our blackbirds come in the house in Summer when the door is open, hopping through the kitchen to the living room door, then mimicking my whistle to get me to feed them......cheeky beggars lol!
Bob is a darling.
Now, I have a snap of a walrus with eye shadow.......does that count?
Ang x
This is absolutely wonderful! Such gorgeous textures and shimmer effects.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing it with us at Emerald Creek Dares.

Such a pretty art journal page - it seems a shame to hide it in a journal! I really enjoyed your video. I haven't tried art journalling (yet!) and it's amazing to see what goes into making these pages. Thanks for sharing! I also enjoyed looking at your photos, especially of Bob! We only have red squirrels in my area so this fellow looks so funny and he sounds like a lot of fun! Hope your 2016 is going great so far!
ReplyDeletePamellia, this journal page is gorgeous and I love the sparkles and texture. Now as far as the little yard pets, I also have a couple of squirrels and one runs up to our arbor and waits for me to bring him a peanut. He eats out of my hand!!! So cute! Happy Sunday! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors and textures on your page! Fab! Bob the spaz is so cute! I've never personally seen a black squirrel. Ours are brown.

You are so clever to think outside the box and use things in a completely different way (e.g. that Penny Black stamp or that embossing folder). THANK YOU for making this video and showing how it's done. It's a huge inspiration!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful nature pics as well. And look at the Bob the Spaz ... What a cutie he is!!! :)
