Frilly and Funkie - Enjoy your Embossing

Hello Everyone,

It's time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. The lovely and talented Jenny is our hostess and she has chosen the theme "ENJOY YOUR EMBOSSING". She would like you to make a vintage or shabby chic project of your choice, just remember to include some embossing. Use your favourite embossing methods (wet, dry, heat, or any other techniques you want to share) - just enjoy your embossing! One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

For the background I dabbed some Ranger Perfect Medium on the Tim Holtz Regal Flourishes EMBOSSING folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug, then I added some Ranger clear EMBOSSING powder and heated it up. I spritzed some Distress spray inks Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet onto my craft sheet then smooshed the panel into it. Once dry, I swiped a dab of Gathered Twigs across the top to highlight some of the areas.

The fancy circles are from Spellbinders, which I die cut and EMBOSSED. I stamped them with the IndigoBlu Vintage Flourish and Gathered Twigs, then I added some Brass Liquid Pearls around the outside. The base is stamped with the smaller flourish stamp from the Tim Holtz Fabulous Flourishes set.

The butterfly is from the Sizzix Limitations stamp and die set. I heat EMBOSSED it on vellum and then gold EMBOSSED the edges of two Heirloom roses for the body. The bronze corners are from Linda's shop. I heat EMBOSSED them with Ranger Detail Gold embossing powder.

UPDATE:
My card won awards in the following wonderful challenges:

All of the following products that I used can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

So it snowed for about 5 minutes the other night. Not long enough to collect on the ground, but long enough for me to have some play time with my new zoom lens. I'm still working on how to steady the camera without using the tri-pod, but I got a few eerie snowy shots in. It's especially difficult to focus with all the movement of the snow and the wind, so I was happy with these.

So my little friend Karen has decided that she doesn't want to wait until feeding time any more. When she's hungry, she just comes a knockin', and if I don't answer right away, she crawls up the screen and peers inside to get my attention. It's so freaking hilarious.

"Pardon me Madam, but may I have a peanut?"

"Hello, Miss...are you there? I'm getting a little hungry and a lot impatient!"

"FOR THE LOVE OF PETE, WOMAN!! WHAT'S A GIRL GOTTA DO TO GET SOME FREAKIN' LUNCH!"

Oh Karen, it's like dinner AND a show!  Here's an extra peanut.

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  17. Oh, my GOSH, Pamellia!!! Karen has me rolling on the floor! You better keep a lock on that refrigerator door! I was thinking at the first mention of squirrels that it would not be so cute when they all came knocking at one time! Especially if they all start hanging from that screen door! Oh, but SOOOO cute!

Pamellia, both your card and your night time photography are exquisite! I, too, love that butterfly stamp and you have given it it's finest hour! I am so inspired by your beautiful card, and it goes down as being one of my favorites. I love the repetition of the flourishes on the layers--I forget about that embossing folder, but you've inspired me to pull that one out! Gorgeous! Gorgeous, GOR-JUSSS !

Lovely nighttime shots; I can't choose a favorite, but those street lights in the
dark sure is intriguing! So spooky! And, boy, you have captured the beauty of those flakes! Incredible! Big hugs!

You've spoiled me wanting to see your creative process for every single masterpiece!! Gorgeous, gorgeous project!!

Oh my gosh, how absolutely adorable is Karen??!! She totally makes me smile!! Impatient little thing :) I have an outdoor cat and when she wants treats (which is always!!), she does the same thing...she'll climb up the screen on the sliding glass door to peek inside. She's gotten to the top sometimes!! When I come to give her treats, she tries to help me take the stick that secures the sliding door with her paw :) I think she and Karen would get along fabulously :) Have a great day my friend!! 36. Sorry to say this.... but... being completely honest here... Karen stole the spotlight this time - ehheehhehehehe. OH my my my she is just tooooooooooooooo adorable. And BRAVE. I mean - who among us would have the nerve to do what she did... just open the back door and ask for a cookie??? I didn't even do that to my own Mama!!!!!!!!! Hehheheheheeh. She's amazingly precious!!!!!!! And... just goes to show you how beloved you are to her too Pamellia. Such a great squirrel "mom"!!! Ok... I guess I must move on from my obvious intrigue of Karen (and Max and Bob)..... but it's difficult!

On the other hand... you "made today count" by presenting us with your MARVELOUSLY DELICATE and BEAUTIFUL new design. That is the most gorgeous butterfly ever - just looks like it could take off from the page and fly away. The background is soooooo ELEGANT with it's lush texture swirls. The colors are perfectly lovely and luscious. Really really wonderful creation.

And the photos... just awesome. What fun this post was to read and see. Thanks bunches. j.

  60. Oh Pamellia, my indescribably talented friend! How many times must I say something you create is one of my favorites? :o) One thing I love about you is how you take every theme to heart... you embrace it and run with it. This is an embossed masterpiece! The vellum butterfly is wispy, yet majestic.. unbelievably beautiful. The metal corner detailing and flourish images are so beautiful. This card simply makes my heart flutter. :o) Beautiful work, my dear friend! And helloooo to sweet Karen! I feel she won't ever take no for an answer.. her determination is admirable! :o) Hehe! I love her to bits.
Also, my dear friend, I must tell you something. I am unsure how my blog presence will be for the next tiny bit. Just as things began to calm this week, my sister received a very scary diagnosis. I am taking off this week's DT work and of course my amazing leaders have said to take as long as I'd like to take care of things, but I may try to stay involved so my heart can have the joy that is crafting... despite how hard it feels to make anything. So, if I disappear or do not get here often, I wanted you to know why. Thank you for being such a beautiful presence in my life.

    Hugs and blessings,
    Karen
